  • In this case, a ticket issued by a machine purported to bind the customer to contract conditions. However, the contract was already concluded by the time the ticket was issued, and so the provisions were not part of the contract.

    Car parking law in the UK is hugely complex. Some car parks are operated by Councils under one set of rules while others are privately operated under different rules. To make matters worse there are hybrid systems that only serve to confuse the customer even more. Ticketing is now a tangled mess of cash, electronic and automated systems that are frequently unreliable. Who would have thought that parking a car would be so difficult.       It's pretty similar here in Australia, Richard - fortunately I live close to the city centre and hardly drive anywhere! Hope you had a great Christmas :)
