12:40 point of correction, Ganso was not overhyped, he was only a victim of the massive shift in football to be more pressing and highly intense meaning his athletism let him down. Even Kaka would have suffered now to get game time because he wasn't the type to do a Odegaard or De Bruyne roles, the modern no.10. The way he plays would have worked if he lived during Kakas era
@user-ir1wz4gl8x please bro, Ganso is no different from Riquelme, he was also regarded as not athletic. The point I was making was, like Riquelme and Kaka, physicality was not an issue back then. You cannot tell me that Ganso was not a great playmaker because he is flourishing in that role at Fluminense and it is no different to how Kaka and Riquelme played in their time. Bottom line is, the game has changed a lot. If I mentioned Ozil, you would have equally tried to cope despite everyone knowing Ozil didn't have much physicality to his game. But Ganso, Robinho and Denilson were very good players, much better than most of European players, who are indeed overhyped. The Brazilians love a good party and samba dance. Once they get that pay packet to set themselves and their loved ones for life, they rarely continue their peaks past 30. Not sure if Denilson and Robinho were overhyped, I agree with everybody else in the list. Both had a great career playing for National team. Denilson as already said was world champion and made his name in La Coruna and Robinho always, I repete always used to play really well for the national team. Robinho made wrong choices in his career but was always an amazing player.
Two players come to mind from FM 15: Gabriel Barbosa and, arguably, Malcom. The former never really caught on in Europe, while the latter wasted his prime years at Barca and oddly stayed at Zenit St. Petersburg long into Russia's invasion of Ukraine, now he's in Saudi Arabia. For shame, his career could have been so much more. By the way, there was also a video on overhyped English players. Where did that go?
i believe you were kinda harsh with Denilson and Robinho, though... Denilson played at same era as Ronaldo, Romario, Ronaldinho, so it's unfair lol and Robinho got a fairly consistent career with somewhat success, we can't consider here "overhyped", he was what he was... the other guys, though, yeah, a huge hype and nothing more
Not sure I agree with the list (Jo had a good career whichever way you cut it, and don't think he was ever that hyped up) but still I really enjoyed the video, very well researched. I did think I'd see Pato on the list somewhere. In many ways I think Neymar should be on the list. I mean, leaving a club like Barca and La Liga, for guaranteed championships with PSG in a second rate league, was indicative of what has been proven by Neymar's Saudi move; motivated by money not glory, concerned with status and celebrity, not legacy. Really never achieved what he could and perhaps have done. Would love to see a video on overhyped Argentines and overhyped English - plenty of candidates for the later 😂
Julio Baptista, Anderson, the Utd twins, Nilmar, Ricardo Oliveira, Wagner Love, Luis Fabiano, Juan Jesus, Dodô (Inter, Roma), Jonathan. Man, those were painful to watch
Robinho had the potential, but not the work ethic. He was just lazy and prone to a party lifestyle. When he got back to Brazil on loan, he was simply overshadowed and overplayed by the rising star of Neymar.
I saw Ganso play in the flesh. He was absolutely woeful. The opposition team stuck a man on him for 60 minutes and I never saw him pass the ball forward once. And Raphinha too
As a Brazilian, I don't consider a player who helped the team win their last World Cup and with good performances when he joined to be overvalued. That's why Denilson should be off this list
Fora da seleção o Denilson é absolutamente irrelevante pro futebol.
Are you a criminal?
@@nicholaspaladino4493putz é mais ou menos isso
If you want to talk about adaptability which I feel Ganso may have found it hard to do, then I may somewhat get your point but that's not my argument nor point.
Ganso was briliant, amazing, but injuries didnt let him become the genius that he could be.
People expected Gabigol to be what Rodrygo is today. But his European carrer was a complete disaster. He surely deserves a spot on this list.
Gabigol Plays better for the national side then Rodrygo.
@@Bigdawg-ys9ij No, he doesn't. He got a lot of chances between 2019 and 2022, didn't perform well in any of them, got behind Richarlison and Pedro.
