Hey Guys! I love that you decided to go through QOTMS in order from Lunario. This live performance is already legendary in The Warning Lore.
Fun Fact: Dany had been writing this song before they even decided to do a concept album. But, when they decided to do a concept album the song fit perfectly. Their producer at the time helped her finish it for the album. Her performance as "The Queen" is just mesmerizing here, especially when you remember that this was their first time playing the album live and Dany was only 18, and Pau and Ale were only 16 and 13. SMH, so amazing to me still!

the thing that amaze's me is that Mexico City isat 7,250 feet in altitude! That Dany and later, Pau have the ability to even sing, and this was a long concert, astounds me! Way to go girls!!!!!

      @mjc1389 Год назад +3

Yes, by all accounts it really took a toll on Ale. It’s very clear by the end of the show that the elevation was affecting her the most.
I know they have played Mexico City a few times since and it appears that they have figured out how to aclimate themselves better and they are all a bit older and stronger now.
I was in Denver for their recent show at the Marquis and that’s 5,000+ feet. I walked from Union Central to my hotel and from the hotel back and forth to the venue.
Each trip was about a mile and I normally wouldn’t even break a sweat at that distance but I definitely noticed a difference at that elevation compared to my home which is around 1611 ft in elevation. Monterrey is at 1772 ft so it was an even bigger difference for the band.
I know they played twice before in Mexico City prior to Lunario but I believe the shows were much shorter.

The coolest part I find is the way Pau's backing harmonies are inverted in pitch to Dany's lead during the chorus - as Dany starts high and descends in pitch, Pau starts low and raises pitch. Really interesting.

Amazingly, this was the first time the entire album was played live. Great take guys. The entire album is an emotional roller coaster and really brilliant story telling. Fun fact: when Pau pitched the original concept to her sisters they reacted by asking, “why is there so much blood?” The result of their collaboration is a hauntingly beautiful, deeply emotional story about a seriously confused and conflicted character and the empathy they display in both writing these songs and performing them is amazing. This album draws you in, tears at your heart, ties you up and cuts deep into you…and that’s just the beginning of the story…

*1)* The marks on Dany's hand & neck represents cut marks the Queen did to herself. According to Dany. The marks wasn't plan. Dany added the marks before going on.
*2)* The Warning uses a backing track for background noises & like an forth musician. Backing track never replaces the main instruments or vocals.
*3)* On the previous song *Dust to Dust.* The preacher vocals are on the backing track. Rudy Joffery (the bands real manager who portrayed The Preacher. That was his vocals on the studio album. He lip sync his vocals at Lunario. But he did The Preacher sermon live twice. Both times at The Whiskey A Go Go.

This is an incredible journey that Ale, Pau and Dany created for us all. Many of these songs on this album really hit hard because of how realistic they are; the inner turmoil, the fighting going on inside your own head to stay sane, the cutting and using pain to gain control and the very real sense of losing yourself to the darkness. I've suffered from these things for many years and these young ladies hit so many of the very emotions and issues that I know so very well. And the songs all rock too which is even better.

Thank you, Chris and Sam, for following along on the extraordinary Queen of the Murder Scene album.
Certainly, the Villarreal sisters currently have much more development in their skills and their productions are much better, however, in my opinion, this album continues to shine as a work of great value.
Each of the songs on the album has its own merits, but viewed as a complete work, the album's artistic merits are superior to not a few later works. In a concept album, all the songs should play a coherent role in the story and drive the emotions of the audience step by step, from its beginning, to the final climax.
Another merit that is not usually mentioned is that the story is seen from a perspective of feelings, not facts that we usually associate with feminine sensibility. However, the Villarreal sisters have repeatedly shown (here and later) that they have the ability to involve the entire audience very well in these feelings.
They were very young when they created QOTMS, but precisely because of this, they were at the ideal age to create, in such a sincere and non-artificial way, a musical novel like this one.

I'll try not to give you any spoilers on the upcoming storyline, but I did want to share a fun little fact about the next song Ugh. Ugh does not actually have any relevance to what the song is about, rather it was a song that the girls had a really hard time writing. Their dad kept encouraging them to stick with it, and every time they sat down to work on it together they started with a collective sigh and "ugh". Eventually they got it worked out and it became one of their favorite songs to play live and is still usually in the set list when they are headlining a show. Can't wait to continue this journey with you.
