    What Baldwin said at the end; man don't I remember. At times as a kid we would have 4 or 5 namaths on our little yard field. I'm Namath, no I'm Namath. Both qbs were Namath. Hell yeah.

  • @joeleicht5764
    @joeleicht5764 2 года назад +45

    When you look at Namath's career stats, it might seem like he has no business being in the Hall of Fame. But younger fans don't realize that if Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Dan Marino, Brett Favre and other legends played under the same rules that Namath did (which made the passing game much more difficult) they would not have been able to put up the numbers that they did.

    • @timbrown5576

      QBs back in those days were lucky to get out of the game alive.

    • @wvu05
      @wvu05 Год назад +7

      If Tom.Brady played under the rules in Namath's day, he wouldn't have lasted one season. As far as overall statistics, the 1978 rule changes so altered the passing game that you almost have to compare before 1978 to after.

    • @TheAutumnWind_RN4L

      @wvu05 thank you and the other fellas for these comments. I get tired of hearing people go on an on about Goat this and Goat that. The only thing that can be quantified is who was the greatest of their era.

    Many millennials who criticize Joe Namath have never watched one full game from the 1970s.
    Statistic #1 - Joe Namath retired as the NFL ALL-Time passing leader at 197.6 Yards Per Game.
    Statistic #2 - Went to 5 NFL Pro Bowls (would have been at least 8 without injuries)
    Statistic #3 - Twice led the AFL in passing
    Statistic #4 - Won an AFL MVP Award
    Statistic #5 - Won an AFL Championship
    Statistic #6 - Won Super Bowl III to literally create the NFL with the merger.
    His TD passes and interceptions are meaningless, because his coach usually ran the ball into the end zone, and he often threw long passes on third down to count as punts instead.
