The legendary Broadway Joe is my all-time favorite NFL player and the #1 reason my team is the NY Jets. So I LOVE this appearance on "The Brady Bunch". NFL fan since mid 70's.
Loved the Namath & Drysdale shows. Every boy's dream was to be like them. So it was no surprise to witness "Be Like Mike" in '90s or Tiger mania in '00s.

It was because he kept such a low profile that I assumed he was dead. Now of course I see him on the Medicare commercials a lot!
When Bobby's friends were bragging about their fathers having met superstars, when they asked him if he knew anyone, he could have told them that Don Drysdale was once at their house, and that his father designed the house that he was probably still living in. His friends who were bragging obviously never met any of those superstars themselves, which meant that Bobby was one up on them. At least he would have been telling the truth.

I honestly think this was really Joe's personality, he seemed like a genuinely cool guy and would probably say the same thing and react the same way in real life, if some stupid kid pretended to be sick to meet him, he'd laugh about it, and say exactly the same thing, it's mighty flattering having someone wanting to see me as badly as you wanted to.
