You people had better cherish this while you can. If the creative genius of Lynley Marthe comes around ONCE in a life time, including yours, you're real lucky. Count on it.
I can hear in these lines Lynley is original but he's done his homework influenced by bass legends like Anthony Jackson and I can hear Jaco in there. Not an easy feat to master those improvised running low outside lines like Jackson, who to me invented that sound. Lynley's harmonics knowledge on the neck makes his bass sparkle. I'd rather hear Lynley groove... he's an amazing soloist, massive chops, but bring on the groove! This guy is one of the greatest. I gotta look up his current discography to really check him out. Any suggestions of Albums? RUclips live performances? His playing with the Zawinul Syndicate are worth repeat listenings, what a master musician. 😊
I don't know about Jaco, but I only know how to play guitar. And this inspires me more than most guitar players do. Linley is in a completely different zone of absolute creative genius. Make a note, pun intended, of it; and stick the note on your collective heads.
This guy sounds nothing like Jaco. Its a compliment to make the comparison but he reminds me more of Percy Jones actually. He is looking to coax diffrent sounds out of the bass with pedal effects and also the use of his fingers and the way he pulls on the strings. These are not conventional clean bebop or blues based solos. I also think his sound eminates from his country of origin like Richard Bona's.
I had to put him on a level on his own. No other bassist is remotely like him, simply otherworldly. Nathaniel Townsley is also a top notch drummer.
Amazing, yes, very original !

Absolutly the most creative bass solo I ever heard, no doubt!!!! Linley Marthe (attacks!) is a pure "alien bass player"!!!😅
Mamma mia santissima.....

Amazing creative is right. It's called creative genius. Make a note, pun intended, .. of it, and stick the note on your collective heads.
Pure genius!!! The absolute best bass player in the world in my book!
