Jude Cole's Start the Car album is by far the best produced album I've ever listened to. I'm 63 and I've listened to a lot of music in my lifetime and played a lot too. It never gets old. NEVER. It stays in my car CD player. I absolutely love your music Jude. Incredible songwriter. Hell of a musician. Your vocals are one of a kind. Wish I could meet you someday and thank you for writing such great stuff. God Bless my friend.
My wife and I saw him play an acoustic set in a small venue in Chicago in 1995. God, I wish we could revisit that night. Truly, a gifted artist with heart and soul.
@@jennapuhl596 I'm so so sorry Jenna. I share in your grief since I lost my daughter 3 years ago. She was 35. She crossed over and hit a car head on. We think she may have overdosed before the crash. She just couldn't beat the addiction. Thank God the family in the other car were ok. ❤
Well... I dunno. I mean, this my be his most emotive -- whoever this song is about, he's feeling it!! But songs like House Full of Reasons, Low Life, Worlds Apart, even Sheila Don't Renember have to be in the discussion
This CD is one of those you may put on your computer, ipod, phone, but you just can't bear to get rid of it. Every song on it has a message... One of my favorites...
This is a prime example of how pop music can be and often is a worthy artform. Hadn't heard this in many years until it popped into my head today. That's why I love RUclips.
So glad to see some Jude finally on the tube. This guy's music, once it gets inside you it never lets go. And that's really a good thing. And even though there is not much Happy Ever After in all of his themes, like therapy, somehow you still come away with a gladness to be alive. Jude, your sound feeds our souls. Thank you. It's good to be alive.
I hadn't heard this song in I bet in 15-20 years,. Heard it again in the PX at Barksdale AFB, and started singing along with it like I wrote it. :) Found it on U tube today and am driving my wife crazy listening to it over and over lol. Kinda makes me sad, I sure miss the those days.
It's a shame they don't make music like this anymore. This guy is so talented it's not even funny. Jude, start writing and performing again. We need you. Thanks for posting this video.
I absolutely love this song. Wish he would come back out. All these other older bands and solo artist do, so could he. I would go see him and buy his CD.
If we have lived long enough I think we can all relate to this song at one point in our life. I remember when this song first came out. I fell in love with its song and the great guitar rifts indicative of that period. They have a unique sound for that period. Used by other bands during that period you just dont hear that guitar sound these days.
Wow! Last heard this I think back in 1992 or something on MTV! Memories coming back... the late 80s and early 90s were filled with artists like this guy, Richard Marx, Bryan Adams etc... Don't care what anyone says, I love this sound!
Love this song, so original and songs certainly don't sound this authentic in late '17. Sad music is so corporate and lame these days. Jude Cole is a forgotten but so talented singer/guitar player. The definition of under-rated.
Jude Cole is an artist that I just didn't fully appreciate back in the day - he's so under appreciated. I could get so drunk off of his music. Awesome voice.
Absolutely love Jude. I wish he would come out with another album like "Start the Car". The whole thing is stunning. You are right he is a lyrical genius.
@@lynnsimpson5639 It reminds me of in the 90s when I used to Jam with some awesome musicians here in Northeast Florida. My friend Rick Powell turned me on to Jude Cole 😍💕 I had never heard of him. So beautiful!! Whatever happened to Jude do you know?
@@jennapuhl596 A couple of years ago I found some interviews of Jude on You Tube. He was performing at small venues. With things the way they are now I doubt he's able to do much at all. 😷 And that's sad. Maybe see what you can find on You Tube. He has several other albums that are really good. But they're nothing like Start The Car album. I never get tired of it. Never.

I absolutely LOVED this album when it came out. I'm pretty sure I wore the tape out :) It's such a shame that it came out when it did (when grunge was huge). If it came out today people would go bananas for it..It's really that good :)
Wow ya I remember the moment she said it was over. Imagine the feel of ice cold steel of the blade, the quick swipe of the blade as it slices through the heart. The agony and disbelief. The inability to breath without a conscious thought. If you have experienced this....well you just haven't lived.!
C'mon you guys!!! Half of you are talking of old memories, the way back when when he has 2 brand new albums out!!! Also, he chose to raise 2 sons and not go back on the road and play all over the place!!! Wow!!! Isn't his love for his 2 sons really reflect what he made of inside??? His 2 new albums was just something he had to get out of his system but won't promote them. Hooray for him!!!💓💓💓💓💓💓💓
Jude Cole was in a band called The Records on Virgin Records. They were from London, England and Jude was the only American in the band. They released about 3 albums. The two main singers were John Wicks and Jude. Both of them are now part of the Los Angeles music scene. I wouldn't be surprised if Jude and John have done or will do a reunion tour with The Records, as they have a cult following with fans of power pop and punk music.
lol, messed that one up. Last sentence, I was reminded of the good music I used to listen to!!! I am sure I wrote that, I don't know why it isn't there! It is now!!!

Something about the way your eyes lately
Look up and down and everywhere but me, yeah
Something about tonight I know is missing
And I know it's more than insecurity, yeah
After all, all the time we've spent together
Don't you think I'd feel something
If I have to read your mind
Maybe we're just wasting time
Tell the truth
You know my heart is in your hand
So give it up or make a stand
Tell the truth
Come on, tell the truth
There's no sense in going on this way, baby
You know it's time to say what you mean
There's no sense in going out trying to replace
A love that never came clean
After all, all the time we've spent together
Don't you think it's worth something
If I have to read your mind
Maybe we're just wasting time
Tell the truth
You know my heart is in your hand
So give it up or take a stand
Just tell the truth
Come on, tell the truth
Let's start it over, or call it over somehow
(Start it over, or call it over)
Just bring your love back to me baby
Baby, somehow
[ Solo ]
So if you want to be mine
Baby, let's stop wasting time
Just tell the truth
'Cause you know my heart is in your hand
So give it up or take a stand
Just tell the truth
I said, if you want to be mine
Baby, stop wasting time
Just tell the truth
'Cause you know my heart is in your hand
So give it up, give it up
Come on, tell the truth
Let's start it over, or call it over
(Start it over, or call it over)
Just bring your love back to me baby
Baby, somehow
(Start it over, or call it over)
Over
(Start it over, or call it over)
Bring it on back to me baby
Baby, somehow, yeah

That harmonic color - that slowly erodes with each decade
