you need to convert the AI vector layers that are in AE into shapes. in the composition with your AI layers in it, right-click, go to Create, and select Create Shapes From Vector Layers
What's wrong with this tutorial is that you enable watch in the position at the beginning. You shouldn't. If you copy and past the path, it will just generate keyframes in position.
Already these things are tough to understand even for well versed media industry folk.....in this you cant even speak and wanna teach something so complex by just showing it. Why try to make videos and get views if you cant invest in a mic or talk ?
