      They fucked the epilogue up in a lot of ways. John looks more like Arthur Marston, his hair, his good NPC outfits aren't available, but yeah the worst part is the music. There is zero reason why they couldn't have added some classic RDR1 music into the free roam experience as John.

    • @vicecityrocks1
      @vicecityrocks1 3 года назад +29

      RDR 1 has a much more concise and consistent story along with its open world mechanics than RDR2 does. I’m replaying RDR2 as a bad Arthur and it really shows how on rails the story is, for the player and for Arthur. They give you choices in some aspects of side content but in the actual main story where it matters, there’s only one way to go everytime. I wanted my second play through to have a bit more freedom so I mess around with systems and do more bad things. The game really doesn’t like you venturing off of their preferred path, constantly giving me fail screens for walking two inches too far away, or not doing something I needed to in time, or etc. etc. It’s just constant and it’s very invasive and immersion breaking. To the point where at times I wish the “cinematic camera” mode had an autoplay button too, because I find myself just riding off to whatever exact place they want me to, so I can do whatever exact chores they want me to do, without any deviation. Unlike in Witcher 3, where you can make choices yourself that have rewards or consequences that you may or may not be aware of. That’s fun gameplay design. Riding for 10 minutes just to accidentally bump into someone and get a fail screen because somehow they called the cops immediately even though you’re in the middle of nowhere, not fun game design.
      RDR1, seems to have more meaningful choices in its story as well, and you have a reason for doing it. In RDR2’s story Arthur is just doing any and everything for seemingly no benefit. It’s almost infuriating at times because it’s like he must be high why is he doing this shit. They even made John Marston a total cuck, barely even doin anything about his own child being kidnapped. The epilogue has the best story in the whole game because it makes sense and is completely focused. RDR2’s story does not feel designed for an open world game at all.

    Literally brings me so much happiness and comfort I want to cry. I don't even know why, I only started playing it in about May of this year... My dad got a new TV and put this game in the PS3 to test the TV... I watched him play for a couple weeks and fell in love, and he taught me how to play (I don't ever play video games and I suck at them). At first I didn't realize that the game was open world, and the only place I thought I could go was MacFarlane's Ranch. I remember walking out into the open prairie and seeing everything that I could explore and discover, and I remember being so magically in awe of this for some reason. I have been playing this game for months and months and refuse to finish it because I don't want it to end. It's like therapy for me, and I don't know why. But I love this game so much.

    I remember the first time I played Undead Nightmare, I was so mesmerized by the horrors of the game in every way. Then when I got to the Ranch, and after clearing the undead, it was like the purest breath of fresh air because of this song playing.
    RDR2 is great and all, it’s one of my all time favorite games, but RDR1’s soundtrack just takes the cake for me. So many undeniable happy memories with it. Makes you wish you can go back and relive it all again for the very first time.

    This game and soundtrack are part of my soul. Grand theft auto is good, but this is big boy stuff. Philosophy and its detriments in the wrong hands, morality, betrayal, responsibility (more rdr2 for that), and im not religious but i like the whole biblical element of it all and the mission names to go with it. Res dead taught me a lot about actions and consequences, and how to deal with the random side characters you meet in real life 😂 help or avoid. They say video games are ruining us, yet I played this at 10 yrs old until rdr2 at 18 and its made me a better man lol
