A Cadillac is a ... "Cadillac" !! The worlds finest cars. Pure luxury and craftsman ship. Plus big Detroit Power under the hood. Good combo , hard to beat. Love it a lot !! Thanks for great video.
Have had a 2003 CTS (first year of CTS), bought new, 14 years ago and I STILL LOVE IT!!! Also have an '81 Eldorado Biarritz that I also LOVE... Caddies are GREAT!!!
Before you say excessive, take a look at the competition. 1959 was a year like no other, it truly was a "war" and many divisions-companies faded. All of GM's cars hat to be completley redesigned, even names changed. Chrysler was winning trough 1958, 1957 with their forward look which made GM's cars look obsolete. Ford wasn't even aware of what the market wanted introducing the Edsel, a bunch of unecessary gimmicks and questionable design. Look at 1958 cars to understand 1959... The GM line up, Chrysler Forward look cars, Ford Edsel and the Packard hawk. It is then possible to understand why the Cadillac 1959 Eldorado's fins, finished the fin war victoriously and ended an era.
@@tipoftheiceberg11 I know! My last Cadillac was a 1999 DeVille Concours! With 300 HP! Bought it new off the showroom floor! I saw the 2000 Cadillac with no fins. Didn’t like it! So I bought the 1999! Loved it! Over 184,500 miles and 11 years later I had to let it go! I’ve had over 20 cars in my life! If I could go back and have one all over again, brand new? It would be that 1999 Cadillac! It was big and fast! 💨
In its day the 76 seville was the best caddy all round it was well made refined looked great and was tastefully appointed plus it handled better than any caddy had done before
The Cadillac SeVille! The ladies loved this Cadillac! This body style was available from 1975 to 1979! It was a totally unique design! Available only as a 4 door sedan. It came in a wide range of beautiful colors! Including a two tone paint scheme. Also as an option you can add real wire rims! The Cadillac Seville were lighter and more fuel efficient. I tried to buy one that was a beautiful two tone green! Everyone called it “Money Green”! The color of prosperity and growth! It sure was a head turner! Traffic Stopper! But they wanted to much for it. However I believe the Cadillac Sevilles from 75-79 are highly desirable and highly collectible as the prices continues to rise! As a kid, the first one I ever saw was triple Black! It just happened to drive by. I fell in love! The second one I ever saw up close was owned by a local disc jockey legend. It was midnight blue with a lighter shade of blue on the interior! The local disc jockey legend was more then happy to show it off as a small crowd gathered around for a closer look! Then like an explosion the Cadillac Sevilles were everywhere! Love that Cadillac Seville! If you find one buy it, restore it then drive it! Ride on!
Wasn't anything wrong with the 1987-1993 Cadillac Allanté, except for the price tag which kept most buyers away. But it was always intended to be a very exclusive, low production car with a price more than double the Coupe de Ville. It had a big V8, for which the buyer was forced to pay a gas guzzler tax on top of the already high MSRP. Even so, they sold 21,430 over the course of 7 years. GM probably didn't make much money on the Allanté though, because the bodies were made in Italy by Pininfarina and then flown to Michigan for final assembly. The Allanté was nothing like the 1982-1988 Cimarron, which was just a gussied up and poorly disguised Chevrolet Cavalier originally with a tiny 1.8 liter 4 cyl engine and 4 speed manual transmission which GM had hoped to sell by the shovelfull. The exclusive, luxurious, powerful Allanté does not deserve to be pronounced in the same breath as the poorly-conceived, anemic, down-market Cimarron.
I totally agree. I have been a satisfied owner of one since 2013. I knew that it had to have the head gaskets replaced with heavy duty, and it has been flawless since this upgrade.
Good catch! I thought the same thing when we first acquired it for distribution. This makes me miss my old Caddy big time. Ever own a Cadillac guys? If so, what did you drive?
The introduction to this story is misleading. It really focuses on its history leading up to the oil embargo then skips over to today. Perhaps we can have a sequel.

My Favorite Cadillac El Dorado Biarritz 1959 wow !
Have had a 2003 CTS (first year of CTS), bought new, 14 years ago and I STILL LOVE IT!!! Also have an '81 Eldorado Biarritz that I also LOVE... Caddies are GREAT!!!
2004 Cadillac XLR with custom sound with insulation, custom wheel/tires, Corvette performance sway bars. Even has a custom license plate.
Great automobiles nicely presented!
The 1960 Cadillac looked more refined, sophisticated and elegant! Not as excessive as the 1959. It also marked the being of the end of the “fins!”

@@peloi111 Thank you for your comment! What Competition? Cadillac is the standard of the world 🌎!
Cadillac had fins on their cars until the late 90s. Not as ostentatious, but still there.

What does Cadillac have that Lexus doesn't? I rented an XT5 on vacation once. It made me miss my RX.
The Northstar is a great engine and not a peep about it.
