Welcome to New Zealand! Sorry to hear about the difficulties here and in your previous video. I hope things settle down for you and life gets a bit easier :) Also, I have to apologize for the weather lately! It's not typical to rain this much haha. My personal theory is it has something to do with a Tongan volcano that threw 50 million tons of water into the atmosphere last year, and us having had 3 years of La Niña winds (that also makes it wetter). I'm hoping the weather gets back to normal by summer.

I am enrolled with a GP, after a road accident where I was hit from behind I visited my GP for a concussion check. 18 months later I was having neck issues, I visited the GP again. The record was checked, an ACC claim was raised, and I was referred to a specialist, and also had physio treatment while waiting. After seeing the specialist I have been for an MRI and PET scan and a cortisone injection and to date I have only paid a top up fee for the physiotherapy which was covered by my employer.
It may not be the swiftest process, but I am seeing the right professionals and I am not significantly out of pocket.

In NZ its called ACC. My husband broke his wrist, 8 weeks ago and instead of going to the public hospital, which is free, and far from us, we chose to go to an afterhours clinic, close by. Because we aren't registered with them, but with our local Dr, acc only covers 1/2 the price, instead of the full amount. $45 for xray, rather than $90 (full price). Also ACC pays 80% of your earnings, if you cannot work, till the Dr says, you can go back, and start on lite duties. We pay for this through our taxes here. Also if its ACC covered, the ambulance is free.
    Side note...
Please support ambulance services in your area, with a yearly donation, it also means, your house members won't pay any callout fee, if you need them (non ACC), and its cheap.

You can also go to a chemist. If they think its serious and beyond their expertise they will direct you.

My sympathy living. In Rotorua. I’m a retired GP and find the quality and knowledge not on par with RSA trained pre 1990’s. We do have a massive shortage since the 1990’s. Hospitals are pretty poor except in the larger cities.

Why doesnt NZ train enough doctors ? Marlborough has 50000 people and 4000 cant register with a doctor . Probaby 4000 guest workers in vineyards not sure if they can register with a doctor

Yeah but the difference in South Africa is u are paying that medical aid to have those privileges.. if you were going through the government system in SA you would be screwed..
If you go to the emergency department here you will not pay, even as a adult..
kids are free up until age 14 at the dentist an GPs..
