When extending the Ascent rear, I found using a pen spring on both ends of the drive shaft keeps the center driveshaft from falling out. Looking really good 👍🏽
My buddy here in the Wichita Mountains area did this exact same thing with the new white body, and that thing is a MONSTER! It will blow people's mind! It's like they were meant to be together. Great video, brodda!
Yeah that was a nice climb, nice and slow controlled. Really looks good with the rollbar and lights I’m digging it. Well as always I’ll catch you on the next one until then peace and chicken grease 👋👋😁
This looks awesome man, I just put an injora Cherokee body on mine and it mounted right up. I’m not a hardcore crawler person who plans on doing any competitions so I wasn’t worried about losing LCG, but it is still just as capable now with added brass inner wheel weights to counter the body weight.
I wish I had endless cash.. I'd sit at home, never work and build forever... A man can dream. My first build ever is a 2000+ dollar VRD so.. I definitely cant afford anything else right now.
I have a Gs02f chassis that I fubared the body for it on accident. He's going to print up a set of mounts for the Xtra cab body, going to be awesome, plus it already has a fusion 1800kv in it
Awesome looking Yota brother. Like how ya matched wheel/tire combo for that era of truck as well. Picked up some like that for my square body Gen8 build.
The Toyota body looks great!! Love it. What I don’t love is the new Ascent!! Only because I just bought the first version not even two weeks ago!! Not buying another crawler!! 😡😡
No. Honestly my og ascent is such a performer that I didn’t want to touch it. I’ve added a lot of weight, went servo on axle etc with it. So the ascent fusion was brand new untouched and I decided to use it lol
@@Jeff1972GoPro I appreciate it! I’d say you could just flip the motor mount on it or you could definitely swap to the motor mount from the original ascent and be fine.
Looks very nice. I like the body. I don't think this is C1 legal. Rear bumper? Not sure how much fender overhang you have. But it really looks like a nice project.
If Im not running a 2 piece driveshaft I always use a couple of pen springs inside the shaft to keep it all centered. but red cat makes a relly good 2 piece shaft thats really cheap and just cut it to size
Esta genial, donde se puede conseguir ese body?? Que otro body tienen para esa camioneta ?? Cuanto cuesta?? Yo quiero ...me podrías ayudar para conseguir un body así por favor
never liked toyota bodies... on full scale. this though, its rather nice. and you know.. its the fact that the windows are clear and its got a simple interior.
Looks really good, but just a mediocre truck they just took all The unsprung way away and now you just added it all back so you downgraded it but it looks really cool. Good job but it’s not a crawler anymore.
Yeah I know that. I have the og ascent that is a line killer. Wanted a hard body truck so figured why not build this one into one. I didn’t really NEED another ascent lol
@@TheLilhulk1111 oh yeah. No biggie. It does seem odd to choose this truck with the lower motor mount etc for a hard body build lol. I just really didn’t want to touch my og ascent. It runs too well to mess with 😆
@2fmrc thank you for showing me I could make my class 2 ascent my class 1. Its a dsm chassis line killer. The 3 link front won't effect class 1 nearly as much, and it will make room for a vrd carbon. While you may have "ruined" it's overall ability, unless class 1 weight distribution is wildly different, this is perfect. And all the f10 portal vfd trucks I saw in class 1 would agree.

Ahhh yeah! Much better than stuffing some plastic down in there lol. I found that mod out on the trail one time. All I had with me that would work 😆

Nice! I can’t wait to run it at Beat the Creek this yr hopefully!
@@2fmrc is gonna be a blast. That rig is a monster, even being a hardbody.

This seems like a very good use for this chassis. It's not really a performance chassis with that flat skid, but it's perfect for this hardbody.
I agree! It’s such a simple swap also lol
Great video! Very clever solution the way you’re supporting the bed, love it! Also cool to see how that Fusion front bumper lines up just right🤙
Wow love that body looks awesome dude, here watching 7:15 PM Wednesday 👋👋😎
Really appreciate ya! Hope you have a good one!

That looks fantastic!!! Love that era of the Toyota truck.

Haha! Same here!
I love that dude, that’s looking sharp 👍👍😎
Looks awesome. Great job!! How much body cutting would there be if you decided to run 1.9 120mm tires?
Great job man!Looks so good with the yota body.👍🔥
Thanks! I’m pleased with how it turned out
Beautiful truck. 100%
Thanks!

Hey Matt! I can see you in the window reflection. Can't hide from us.. 😂
Great truck man.. wow.
I love toyota
This build turned out great 🎉
Thanks!
Love ur reviews ! Much love from Michigan!

Nice! Really appreciate it. I thought they fit the truck well.
I love that hilux 👍. I had one back in 1998🤙Toyota are the best 😋. Nice work you did that 😉
Nice! I’d love to have a real one
Yes sir!!! Much love from Michigan
Nice job Matt!
Love it!
Wish I could find it in the 1/18th scale
Wow Matt this truck is so awesome!!! I want it so bad
Really appreciate that! Already one of my favorites lol
i love it man! well done! shorter shocks and maybe even some smaller tires, and itll be extremely competitive even with the hardbody!!
Yeah I bought some smaller tires for it also but preferred these. Can’t go to weak 😆
🤣@@2fmrc
So if I get a redcat ascent fusion I would now do this since it looks like a lifted 90s show truck for offroad
The Toyota body looks great!! Love it. What I don’t love is the new Ascent!! Only because I just bought the first version not even two weeks ago!! Not buying another crawler!! 😡😡
Yeah that’s tough. The og ascent is a beats though. Thats one reason I went with the hard body on this one. My other ascent is already a line slayer!
Making Marty McFly proud
My favorite movies!
Yep, first thing I thought of too!!
Looks awesome! Any reason you started with the Fusion versus the standard Ascent?
No. Honestly my og ascent is such a performer that I didn’t want to touch it. I’ve added a lot of weight, went servo on axle etc with it. So the ascent fusion was brand new untouched and I decided to use it lol
Thanks, I was hoping you would figure out servo on axle for this rig and do a video so I could copy, LoL. BTW- Great channel!

Definitely not C1 legal but I don’t do comps at all. Just crawl for fun.
Way better than the stock body! Not a fan of that style. Yours looks dope!

One word wow

What roll bar is that?
Can you give us the part number for the rear shock mounts that you cut? You said it was from the regular Ascent?yours looks different

Can I have your stock body an tires ! Lol
Already put them back on for some more testing 🤦🏻♂️
Whatd you do to the rear shock towers?
Chopped them down to fit under the body. Didn’t wanna cut holes in the bed of the body
Cpl body?

My thoughts exactly. Looks cool. But that heavy delicate body defeated the purpose of the "Low center of gravity" designed rig.
