Awesome! Does the flite system allow for turning off the power, like the lift folding prop? I'm finding its a pretty similar glide to sup foil, just a heavier board...it's pretty wild to get into bigger waves so early and easy...like a personal tow in. Though "bigger" is relative when i see this!
Yeh same as Lift, it has a true glide prop which free spins at the same speed as your travelling so there is very little noticeable drag when unpowered, same as Lift. I find the Fliteboard a much better system and ride compared to Lift as Lifts wings are customising with shims etc so you can really tune your ride with Flite. I found lift to be super pitch sensitive too and their mast is pretty flexi. Super fun to have a personal tow in for sure!
Is it hard or dangerous to get into a big wave like this? eFoil seems like it would take very little skill and allow a regular person to get the experience of surfing inside a wave, but would that be dangerous/dumb?
It’s not hard to get into the wave but riding the wave is hard as the e-foils have so much swing weight. Anyone who can ride an efoil would know not to do this unless they were very skilled, because like you mentioned, it would be dangerous and silly 👍🏼
@@misterbennetts What would the dangers be? Would the wave crashing on you hurt you? I've always wanted to experience the wave ride thing but yeah don't live in Hawaii where i can practice for 10 years lol I'm working towards buying a liveaboard sailboat and e-foil sounds like a must-have toy to have on board
It’s a 30kg weapon, so if you fall with it, not only are you falling in 2 foot shallow water over razor sharp reef, but you’ve got to worry about tangling up with it. Riding waves that aren’t surf able are fine if you’re a beginner because you’re not endangering anyone else. But I would never advocate for anyone to foil a surfing wave, especially on an efoil, unless no one was out or only your friends were out (like this day for me).
Geez, always gonna get the token Negative Nancy's here. I would bet my bottom dollar none of those guys have foiled. I haven't foiled. I'd love to, but admittedly am afraid of the dues I'd have to pay in the learning curve. When all my buddies tell me it feels like snowboarding in perfect powder - why would I NOT want to do it? And that drone shot of the foiler out on the shoulder not creating any wake while the surfer is getting barrelled behind him - case closed. If 2 guys can both enjoy a wave together like that, what's the argument?
Thank you for using your common sense and appreciation! And it’s exactly as you described it. Snowboarding in fresh pow in the ocean. It really can’t be described. You won’t regret taking the plunge! 🙏🏼
Epic footage…as you move forward on the slope of the wave, do you go heavy front foot to keep the foil wing underwater? I keep having an issue where as I catch the wave and collapse the prop that I will rise too high off the water and go fully aborne wing and all. Thanks for any input! Also the haters in the comments are hating from the bleachers 😂
Yep, you gotta lean forward to keep it in the water. If I’m riding bigger waves I’ll usually shim the stab for less lift so at speed it doesn’t get too over powering 🤙🏼
@@misterbennettsdude thanks so much. That input was extremely helpful on my last session. It seems like you can take a wider shoulder line and stand taller or attack the steeper section and maximize weight forward…yay or nay?
Yeh would have been better to be on mj prone foil for sure so I could crank some turns, but would need a ski to whip in cause it’s too hard to paddle into waves at this size. So fliteboard was the only option 😃
I was actually riding the inside of the wave. And I was staying super wide. So no one was ever inside me and if they were, I’d get off the wave. I always respect the surfers 👍🏼
You’re not surfing. You’re not using, let alone feeling the power of the waves. No bottom turn, no carving. The surfer in the background looked like they were having way more fun!
It’s pretty difficult to ride a regular foil in 8 foot waves, let alone an eFoil. At the end of the day, I was having so much fun which is all that matters 😃
How much carbon do you burn to fly there, boat there, then charge the thing? Electricity isn't clean energy either. Surfers claim how they love and want to protect the ocean and then they go all over chasing waves shitting in it with their boats, jet skis etc. Surf where you live if you really care
Looks like a good way to film somebody surfing without putting a wake in the wave.
Yeh for sure. We’ve done that before. It works good in front of the wave too. 🤙🏼
Gorgeous!
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Did you manage to get out there foe sassion on your surfboard? Incredible conditions 🙌
Nah, haven’t surfed in nearly 4 years. Staying loyal to the foil 😅

@@misterbennetts You just answered my question I posted a second ago thanks!
Super!
🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
How is the drag of the prop when the wave is fully pushing you? Was any power going to the motor or was all the energy from the wave?
Yeh tons of drag with the prop. But no power to the prop as it was free spinning as I had the true glide prop on and just riding the foil 👍🏼
Looks like just about the most fun you can have with your pants on!
Haha yep

Definitely not a waste. I caught 20 waves in an hour and was going so fast! It was super fun!