@@HenriqueM-jh1ye rodrygo has been totallly invisíble for the national side. If only gabigol had Vini, and Rodrygos managers hed be on the national side still. Theyre all equally garbage weak brazilian generation. point made.
@@Bigdawg-ys9ij Vinicius and Rodrygo are way above him, technically speaking.
I can agree with Kerlon, Jô and Keirrison. They were insufficient to European football. Kerlon was insufficient even to Brazilian football. Keirrison in Brazil was like Vitor Roque, but scored many more goals than Roque.
But Ganso, Robinho and Denilson were very good players, much better than most of European players, who are indeed overhyped. Bring commom european players to Brazil, they would not even touch the ball. The skill level in Brazil is higher.
Denilson and Robinho did well in Europe, while Ganso carrer was ruined by his ACL injury, and also he can't perform in fast-paced leagues.
He's a #10 from the 80's and this kind of player doesn't have space in football today, like James Rodriguez.
Remember telling folk for years watch out for this Kerlon chap he is gonna be unstoppable! 😅
Another great video man, cracking subject.
Lol I don't think you were the only one on the Kerlon bandwagon!
Even though I dont watch football I really enjoyed this video
To call ganso overhyped you are just dumb or dishonest. He was and is a genius. He tore his ACL and literally never came back to the same form that he once had. Ganso and Neymer as teenagers were an unstoppable duo. Ganso won the Libertadores last season with fluminense as a starter.
The Brazilians love a good party and samba dance. Once they get that pay packet to set themselves and their loved ones for life, they rarely continue their peaks past 30. But with the prevalent poverty in Brazil, some of them are doing it out of necessity. It's different to somewhere like Japan or Finland, where the players are doing it out of passion
North Americans inn poverty play Basketball, some football when accessible. the main reason USA are lacking end product on the soccer world. physical specimens and elite athletes are generally already committed to other sports.
What the fuck are you talking about?
"Neymar was streets ahead of Ganso" I see a fellow Community fan here, a man of culture.
There were allegations in the 90s and 2000s that certain players were given caps in friendlies and possibly even some qualifiers to inflate their values.

Back when? It was just your ignorance and nothing more 😅
Pato, Dede, Antony, Damiao
Ganso and Denilson are the biggest flops on this list.. i remember how good were they on football manager games back then
Loved watching Ganso
such a shame he couldnt turn out to be more
the enjoy did him in too
Pato and Ganso. Duck and goose.
To slow
18:24 I remember when I was younger the only reason I knew who Denilson was, was because I saw him in that Nike football cage match commercial and looked him up afterwards lol.
Could you do a video on the most underhyped players?
This is a good idea, I like it. I'll add it to the list!
There is not one underhyped player in the world.
Nice video 😊 can you make it series 👍
Glad you enjoyed it. I plan to eventually. I already have one about English players that you should check out!
Wow keirrison never dreamt of hearing that name
Two players come to mind from FM 15: Gabriel Barbosa and, arguably, Malcom. The former never really caught on in Europe, while the latter wasted his prime years at Barca and oddly stayed at Zenit St. Petersburg long into Russia's invasion of Ukraine, now he's in Saudi Arabia. For shame, his career could have been so much more.
By the way, there was also a video on overhyped English players. Where did that go?
i think it's pronounced pah-toh not pay-toh, but you have a new subscriber now pal
You are correct. The "pay" sound would be spelled pei. Also, pato in portuguese means duck
i believe you were kinda harsh with Denilson and Robinho, though... Denilson played at same era as Ronaldo, Romario, Ronaldinho, so it's unfair lol and Robinho got a fairly consistent career with somewhat success, we can't consider here "overhyped", he was what he was... the other guys, though, yeah, a huge hype and nothing more
If you mad that a young player is dribbling like a seal, then maybe you're not in the right sport.
Robinho has recently joined prison but in Brazil, not in the same as Daniel Alves
Robinho had a great career despite the fact he could do more
Robinho had the potential, but not the work ethic. He was just lazy and prone to a party lifestyle. When he got back to Brazil on loan, he was simply overshadowed and overplayed by the rising star of Neymar.
