  • A demo of my Ibanez JS100 Joe Satriani guitar. Playing through a Laney VH100R head into a Marshall 1922 cab, miked up with two SM57's (one on axis mid cone, the other off axis near the edge of the cone) straight into the desk.
    As usual the standard player's caveat applies: It's about the tone not the playing, Im out of practice, my fingers were cold, I was rushed for time, Im a bass player, I used to be good now Im just famous etc etc...
    Catch some more info about my rig at aaronsoundguy.w...
    And a small apology to Mr Satriani and As I Lay Dying for attempting to play your music without practicing it properly first. I love you guys.

    @Scopitone7 yeah dude, i just checked the Ibanez site about the JS range, they say: "JSBDG, JS20TH, JS2400, JS1600, JS1200 and JS1000 are precision-made in Japan" notice they dont mention the JS100 :-(
    i wouldnt worry too much, im sure the build quality is still quite good. it seems to matter less where instruments are made these days. im quite happy with mine (i couldnt sell it, i tried!) i just need to upgrade the pickups

    Thanks! Well in the video I am using a crapload of gain at a really, really high volume, so the JS100's with stock Ibanez AH humbuckers can 'handle' high gain shredding no problem. I have played countless metal shows and recording sessions with this guitar. My preference now is to upgrade to the DiMarzio FRED and PAF Pro pickups purely to improve the tone. The AH's are good, but ...kinda average. Its much cheaper to upgrade than buy a higher model JS guitar - if you are happy with a JS100.

    Hi Morteza! Cool that you are branching out into electric guitar, I love bass and have always taken it seriously also. I think things like vibrato, bending, and playing chords cleanly may, generally speaking, be the biggest points for a converting/branching bass player. And if you arent using a pick regularly, I suggest learning good technique and really working on it - its SO important. The JS100, yeah im 'happy' with it, but 9/10 times I would use my SG instead. Do you want a floating tremlo?

    i loved the performance and that part like at 6:05 where u made "um something like this" just like in a steve vai dvd ahahah... i'm thinking about buying this guitar does the floyd rose get the guitar out of tune very easily?? and does the neck work well in faster solos on the end of the neck? sorry for my bad english :b

    @Scopitone7 the best ibanez guitars are made in japan, this one however is from korea. but still a high quality, i have gigged with it severely for like 13 years now with no problems. just had to glue the strap-holder screw back into the cutaway at some point

    Hey Aaron, nice video. I have been a bassist for 15 years and recently decided to play elec. guitar. Are you happy with your JS100? One more question, what do you think is the biggest challenge for a bassist "converting" to guitar? Thanks

    Hey Molly, well the tremlo is awesome. You can go totally Steve Vai on it and it will stay in tune, even if you use a fan :-) There are lock-nuts to clamp the strings down over the nut before the tuners, thats what keeps it in tune so well. I find the neck is a good balance between a rounder, older style like les paul and extreme flat style like a Ibanez jem. Its the neck that Satriani uses, and I personally like it for fast playing. So I totally recommend these guitars, they are great value.

    hmmm, depends on what pups you are using now and how much your friend is selling the Axis pups for... I think a safe bet especially for your styles would be something EMG or DiMarzio. Im a periphery fan and they use DiMarzios. It depends on your budget, but I would rather buy something from the cheaper DiMarzios than buy an Ibanez Axis pickup. They are OK, but not something I would spend money on. Keep in mind, almost all of the tone comes from the pickups, try to get the best. Hope that helps!

    1) it's PRESTIGE, not precision
    2) that's not a Floyd rose, it's a POS budget trem that's either edge 3 or trs

    • @AaronONeill
      @AaronONeill  10 лет назад +2

      hi sam b
      1) This is not a Prestige series guitar, its a JS series.
      2) I said from the start its a TRS not a "Floyd Rose" licensed trem which does not mean its a POS, dont be such a marketing victim.
      3) Maybe you are a drummer? Good luck with all that you do.

      @SssamB 10 лет назад

      Aaron O'Neill My comment was directed to the other guy below who referred to the TRS as a floyd. And FYI even if it is licensed, it still doesn't change the fact that it is made from cheap, low quality material. So no, I'm not being a marketing victim. I simply speak from experience and the reputation of low grade trems (edge III, trs etc).

      ***** This guitar is over 15 years old with a trs trem, still works flawlessly. Just speaking from experience dude.

    The Atlantic blue color was only made in 96. It's kinda rare
