Really sucks that the SNES battle maps were scrapped for Super Circuit. Would've loved to hear SMK's battle theme in the game's soundfont.

It's interesting that they made such a good song to only use it as a placeholder for DS test tracks. It would have been a great addition for the final game. Also, was that an official remix of it for the 8 Deluxe test track? Because if so, that is even weirder that they remixed it only to use it for a beta map yet again.

13th's also an early version of Block City from Double Dash
And the last 4 are the SNES Battle Courses 1-4
I think #1 is meant for testing the "units" system the game uses to calculate the distance between each racer, and thus the item distributions.
14 is the ceremony track, not a beta version of Peach Circuit.
5th is a track named dokan_course and it was renamed in mktour as Piranha Plant Pipeline (its code name is im quite sure mob_dk)
Half of them aren’t even „hidden tracks“ they’re just tracks which exist as a full version but the old data wasn’t deleted yet

Fun fact: The layout for dokan course in DS (the pipe one) would later go on to be mirrored and flattened for use in 3DS Toad Circuit

It probably is a revival of the pipe course concept scrapped for DS, though - Nintendo often holds on to ideas for years before they see the light of day

Great Video, the Beta tracks that they were going to release before the final version are quite impressive, especially the Mario Kart DS game, you could tell that it had a lot of track potential. 😱

Tour had alot of unused tracks but sadly we can't play them, most of them are more retro tracks.

The only weird thing is that MKDS was originally was going to double dash route with graphics and details and some of the early music but had to remake the game much with less detail it and even the track like tic-tock-Clock kiosk demo version has a lot of different elements put in the were removed to save space and ram to save money since they were limited to ram space but also have a deadline to get it done so they have a good one year since the started to develop MKDS in 2004 and was finished in 2005 but the demo for the US and EU this explains why they use MKDD item SFX for reference and much samples like the trumpets.

I have no idea of what this unused track is but it's just an untextured and unfinished version of Wii Bowser's Castle
Have no idea of this unused track's name as well but it's just a GCN Mario Circuit beta track, with the model coming straight from MKDD itself
Once again I have no idea of the name but it's an untextured version of Wii Mario Circuit with Dry Dry Ruins music, probably to test music transitions in tracks, as for a split second, in the tunnel section, you can hear the inside ruins music from Dry Dry Ruins
MKDS:
Dokan Course, this was used to test driving physics.
old_mario_GC, which would later be replaced by GCN Luigi Circuit. Used to test falling off in tracks with water or lava etc
Nokonoko Beach, used to test a Koopa Beach themed track. Later replaced by Cheep Cheep Beach. If you touch the deep water in this track, your game will crash.
Test Circle, used to test debugging.
Luigi_course, not used to test anything, it's just an early version of Waluigi Pinball
Donkey_course, another early version of Waluigi Pinball
Donkey_course, an early version of DK Pass. Also shares the same name as the first Donkey_course mentioned above
I don't know the name of this one but it seems to be an untextured test track, probably to test physics like loops or ramps
mini_block_course, an early version of GCN Block City. Used to test Balloon Battle and Shine Runners.
MKSC:
Award Ceremony, used for award ceremonies after a Grand Prix.
SNES Battle Course 1, unused MKSC battle course that could've been unlocked. Has 8 spawn points but since MKSC's battle mode is only 4 players, the other 4 go unused
SNES Battle Course 2, same reason as SNES Battle Course 1
SNES Battle Course 3, same reason as SNES Battle Course 1
SNES Battle Course 4, same reason as SNES Battle Course 1
The Name of the Unfinished Bowser's Castle is called " Wii Course.0 "
The first _DS_ test track would've made for a great layout for Figure-8 Circuit if it came back for the BCP. Imagine all those tunnels having anti-gravity!
Also ngl both beta Waluigi Pinball versions are much more interesting than the one we got.

I saw someone drive upside down in that tunnel, forgot who it was.
The textures in draw demo look funky because the textures there were set up to old pointers. When they moved the position of the pointers in memory, they forgot about the beta track, thus causing the pointers to point to game code and then try to show that as graphics, resulting in a blue and white mess that's a nightmare for RUclips bitrate lol

Interesting to see that GCN Mario Circuit and GBA Shy Guy Beach were both planned for MKDS before appearing in MKWii. I also wish they would've kept some of the pinball elements on the track in Waluigi Pinball, since that's one thing I don't like about the final version.

That "shy guy beach" looks more like a beta DS Cheep Cheep Beach but with some inspiration from shy guy beach

A good number of these feel like they were either beta versions of a track or from another game
The first one is probably to test out the item system since in MK8 is based on distance from 1st place
Reversed GCN Mario Circuit might've been planned for the scrapped mission mode.
It might be but is a replica of the DD version with a lot of missing elements and hazards and having u race in the wrong direction and the three blue shell lamps at the beginning were removed from the final model. And the small bump was bigger as well in the final model.

All of these tracks look like beta tracks for testing out mechanics and some look hard to look at with checkers just two tracks like that, but other then that all tracks looks like an unfinished version of some tracks we got already. Waluigi Pinball, or N64 Royal Raceway, even maybe a rainbow road in there somewhere… maybe chocolate mountain.
The first MK8DX track is basically Martinsville Speedway scaled down to kart size

Here are my thoughts on these forgotten raceways and why they were scrapped:
*8 Deluxe:*
0:08 Makes sense. Doesn’t have many finished textures and the map has the finish line on the exact opposite side of the track
*Wii:*
0:44 The skybox was the only finished texture (aside from the Thwomps). Shame, since this track actually looks really fun!
1:52 Genuinely should’ve been added. Literally all they needed to add was the map and it would be done!