Now Neymar’s the one who is overshadowed and overplayed by veni and mpabbe and Rodrigo
@@aldomelendez5519 yeah, but he actually reached at least some of his potential... Robinho never git close to that.
Lulinha, Breno, Leandro Damiao all exist and you pick Ganso?
Pato??
I saw Ganso play in the flesh. He was absolutely woeful. The opposition team stuck a man on him for 60 minutes and I never saw him pass the ball forward once. He was substituted and looked like he was about to cry his eyes out before he covered his head in a towel. How on earth he was touted as one of the next big stars of world football I have no idea.
and when was that, what year?? you and the guy who made this video most probably didn’t witness his duo with Neymar here prior to Ganso’s ACL injury… then you would probably understand why a LOT of people even thought he was gonna be even greater than Ney
@@guilhermejurgensen5068Yea, exactly. Ganso was really good, his playstyle was similar to Diego, from Werder Bremen, if you remember him.

Denilson is a legend for Betis, even today. And the move was an statement from the ambition of Lopera rather than overhype. Yo can say he wasn't worth that kind of money, as you can say Neymar wasn't worth his transfer fee as well.
I'm interested to know what makes him a Betis legend. Because on paper, he did not contribute much at all.
@@flashbackfootball1367 because we the Betis supporters don't care too much about stats and results and all that, our motto is Viva er Beti manque pierda (in andalusian, traslated as go Betis even when it loses). nice topic ...
lol what Robinho did in 2007 and he’s #1
for people out of brasil have a lil understanding about ganso, he was a genius, out of this world talent, he was the classic 10, dribblng, passing and shooting but after tha injury he became a different player relying only on his talent and giving a fuck about tactics and his commitment with his physical was very poor. this guy is one of the most entertainig player that brazil has produced and its a shame what his career end being in comparison to what it could be
coutinho i cant have that one
I think it’s in the context of the fee
You could now make a list of the most underrated Brazilian players, such as Roberto Dinamite, Alex de Souza or Hulk
Nilmar in lyon🤷♂️
I remember him beeing the main man in the attack in Brazil s 2003 U 20 world cup winning campaign . He was quite promising in those years .
HITC said Ganso played in the wrong era. Had he played in the 80s, when luxury #10s were the standard, he’d have been every bit as good as they said.
I loved Kerlon as a kid he blew my little mind
I'm a Palmeiras' fan, one of Santos' main rivals in Sao Paulo state. I must say when Ganso started in Santos Pro Team together with Neymar, he was a serious good player. A lot of potential. To be honest, if was not by his injuries, he could be a world star right now. Also, it was after his injuries that Seedorf said about "Ganso not being good IF playing in Europe".
You missed douglas, a right back, he was bad here in Sao Paulo, imagine him besides Messi, Xavi, Iniesta and cia?
Ganso was definitely overhyped. He is a slow player that could never play outside of Brazil. Seedorf was the one who told the truth about him.
Bloody hell, putting Martinelli alongside the likes of Vinicius, Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos and even blooming Pele! Give your head a wobble
The two Lucases don't deserve to be in the "honourable mentions." Players that DO deserve to be here are Breno, Branco, Fabio Rochemback, Gabriel Barbosa, Geovanni, Alex (the attacking midfielder, not the defender), Henrique, Elano, Douglas, Vagner Love, Alex Teixeira, Doni, Andre Santos...
Considering that Everton didnt have a real sriker after Rooney, Keirrison should have moved there 8:49
Denilson, Kleberson, Hulk are my top 3.
Oscar and Lucas Piazon Anderson and the Twins that played for Man U could’ve made this a Top 10
Pre injuries Ganso, Owen, Ronaldo, Hargreaves, Anderson, Falcao where all a marvel injuries ruin players
Oh Renato Augusto and Thiago Neves take me back. Either FM 05 or 06

Do a video on 'Lentini'
Giovanni wasn’t overrated, he was a legend at olympiakos .
