Omg that's was so nostalgic I remember my grand pa starting up his tractor evry morning...now it's in bad state I wish It can turn on again even once...really it's bring memories back thank u man for the video thank you so much.
I love these kinds of videos.....just wonderful and better than any thriller....... So amazing-this old lady was sitting under heavens open sky since 1985 and still....she is alive-great video. Imagine how nice she must have been, when someboby left her there to rot......
scott vincent ,ya that was the quality which was the first priority of old companies of that time but know machines runs thats important, how much it will run it dosent matters...
my uncle has one of these passed on from my grandfather. it was overhauled apart from the carb. runs on both petrol and tvo (parrafin) drove it myself. fergusson one of the first to have hydraulics.
Simon John Hinton harry ferguson invented the 3 point hitch , he made a tractor with david brown (ferguson brown ) then with ford (8N , 9N ... ) but in the end he started his own company and called it ferguson , the company teamed up with massey harris in the late 50 s and the company massey ferguson was born , still going today
Guys also there's a (easy start button on the diesel pump) and a decompression lever aswell to make it start easier.you could have filled the rad with hot water aswell.
That is a very strong good quality starter and battery. The jumperleads weren't the best as the clamps were smoking. Great video and you got the engine running.
Anyone reading this, when you have an engine thats been sitting for a LONG time, namely Diesels, and they for the life of you will not start, put some oil in the cylinders, just enough to create a film around where the ring and cylinder meet. With a dry cylinder you loose the compression around the ring that otherwise would be "wet". What works great is Cooking Spray Olive Oil, just open the inlet and spray in as you rotate the engine on the starter.
Look up Deep Cycle batteries. They are used a lot in marine motors and land vehicles with large stereo systems. Marine motors because they don't have alternators on most outboards and for car audio for obvious reasons.
I thought the starter motor might not hold out it held together well , there's a lot of stuff on the te20s rebuilds and stuff ,and a good source of info if you type in vintage tractor engineer if you go into stories I put an article in there about my dexta I'm doing up. All the best ant from Wales
Mal sehen was man machen kann...
+Mitcher Meandan Someone (one of my sisters or my girlfriend??) has stolen my scrunchy. So I need to use hamper; lovely, isn't it? By the way, a lot of ants and other stuff came out of the elbow direct into my face :-)
Well done there's hope for my old thing then that I have bought ! That too has stood a long time they just left it where it stopped in field , gonna be a nice project to do up . Are you restoring it ?
Hi Tony, actually I’m a beginner as well. My brother and I just thought that it would be nice to know if the TEF is still alive. A good friend told me how to restore it. We may try it next summer…
one or two embols of the fuel pump is stuck from the rust..thats why the engine goes up and down and sounds like that..but anyway its a good thing it came back in life:-)
Is it TVO/petrol?. If so I wonder is the TVO/Petrol seperator in the tank rusted through?. My Grandads did and the engine would not start cold. This one is on 3 cylinders.
nice to see an old girl come back to life after being sat for far too long. Wander why she was parked up and left? do you have a backstory on the TE20?
+pugman205 As far as I know was my stepvather a employees by Deutsche Post in the seventies. Because of the fear of the cold war he imigrated to italy to get a farmer. There he bought some chicken and a while later this TEF 20.
here you go...ps did you do any more to the tractor? When Ferguson realized that Ford had no intention of opening a 9N line in Great Britton, and thus putting Ferguson at the lead, Harry investigated looking into starting his own line of tractors, This also coincided with the break-up of the hand shake agreement. With the ending of the Ford supplied tractors to Harry's US distributor network he need a supply of tractors, He contracted with Sir John Black of the standard motor company to build these tractors. Thus, the TE-20 was born. The initial TE-20 had Continental Z120 engines in them. This is because the Standard Motor Company's "Standard Motor" was not ready. The TE-20's were manufactured for the USA market and were shipped to the States. The TE-20 with the continental Z120 engine was built up until SN 48,000. During the final production period TEA-20's and TE-20's were built side by side. The TEA-20 is the exact same tractor as the TE-20 with the exception that the motor on the TEA-20 is a Standard motor from the standard motor company. Both were built on the same Banner Lane assembly line in Coventry England. The TE-20 version ended as the TO-20 line started up in Detroit, MI USA. Due to tariffs, taxes etc. The TO-20 supplied the USA market, while the TEA-20 line supplied the British Commonwealth market (i.e. Canada) and the rest of the world. TE is short of Tractor England TO is short for Tractor Overseas... i.e. USA Now market condition and consumer demand put pressures on Ferguson to provide a large variety of variants on the same basic tractor design. That is one serious start. A king kong battery smoking the hell out of the starter. Shoulda took the tie to clean the carb and fuel lines at least..but watever

