I grew up in down town Kent, I was 16 at this time, lots of memories, still drive through down town on my way home from work and past the old house down by the mill!😊
I started school at Kent in 87. Lived in Clark hall. The memories. I still go back in the summer and walk around campus and go to the bookstore and eat at Ray's.
Its so cool seeing what was in certain places before the stuff they have now. The whole Fedex plaza was different and so was the fast food places along main street
as an int'l grad school student i started my life at ksu four years later from this video. i lived in univ. inn seen in the film in my last semester. so nostalgic!
So cool! My mother started working at KSU (Residence Services) in 68.. I spent my summers on campus. started moving away in 80 but keep coming back to the area... I hasn't really changed THAT much, same buildings (around town) just different owners/businesss
Thanks for sharing. I was in Kent during the 70's before video cameras so it was good that you documented Kent when you did because it has changed a lot.
Very entertaining. Remember Flynn's Marathon, Ruggles Shell, Arthur Treacher's, Burger Chef, Kent Hardware, Kent Theater, Union 76, gasoline price at $0.899 per gallon for 87 Octane, Around the Clock restaurant, and scenery at Kent State Uni that has changed since 1987.
Growing up in Kent , they should have NEVER removed the iconic Kent State University arch. Also I remember in the late 50's or early 60's the panty raids, harmless fun.
@@TomBlom0 where were the newspaper sculpture and the old library fountain at? There is a fountain outside the library now but i assume it was different. Also where was the old arch at as i assume it used to be somewhere other than close to that one new building
Wow. Downtown Kent before they jacked it up.
Thanks for sharing, good memories 😊
Oh man I love this! This is so nostalgic, I miss this era of Kent, just the best. Sure wish it was still like this.
It’s fun to watch these. Thanks for posting. Sure doesn’t look like this now.
I was nine years and in second grade at Franklin Elementary School at the time. Thank you.

Clark hall 1987. What a time to be at Kent State.
Cool footage! Must have been a summer Sunday because I did not see any of the classic Campus Bus Service buses on the roads.
Thank you so much for this!
R.I.P. the Robin Hood.

I saw the Ramones play on campus in an auditorium or theater. I came down from Cleveland for the show. Early 1987

Crossing Campus in winter felt like crossing Siberia.
The 3rd song is "Transit" by Ira Stein & Russel Wilder. Unsure what the first and 2nd song is

The arch was moved and is on campus.
They destroyed that sculpture/experiment made of newspapers AND the iconic fountain outside of the library.
