Jack Pearson is one of those rare beautiful souls that can push and pour it out and all over those strings.I believe he is Divinely inspired to deliver the Holy spirit to us through his playing.Thank you sir for your dedicated craft and gifts.
Jack prolly prefers it the way it is w/0 all the extra baloney of fame over and above others he is a man of the people working class super cool blues master It actually more n ikely sucks to be famous Nobody ever just crawls out your ass with tryin to say somthing cool There just ain't enough hours in the day to answer everyone questions but he has a few instructional videos on the RUclips
I saw Jack at the Dallas International Guitar Festival in April '11. He was there all weekend. Once when they had several "name brand" guitarists on the stage at the same time (All Star Jam), everyone was trying to out-do the last guy when it was their turn to play. When Jack took his turn he played about 12 or 14 notes and everyone on the stage just smiled and shook their heads as if to say "that was awesome" Greg Martin - the Kentucky Head Hunters just stopped playing and clapped his hands.
Since I heard him with the Allmans in 97 I've loved Jack totally. Here's one more reason. He is one of the underdiscovered treasures of the music world. An amazing combination of bluesy soul and jazzy sophistication with some of the best tone anywhere. As noted before, he could play through a toaster and sound fabulous.
Jack is testifying with his distinctive blues phrasing. In his tasty ol riffs. Both. Sharp as a samurai sword and yet those riffs sound like they were dipped in a golden honey glaze Boyh sweet and savory Giving testament to. The. Promised land's existence. Both. Killer and super. Identifiable. Style yet so super chill and laid back. When yhey explode the roof and doors off. Jamming that mother to the ground Undeniable excellence in the field
National treasure ! Right smack dab in the heart of Murfreesboro TN . Such excellence is unparalleled not only does jack have the best tone with the double hotrail pick ups, can exhibit world class blues that is on the top shelf. But nobody else can savor the refrain , taste what the music asks . Totally virtuoso type musical talent but clearly schooled in classical /jazz theorem , he could blaze the frets from end to end with unrelenting fury , yet he has invested his most serious practice into smoothness of execution and of transitioning efficiently and obviously this kind of practice has paid off magnifold ,in not only technical prowess but the combination of serious discipline and being relaxed and at peace has in my humble opinion granted vision /perspective (musically speaking) that I otherwise would not expect from sheer discipline alone
Just that first minute alone is ridiculous. A perfect blend of classic, sweet sounding blues mixed with enough jazzy / technical licks to let you know this guy is the real deal. Interesting phrasing as well. A true guitar players guitar player.
When i lived in Nashville we saw jack every time he played at 3rd and Lindsley. Phenomenal player. Also, as far as the VVT amp goes, i agree. it sounds amazing. Although half of that tone is in his dna. All fingers baby.
I am deeply concerned over the mental health of the people representing the five down votes here. Good grief people! Jack Pearson is just a beautiful, beautiful musician. Absolutely stunning.
It's hard to be inspired and be taken back to when I was a kid and purely loved guitar. The last time I was truly taken over by pure guitar was SRV.His music does the same thing for me.I love his playing.
I live in Murfreesboro, TN and have seen Jack play for about 25 years now and I can tell you that he's a never ending bag of licks. The guy is truly gifted. I'm sure he put in the time, but he's just super talented and inspired. Yes he has good gear, but he could play any old axe and make it ooze just like he does here!
@RichardScotti Glad you could make it, Richard. Now you know that it is not the gear, or the amp, or the guitar. It's the person using those tools. You saw him play a $91 guitar through a Blues Junior amp with only a tuner, a tube screamer for slide compression and a flanger (which he never used on the show). You are now a member of the club, congratulations.
@RichardScotti Quick, call your travel agent. Jack will be playing Nashville, TN. on January 28th at Third and Lindsley Bar and Grill. Show time is 9:30PM and cover is $10. This will be a jazz performance with Hammond and drums. Jack will play originals and standards from the American Jazz Songbook. You ain't seen or heard it swing like this before, unless you're older than 75 and lived in New York in the 50s and 60s.