Why abandon an operational(maybe not passing inspection, but operational) car? My guess would be it was unnecessary and worth very little money. Why _not abandon it_ if you have a business to run and more important things to do? Maybe you even believe it will stay good outdoors, in case someone ever needs it. The you forget and don't really care. After 30 more years more people began to see the historical value in these things. 30 year old cars are scrapped all the the time, even when they are "operational". Same goes for 1957 models in 1987 and way before that. No one(most of the time) in 1987 thought a reasonable restorable 30 year old junk car would be a piece of history by 2017, it was junk. Now it would probably be valuable, but at least it would have needed to be preserved indoors. Why go through that hassle if you never realized it would pay off? How many people today are willing to pay in order to preserve their rusted beat up 1987 Volvo in case it would be valuable in 2047?
+Karl Schubert "Of course" is a little of a long shot. These were available with petrol engines as well and at least in Sweden they are pretty common with petrol engines.

Amazing ! I have Massey Ferguson your engine is like my heart, I will never change brands! Massey Ferguson forever 🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜
Harry Ferguson was an Irishman who designed the TE 20 that was manufactured in England by Ferguson company. Nothing to do with Massey.
damm; i never see anything like that before; the toughest starter ever made.thanks for the upload.
COOL! Geeze, a lot of folks worried about that starter. Glad you got it started. It sounded really cool. Well done!
OMG!!!!!!! That starter must capable of surviving a nuclear blast!!!!!

starters didn't crap out like they do now with a little work you can drive that right out of that brush

thats not the point of a cold start
I own one of these. What's the point so if theirs starting AIDS there you should use them instead having it turning over for half a day.
That's not a diesel
Or.boiled.the.diesel.first
Nice start brothers
Worth restoring

what the hell kind of battery did they use to crank that tractor for so long?
We used a 240Ah lead accu.
+Karl Schubert got a link to that battery. that thing is a beast, it cranked for ever without bogging down.
i know right
+Karl Schubert lucky you did not burn the starter out
Look up Deep Cycle batteries. They are used a lot in marine motors and land vehicles with large stereo systems. Marine motors because they don't have alternators on most outboards and for car audio for obvious reasons.

Now thats a great way to destroy the starterengine..
Yeah if your getting smoke off the starter it's probably a good time to stop
Smoke came off the clamp. Dont worry, nobody will destroy the starter.
that starter would crank for an hour before anything happened
No problem! It also has a hand crank!
Technik die begeistert. Will das moderne Auto sehen das nach so vielen jahren der vernachlässigung noch anspringt.

Good job and video
That poor starter motor. I'm amazed it survived that.
Must of had a good battery too
Are you guys planning to restore it ? 🙂
Coole Sache! Gibt es noch andere Videos von dem Tracktor? Habt ihr ihn gerettet?
Wir werden versuchen ihn zu retten. Aber die Kupplung ist verrottet, der Tank im A****, die Bremsbänder hinüber und so weiter. Mal sehen was man machen kann...
My favorite part of this clip is the gy's hair tie starting at 3:20. It takes a real man to wear a ribbon in his hair! Good on you, bother!

I can relate. I also have long hair and have to share my scrunchies with my sister and Ma.
T e 20 Hydraulic
The sad story is it must have been in an OK order when it just left there 30 years back, if it was at least dry stored it would be a jewel now
Thanks for the correction.

Fuck me dead I'm younger that the ferggy I don't start that well in the morning! I better git me a deep cycle battery!

one or two embols of the fuel pump is stuck from the rust..thats why the engine goes up and down and sounds like that..but anyway its a good thing it came back in life:-)
That’s a strong starter

To byly zlaté stroje lidi. Moderní traktor bych po půl roce stání nerozchodil. 😀
How many batteries did it take to get going is what I am thinking
Is it TVO/petrol?. If so I wonder is the TVO/Petrol seperator in the tank rusted through?. My Grandads did and the engine would not start cold. This one is on 3 cylinders.
It's diesel
sounds just like the day it left the factory)))))
lol. but a bit more smokey....
+Simon John Hinton Probably due to oil that has fallen down from the valves..
Old oil seals or guides. Used to have an old ford capri that used as much oil as it did petrol lol
at least the pump rack was not stuck
What did you use to start apart from the quick start is it a set of jump leads
I only used an old t-shirt to protect my hands. I burned myself on the clamps before
Humph that's exactly how my old Honda started and ran.
