This is more than decent and I’m guaranteeing that if a major studio like Capcom would have gotten a hold of the Jaguar we would have seen amazing things. Ataris problem wasn’t the hardware, it was their tools and their inability to negotiate with major third parties.
Frame rate gets choppy on turns with camera rotation. I think this could have been better with some optimizations. Not a bad game, lot of cars and decent detail. Unfortunality, its nowhere near as good as racing games on Saturn and PS1.
Hard to believe this is the same hardware as chequered flag. Imagine if the Jag hadn't got a pipeline fault , this could have been WAY faster with more detail

@@Kevin_40 actually, it was released in 1997, and for that time, it was really bad. Even 3DO had a lot of smoother racing games. The Jaguar can’t handle 3D at all.
@@fotodump The 3DO couldn't even handle *actual* polygons, what are you on about, besides for example, Wolfenstien on 3DO runs worse despite the bordered window compared to the Jaguar conversion

@@turrican3839you can't be serious about the 3DO . Ever played Need for Speed , or Starfighter , WingCommander on the system ? It was a powerhouse , despite only running at 12.5Mhz.

Great video
This was certainly better than Checkered Flags on Jaguar with its choppy frame rate...
Doom billboard at 5:51-5:52
This looks a little different than the version that we got. It looks like it runs a little smoother.
8 on the number pad is supposed to change the texture mode. Could that be it?

Atari messed up big when they included the 68000 chip and allowed lazy developers to do lazy games on this system

Wait so the finished version had an official license?
Actually the opposite, this is the unfinished version. The one released did not have real team names or real driver names. :)
@@Kevin_40
The release version was actually an earlier unfinished build as far as I know?
@@Kevin_40 Wait is this the final build with better textures and a higher framerate that was not ready in time!