Ganso was insanely talented in the beginning of his career, not overhyped at all. But he certainly didn’t reach his potencial.
Bro Only got right 3 of them 💀
I remember when Bolton almost signed Denilson, glad we didn't now
I came here to see Denilson De Oliveira on the list. I'm not upset.
Ganso wasn't overhyped, he was THAT GOOD. Then he got injured and came back directly in an european team without a competent coach for him to get used for the european way to play, he was and still is way above brazillian league skill, but his style wasn't what Europe was playing so....
Ganso was my fav on the list :(
The guy who did this video cant tell the difference between legends that were hindered by injury and over hyped players who were never good enough from day 1.
Ganso was legit. Not overhyped.
Robinho was completely overhyped
Denilson was just a dribbler horrible shot and yes overhyped
Pato was overhyped he just had a good agent
Paulinho was overhyped failed in Europe
Muller was overhyped
Ganso was the real deal..injuries derailed his career..he was the last classic 10 Brazil had
Robinho was top ten fifa season and ballon dor in real madrid
Next Rivaldo?
Denilson's game is nothing like Rivaldo. Rivaldo didn't have that type of dribbling skill
People conflate flop for overrated. Hulk was good but... Hulk was 1000% overrated. Hulk only played in Japan, Portugal, Russia and Brazil.
Yet people were comparing Hulk at the time to world class wingers like CR7, Robben, Ribery, Hazard...etc...etc whom did it in harder leagues.
Fred(striker) was another one. He was good but people put him on the same level as David Villa, Fernando Torres, Drogba...etc...etc
Yes, we all critique Hulk's choice of clubs because he chose Zenit over Chelsea. Hulk also had an underwhelming international career.
Hulk wasn't overrated he followed the money at no point in his career was he considered lazy or a flop
@@876jamaicanyouth Looks like you didn't understand my comment mate.
Overrated doesn't mean that you are bad or lazy bro. It simply means that a player gets too much credit. He's never challenged himself and he gets way too much praise and credit.
Deep this bro... Hulk has never won big club competitions(UCL,EPL,La Liga, Bundesliga). Hulk has never made a Ballon d'Or nominee list, Uefa 11, World 11...etc..etc
Yet people rated him as one of the best wingers in the world which is hilarious to me. Hulks best ever season he might have been in 50th-60th best in the world.
@-_-DatDude Hulk wasn't a star for the Selecao either. Hulk was a big fish in a smaller pond where ever he played.
@@Luso00_ Exactly mate. Big fish in a small pond sums up Hulk perfectly.
Dont get me wrong, Hulk wasn't bad. He was just a decent player. But his nickname, physique and his stat padding among plumbers and school teachers gave people the impression that he was as good as Hazard, Ribery, Robben, CR7 or Neymar.
Ganso was and is really good, but he needs a whole system built around him.
COYG.. Our denilson a thought was gonna be world class how wrong lol
I was expecting some guys like Damião, Lenny,Adryan but Robinho,Ganso and Denilson bro really dont know anything about football
I disagree that Kerlon was humiliating anyone .. if he could legitimately go through a crowded defence (except for fouling) then he discovered an unbeatable move.. and he should do it and should be protected by the referee. Then FIFA should change the rules to not allow more than 4 headers in a row like that.. end of.
After WC 86 when they killed the beautiful game 80% of all Brazilian players are overhyped and after 2010 all of them!
I'd have paid good money to see Kerlon try his seal dribble in training with someone like Roy Keane around 😂
Denilson had a good career both with Brazil and Real Betis
About Kerlon, how the heck can you say that he didn't understand the difference between helping his team and humiliating the opponents? Are you saying it's HIS fault that football was always so permissive about fights and that opponents beat the sh*t out of him?
Wtf, seriously
cry more, that clearly wasn't what I was saying.
I remember Kerlon clear as day when he cracked the internet. You just knew his game wouldn't translate to then the modern game.
He was asking to get crunched.
Antony should b first
No doubt
to humiliate a player in soccer means you r the best its a handfull players that have that ability to do that.
