NEW SILAGE COVER IS FINALLY OPEN!!!... Alan Clyde & John McClean | FarmFLiX

  • John gives Alan a hand on the farm to open the new silage cover. Has the silagesafe system made a difference? The boys are a bit slow taking the cover off, too busy talking nonsense and throwing tyre's at each other but how good a job did the buckrake man do and the John Deere tractor that rolled it. Alan is not the average farmer and if its good enough for the cattle and sheep, its good enough for him to eat .

The great unveiling! It looked real good, no manky sides, Alan risked eating some and the sheep liked it, I'd say the green sheets were a success. Alan has lost some weight has he got any tips? Though I draw the line at eating silage!, lol.

I've seen lads putting salt around the sides of maize pits before alright. What I've seen to be a very good job to seal the ramp on silage pits is to cover it in round bales. Done it on a maize pit before. Covered 90% of the pit in bales and had more or less zero waste. Great job.
