Amen to carrying multiple compasses. I’ve had one demagnetize. It was my son’s. Thankfully we noticed before we left for a camping trip so we stopped at an REI on the way to get a new one. It’s too easy to carry multiples without gaining too much weight. I keep one in my kit, one in a shoulder pocket, and a small clipper compass in a survival pouch. Plus I have a Garmin and my phone. If I get lost, I deserve whatever bad comes my way.
