Video Description
One of my favorite, underrated visuals in Tableau is to compare running sum values year over year! It is a great tool to compare student enrollments, sales and even personal achievements like miles run or silver coins found metal detecting! :-P
Would it be helpful to see how the running sum of values for this year stacks up to previous years? Check out this video to learn how you can compare cumulative values year over year!

I have one scenario. I need to show Sales of last 12 months where every month sales is runningsum of its previous 12 months
For example: i have to show sales trend from May23 till April24 as April is my max date. Here suppose May23 sales running sum of sales from June22 to May 23; similarly June 23 sales is runningsum of sales from July22 to June23 like that
I just answered the same question from you in another video's comments I think. Let me know if that's not the case.
Thank you. Is there a way where we can get Sum of last 12 months sales using LOD. The problem with Table calc is that if there are less than 12 months on the view it only counts the months that are currently displayed. Thank you in advance
Hey Raj, can you provide a bit more detail on what you're looking to accomplish?
High-level, this is the logic you use to get values for the last 12 months:
DATEDIFF('month',[Date],TODAY())
how can you keep these continous values and label the axis for the date such as a month? I'm trying to substitute a month number for their abbreviated names like "Feb" .
Hi Tien. I'm not sure that's possible but maybe you could pair this with another worksheet in a dashboard where the other worksheet just displays month names and looks like it's an axis? It would be a little rough but I think it should work.
@@onenumbertableau I figured it out! I just changed the alias for the numbers and replaced with the month name! Hope that's something new for you. Thank you again.
@@themantien Awesome, I'm glad that worked. Thanks for sharing!
Hi. Is there any way we can publish the dashboards alone with its filters as a website ?
It's definitely possible but it's probably going to require you to host it as a separate webpage and do some custom sizing to embed it (here's one post on how to do that: www.zuar.com/blog/embedded-analytics-how-to-embed-tableau-dashboards-into-a-web-page/#:~:text=On%20your%20Tableau%20Server%20%2F%20Tableau,click%20the%20'Share'%20button.&text=Click%20the%20green%20'Copy%20link'%20button.&text=Edit%20index.,tag%20between%20the%20body%20tags.)
@@onenumbertableau i tried the publish option in server. It publishes all the worksheets including the dashboards. Just to make it clear, is there any less complex way to get the dashboards alone and not worksheets?
@@0SIGMA Got it. So when you publish to Server, you can choose what sheets you want to publish. If you select the dashboard but not the sheets, that should accomplish what you're looking for. Additionally, you could hide worksheets if you prefer that method (help.tableau.com/current/pro/desktop/en-us/environ_workbooksandsheets_sheets_hideshow.htm)
@@onenumbertableau thank youu ♥️
