@@rickdaystar477 well, he’s def the tallest standing! Bye we have Jack Jones and Englebert Humperdinck still performing bad well. All three do a hellofa job
On the day I arrived in Bahrain as a mobilized Marine for OIF, there was a USO show with Wayne Newton headlining. He was a great entertainer and patriotic for being there. However, most of the troops were more interested in the Dallas Cowgirl cheerleaders who were a part of the troupe. 😉
Thank you SO much for uploading this! Wayne Newton singing "April Showers" is one of my favorite performances he gave on the Sullivan show! He really scored a home run with this performance, and I love his rendition. I first saw it in a "Best of Sullivan" show in the '90's and was hoping it would be posted someday.
"My Name is Wayne Newton" as Elvis often said after the Opening Songs in Vegas 1975😂...Wayne Newton is still alive and an Icon on those good old Vegas Days👌
His appearance and voice correspond to those of a teenager, even when he was almost 24... This Las Vegas legend is still alive, although now his face no longer reflects the puberty of that time but the traces of surgeries...
There’s been rumours his voice has not changed in puberty and he had hormonal treatment to fix it. Honestly as a student of voice pedagogy I do not see how that would NOT be the case. The voice he had till his late 20s was that of a young mezzo-soprano. It would not have changed to a voice of a tenor just like that.
WN actually had a three octave range, and was mistaken for Margret Whitting! But nope, they lowered the keys in the 70’s and broke open Mr. Excitement’s power!
The Ed Sullivan Show was a big deal with my parents when I was a kid. I distinctly remember this performance because without looking I thought it was a woman singing the song. At 14 I couldn't figure out what I was watching. Nothing being taken from his talent though.
It's a good thing he was a fresh talent in the good old days of the 1960s. If he had been born 60 years later, he would have identified as trans in 2023. It's the big FAD nowadays! 🤪
Wayne had a great and so distinctive voice when he was young.
The Best Rendition Of April Showers Performed by The Great Wayne Newton Seen Him In Las Vegas In The 70s He Was Fantastic
a natural entertainer, very comfortable on a stage and with an appealing voice too....
I can now see why he was so successful in Las Vegas…thanks for sharing this clip.
Basically he's the last man standing in Vegas. He's a survivor.

Damn. I'm old :)

It’s amazing how Wayne looked Like a baby back then
Very talented guy, here before his voice changed.

Amazing how his range and register is so high. Wow. If you close your eyes, you think it might be a woman.

Love this version and the musicality in his movements -
Greatness
I love this
I remember seeing Wayne Newton on the Bonanza christmas episode.
Boy I've got to admit that that Donny Osmond kid is a really good singer 🤗
He has no relation to the Osmonds.
@@donaldauguston9740 I think they were only kidding….

Good lord...what a cutie! Just a doll! I think he's like 23 here.
❤❤❤
if trump and kd lang had a child....
I thought Newton was like 12 years old.
I don’t understand his popularity
No need to. Why is Kim Kardashian a “Star” who does nothing. Millions of us are WN fans

What an idiotic thing to post.
The first trans entertainer
Ummmmm no.
He?
Wayne Newton.... yuck 🤢
I'd see him in Las Vegas though in a hot second even though I don't like him when he was younger.😅
