This should win an award as the most helpful tutorial!! No super long intro, no "and on windows the shortcut is", and just speeds through like normal. Crazy value here, thanks a million dog.
Such a clean and effective tutorial! Nothing fancy and over the top, yet the subtle details really made the whole scene so impactful. Thank you for this tutorial!
please don't stop making tuts I really like your style, because you don't make any fast-paced cuts, in my opinion we as learners like to see the small details it does make a difference.
Just to share, on top your fantastic explanations, you took care of your viewer mental health by doing this in a moderate pace, easy to follow along, won’t create anxiety and the music is so soothing. Thank you.
Wow, didn’t expect it to be so easy based off how polished it looks. Definitely going to use the highlight text animation in my next video essay. I am watching one video of yours every day for two weeks to up my motion graphics skills, thank you so much!!
Once you break it down it’s way simpler than you’d think. It’s all about finessing and packaging. Their videos also heavily rely on good design, which helps a lot as well
Dude, your tuts are some of the most practical and helpful for documentary/youtube videos! Please keep at it. You deserve a lot more recognition and I'm sure with time, you will get it!
@@mapal I'm serious! I'm trying to make my videos Vox style and I must have seen at least 25 tutorials by now lol and I've seen this video of yours about 6 times I think, and in x.05 because I'm new to after effects hahaha, just thanks
This is awesome!!! I've been learning AE for more than 4 years and hands down, this is the best and most thorough AE tutorial I've ever seen! Keep up the good work!👏🏽💯
This is incredible. Thanks for sharing!! There's information for everyone in these types of videos... I feel that even knowing most of the basic stuff of motion graphics, there are so many advanced tips here and there that I've learned so much!
Thank you for sharing! This tutorial makes my day, I've been obsessed with this type of animation but couldn't do it by myself due to my knowledge. Cannot say thank you enough for you.
I just want to say tahnk you for so much you have helped me in my new job as an editor. Definetly have been learning more with you that in my University.
Way back in 2018, I worked at Disney / ESPN. VOX was one of our main sources of inspiration/ reference for most of the videos 😊 I studied their multiple videos frame by frame, shortlisted multiple elements, and made them into templates for reuse in our videos.
Love seeing you get the recognition you deserve, Mapal! Granted, I'm a little late to the party but you're a DAWG at design. Video, animation... Just creativity in general. Keep crushing!
I think you are doing a REALLY good job with your channel! CONGRATULATIONS! Keep up with the good work! Video editing is a new whole world for me and this kind of tutorials DO really help to understand how to animate and take good ideas. Have you consider making complete courses on AE, PS and Pr on YT? I think there is an increasing demand of people looking for tutorials to learn these softwares but the information is so randomnly scattered. Having well structured courses, with several lesssons/YT videos, both for beginners and advanced users, would probably give you a competitive edge and make your channel grow even faster...
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words. I have thought about it but making a course is not for me. I don’t enjoy the process of it however I will probably make videos that cover those topics
yooo brother amazing video ive been watching for hours now hahaha thank you so much, i have a question though. i just installed flow and i have no idea how to actually open it because when i click on extensions nothing shows up. im on macos and need help thank you in advance
Pro Tip: For the camera shake adjustment layer, I recommend you add a wiggle expression instead...example: wiggle(2,10). and then pick whip the frequency number (first number) to a control slider named frequency, and then pick whip the amplitude number (second number) to a control slider named amplitude. Now you can simply keyframe the frequency/amplitude to begin and end whenever.
Thank you so much for this! Im effective at Premiere and this was my first tutorial in AE and I had to search a lot of extra info because this is not an easy first tut but I kept googling and searching and working and I managed to do it all and I learned so much I feel like: masks, null, the whip thing, trimming layers, precomping, moving anchors etc etc even photoshop! I bet for the avarage viewer this is all like "aha, like that" but for me it were mountains to climb and it was fun :P Im gonna look through your other tuts aswell and if I can make some money in the future with these tips I will send you some ':D
Loved reading this comment! People like you are why I enjoy making these videos. It's not about being the best or knowing everything immediately. It's about learning new things and practicing problem solving and most importantly HAVING FUN! Being able to enjoy the process of learning (even if it is hard) you're going to be successful and happy. Can't wait to see what you end up creating!

Amazing work man, using a lot of things you are teaching,, thank you!
It's a part of the expression. When you alt click the stopwatch for something like the parameter you can add it to apply posterize time to the expressions you add
At 4:36 you've added posterise time and then wiggle. Where did you add the wiggle? When I was doing it, after effects said that there is an expression error. Where do I add the wiggle and posterise?
When you alt click the position a little text box should show where you input the expression. You’ll want to type it out like this Posterizetime(12) Wiggle(200,2)
As everyone points out you're the best to do it. One question - where do you find good looking maps? I can't seem to find a middle ground between cheap looking free vectors and Geolayers3
@@mapal oh ok, but i still dont have the saber effect even tho i unstalled and added after affects again do you know why, and ty for replying luv your content bro

Truly grateful for these animation videos you make. Definitely the top channel for this stuff. I was wondering, does it land under "Fair Use" policy if you use maps from places like Harvard's curiosity collection?
I’d definitely be careful and make sure you ain’t using copyrighted stuff in your work. I try to look for a really old work where copyright has expired. As far as I’m aware and I could read teaching is covered in fair use so I’m not super worried about it for the tutorials
Man, I don't know why we don't have so many more people talking about Vox channel. It's completely amazing.
probably because it's known to be visually amazing, but politically insane.
@@fod1855 politically objective and fearless I'd say, they talk about topics that the rest of the media tries to hide
