    Absolutely nothing in my house is square. These windows would be a perfect fit!

      I recommend not purchasing windows from big box stores, especially if you live in high or low temperatures. Anderson is overrated, too.
      A well made frame and R-value glass costs a lot more, but it pays for itself in heating/cooling costs several times over.
      I haven’t done construction in a while so I can’t say I know what brands are most reputable today.

    As a former Home Depot associate in my apron (others will get that reference) I am surprised at this. I always went out of my way for customers and trained people to do the same.

    ALWAYS measure your windows for squareness BEFORE you pay.
    I bought windows in March and waited until the warmth of June to install. One out of six wasn't correct, but it wasn't worth the effort to remove it and drive it back for replacement.

    That sucks. Too many people either don't know enough or don't care to do a good job.

    To all the people saying you need to check them before you leave the store, when you special order them (that means a custom size that is not off the shelf) they come shrink wrapped and encased in foam for protection from the factory and you usually either pick them up from customer service or contractor services or have them delivered to your location. Unwrapping them in the store and transporting them would just be plain stupid as now they wont be protected when transporting them.
    With that being said, since covid QC at of all big box windows has gone out the door Jeld Wynn and therma tru as well sux. I had it happen to me several times and I finally quite buying windows and doors from the big box stores and now order MI windows from my local lumber yard. I have had much better success and if there is an issue my outside sales rep deals with it rather than me spending countless hours dealing with customer service. I will never buy windows and doors at the big boxes again. (And as a bonus, they are usually cheaper)

    It's a different kind of video but also appreciated.
    I sort of laughed at a guy at HD the last time I was there, he was measuring plywood thickness. I feel silly now. 🤣
    I guess I will be bringing my measuring tape with me. 📏

    • @gorak9000
      @gorak9000 18 дней назад +1

      Plywood hasn't come in standard thicknesses in decades - it's always a crap shoot what you'll get. But most people keep buying it, so they keep churning out garbage and making money on it. If you go to some place that isn't a big box store, the quality is always better, and the thickness more consistent, but you'll never find 3/4" plywood that actually measures 3/4" anymore - that's just a marketing slogan these days

    • @JT-lq4yd
      @JT-lq4yd 18 дней назад +1

      @Sylvan_dB I saw a video about measurement testing at NIST. They were checking the marks on tape measures using lasers. The tape measures being tested were Stanley, and they passed.

    HD, at times, will buy seconds / blemishes, and play the odds. I've had problems with a tub, and enclosure. Then, I had 12 new thermal pane windows that I bought from them and had one of their contractors install them. The installation was done May-06, and Nov-06 a few fogged up / sweat within, (a leak between the glass) I went to the HD and gave them the numbers needed to replace them, and 9 days later I received 1 of 3, and told they were being made. Feb-07 still no windows and another 4 went bad. Instead of dealing with HD, I called the manufacturer in Ga and was told they filed Chapter 11 and were out of business. Sept- 07, HD did replace the others. I was told a new company opened, and they thanked me for dealing with them. lol, right. Well, I found the company that filed C-11, opened under a new name, same owners, new name. (there is another long story about the widows and the new company, but I'll save you the time) To make it short, HD is not using those companies anymore, All my windows were repaired locally, and paid for by me.

    Some will think that you are over-reacting, but this is unacceptable. These are produced on frames where it's almost impossible to screw them up, so it shows that some workers simply did not care; they let the window go to shipping likely *knowing* that it wasn't right. I will not buy from this company.

    • @electronicsNmore
      @electronicsNmore  18 дней назад +1

      Exactly, they use a jig to assemble everything. Somebody clearly didn't have both of the vertical sections of the window lined up, one was higher than the other before they fused the top and bottom rail. If I was running that plant, I would give the person one warning, if they did it again they're fired. Not only does it cause a big inconvenience to the person that purchased the window, but it also gives the company a bad name. How is it even possible that these windows aren't measured before they leave the plant?

  • @meawayfromhome
    @meawayfromhome 16 дней назад

      @antibrevity I hear ya. But, I never blamed UDW's. The solution is simple. STOP hiring UDW's, PERIOD. Then the work will NOT get done. Then the salaries will rise. Then the pasties, (whites), WILL apply for the jobs. Yes, ALL construction costs will rise so high that only the wealthy can afford to purchase /build. THEN, reality sets in. THEN, anarchy. And then guillotines. THEN the RESET. Then ALL debts get wiped. Then we restart,,, ALL OVER AGAIN. Wash, rinse, repeat!
