Quick comment on the video framerate, you can definitely see the 24/30 FPS shift 😅 But you're not going to see the difference between 120 and 60 when you're upload limit is 60 ;) The one thing that having 120 on the recording will do for you, is allow you to do half time slow mo on YT at a full 60 fps, which would be great for those of us that are snobs for quality!
@@Labergemusic This is both true, and not, its a bit convoluted. YT will play @ 120 FPS with 720 and 1080 videos, but only through specific browsers, and it still says "1080/60" when you go to choose the quality so actually knowing what content is and isn't at higher framerates is nigh on impossible. Caveat being that they could have changed something in the last couple of months, but I don't think so considering I did take a quick minute to double check on the google support website before commenting.
@@booth403 I read through a bunch of stuff and somewhat interpreted the same thing too lol. Dang arse youtube being confusing. I would still suggest Dan film and render at 120fps for us nerds lol!
silver jews and Townes van zandt are two bands you have mentioned and being a person that grew up in Nashville ......I think that's really cool you know of those musicians
Love the crazy lines being tried (and MADE!) on the Jersey barriers. Bizarre to see Vision Streetwear high-tops in the same style as I wore in the late 80's... Even the same Skulls colorway! I was a dealer for them back in the day.
13:28 Why are jersey walls called jersey walls? Nobody knows when or where concrete median barriers were first used. However the current form was introduced in 1959 developed at Steven’s Institute of Technology, New Jersey and introduced in 1959. Prior to that different versions were used starting in the mid 40s on U.S Route 99 south of Bakersfield CA. These original versions were also typically much shorter. That is all I care to dig down this rabbit hole lmao. Thanks for reading!
Sadly with youtube you only can see it in 60hz. So for youtube I think 60 frames is good. Though if you do 120 you can slow down even more and have extra frames
One of the Gnarliest sk8! spots ever, dudes! So Dope to be a fan of the channel, Dan Corrigan!! Some very sick sk8!boarding skills out there ! Shout out to Andy Anderson! He's a prestigious Rider!
Not exactly. It matters in Editing. If you film in a higher frame rate, you can slow stuff down more without it looking choppy. It’s ideal for action sports and stuff like skateboarding. Lower frame rate will look better in low light… just sayin
ANDY IS SLIGHTLY BETTER. THIS VIDEO IS A GREAT ONE. I WATCHED IT ALL. VERY TECHNICAL SKATING. I LOVE THAT SPOT EVERY TIME YOU FILM THERE DAN. YOU ARE BOTH THE EPITAMY OF SKATRBOARDING. VERY RAW, AND RAD. I REALLY ENJOY THE DETERMINATION DUDES. I AM SO PROUD OF BOTH OF YOU GUYS.
Loving all the content lately Dan! 4k/60 is good. 120 good for slo-mos. I'm guessing shooting 120 all the time with eat up data fast and make editing/exporting longer too.
As someone stuck in NJ wishing I was there with y'all having a fun Jersey Barrier sesh. Need to save up some money man I wanna save up and find a solid job distribution or something for main whole saler idk tho LA prices be crazy on rent
QUESTION FOR SKATERS : I've never skated (penny and long boarded a little) I want to start skating but dont want to build my own board. Where should I go to look at decent prebuilts? I dont feel like an amazon board is the move but I also don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a board right away. Also nice vid Dan
rando hardcore/punk playlist recommend for you, "cavity creeps" by murphy's law...was a nyc hardcore "standard" in the late 80's... thought you'd get a kick out of it...weird how i am not the only comment bringing up teeth today outta the blue.
Dan the 120 fps looks great. However, only matters if you're watching on a screen that can display at 120 fps. I'm watching this on a gaming monitor, so it's super smooth. For those watching on a phone screen , or an older or lower end TV, it may not make that much of a difference.
The Jersey barrier, also called New Jersey wall, was developed in the 1950s (introduced in current form in 1959), at Stevens Institute of Technology,[4] New Jersey, United States, under the direction of the New Jersey State Highway Department to divide multiple lanes on a highway.[
BTW @Dan That wasnt Big Sean you saw recording a music video that day. That was Xzibit shooting for his new song "Play This At My Funeral"! Thought id help connect the dots
The more frames per second - the more light you need. The 120 looked a little desat and probably grainier - BUT it gives smooth slo mo anywhere that you want it - after the fact in the edit.
120 fps would help with ramped slow.. would mean more work on your part. usually you just use slow mo mode on the phone which gives you the overly dramatic slow motion.. having more frames allows you to play with speed. so you could have the clip start at normal pace, and then you could choose when the slow motion began/finished, and at what intensity or rate of speed.
Also, 24 FPS will look choppy or stutter when used in a 60 FPS video. (it's not evenly divisible) 30 FPS, however will literally be 2 identical frames when used in a 60 FPS video. If you frame-by-frame through where you did the FPS changes you can see this. (Pause and use < > ) In the 24 FPS section there is a mix of 2 and 3 frame that are identical.
Jersey wall has to be like who skated it first because that stuff is called barrier or k-bar by installers. Cause the cross section is k shaped a little.
I tested the frame rate section of the video with my 120 hz monitor and 60 hz monitor. The higher FPS is buttery and the movement of the train in the background looks dope.
I wrote a big comment before I checked the vid at 2160 and the difference is noticeable. Things like you panning and the skaters movement is far smoother.
I don't know when you filmed this but Xzibit did a music video and had a shot here walking down this street lmao. Maybe that's why everyone showing up.
120 frames makes things look a little bit twitchy. I think at least 100 is better. 30 is best and the most life like adding more motion blur. Motion blur is more natural 30 FPS

also another reason for shooting 120p is for nice smooth speed ramps / slo-mo while editing. happy filming!
FYI at 720P and above YT will play video back at 120fps :)

Most of your videos are 4K/60 and I find them an absolute visual treat.
Badass shirt Andy. METAL. SKATEBOARD. NEVER GIVE UP.
Zooms into distant graffiti that says 'so far' lol
any modes over 60FPS/(1080p /4K)don´t matter unless you film slow motions as youtube compression ruins nay advantages anyway.
@@MAYERMAKES high pixel count is really good for post zooming and stuff too.

the BA KU shirt for the barrier sesh put the biggest smile on my face, just needs the ski mask under the helmet 🍁
Love how you zoomed in on the graffiti and it said SOFAR!

Matt puts in work unlike any skater out there
Best session to document here. Next time, we need to add Christopher Hiett to the mix

Perfect video to drop while I’m on my break at work
Miss u bro keep killing it on n off the board!
Luv the content edits and dan’s funny comments.
Slappy eye for the walley guy, shit made me laugh 😃
Really wanted to see Matt do that transfer. Crazy
5th Pocket built a few of my locals in PA and are going to be building one in my old hometown soon as well in Upper Darby! Sick you know them
The skirts are making the skating apparently less appealing, please put Drew and Matt in dresses or only film the popstars, from 15x distance Dan 😅

Andy’s shirt is 🔥 gotta love those guys.
You only film higher frame rates to slow down and play back at 24 or 30fps. 120fps equals five times slo mo 24/120 60 fps equals 40% slo mo 24/60...
Townes van Zandt is an insane pull for a skate soundtrack
Dan keeps secretly panning to the ladies. 🤳😂
Thanks Dan
Damn! The Ann Van plug came out of nowhere! That's cool that you know about it
The P Diddy/Predator joke is why I watch your videos.

They are called Jersey barriers because New Jersey state highway engineers designed them in the 50's.

I’ve skated the strathcona barrier that Andy’s talking about. It’s at the perfect angle.