All the love in the world. Saw you on the Gregg allman special here this week. You are .the most fortunate man alive. I ve been trying to get to an Allman Brothers concert since the early 70s. Even when I was in the service Enjoy Mboro, I always did.
@jf99151 Well, the VVT amp sounds great. But he's got an old Yamaha 50 watt amp that sounds great. Last night he played through a stock DeLuxe and later a Twin and they sounded great. He could plug into a toaster oven and it would sound great. Sometimes the gear doesn't matter, it's the player.
love jacks playing thats a g and l tribute asat hes playing there,he also plays asquier bullet live a lot this guy makes any guitar sound good from a 100 dollar bullet to a 1000 dollar g and l special
@jacksfan08 Looking around youtube, Jack isn't the only one using old Silvertone guitars. I saw Derek Trucks playing slide on one. I had forgotten they were really nice guitars, they just weren't taken seriously at the time since they were Sears guitars. They have some great tone after almost 50 years!
@rockinredneck57 Jack does have a Sivertone that he uses for some slide work, and yeah, it sounds at least like a million bucks, maybe two. Quote from Jack about his Silvertone "They don't make masonite like this anymore!"
Just discovered Jack a week ago and each new tune I hear is like finding new treasure. How could this gift stay hidden? Geez Mr. Pearson sir. Put some dates on the calendar and I'll call my travel agent. Can't wait to see/hear a live show.
@goldensleeves G&L website says Legacy Special. It's sweet, that much is clear! Of course, in Jack's hands, a Sears Silvertone would sound like a million bucks!
No dude - he just practiced an insane amount and made the best of his natural abilities and propensities. Give credit where it's due, why don't you ...
The song is "Weep And Moan" written by Jack Pearson and William Howse. You can find it on Jimmy Hall's :Rendezvous With The Blues" album Originally released on Capricorn Records in 1996.
@toddallenhooper Todd, I have promised to stop watching Jack when he runs out of licks and starts repeating himself in predictable ways common to other players. 30 plus years later, I'm still watching and I estimate that I have a minimum of 30 plus more years to go.
Back then he mostly used a Yamaha 50 watt solid state head into a separate cabinet with a 12" driver. He was often asked what kind of tubes was he using.
I want to say around 2013. He started working with Jim Hill at VVT after meeting him at an amp show. Jack had and used several of VVT's earlier models, but kept working with Jim to get the mid range tone stack right. They did that a couple of years ago and now offer the Jack Pearson model for sale. I know of 5 or 6 guitarists here in Nashville that now have one in their arsenal.
+Trevor Rohwer Trev I agree your point. EC well marketed but highly over-rated. He could not even think about playing this sort of stuff - just don't have the feelin or skill.
+Barry Jansen The sad thing is he did - listen to his playing on the John Mayall "Beano" album. E.C. was never a great singer, but then, neither is Jack or Eric Johnson and Roy Buchannan was just terrible.
This man is not a guitarist he's a musician! Can you people hear his singing?!? He's got it man!!
Jack Pearson is one of those rare beautiful souls that can push and pour it out and all over those strings.I believe he is Divinely inspired to deliver the Holy spirit to us through his playing.Thank you sir for your dedicated craft and gifts.
❤AMEN
The greatest guitar player that hardly nobody knows. That's a crime. Love ya Jack!
Psshhttt. Anybody that listens to the Allman Brothers Band knows who he is and they have ALOT of fans still.
Jack prolly prefers it the way it is w/0 all the extra baloney of fame over and above others he is a man of the people working class super cool blues master

Diamond in the rough
That's because he doesn't have long blond hair and play heavy metal.
sings pretty good too!
Jack, IMO, is the most well rounded guitarist out there. He puts such a nice touch on everything he plays.
I saw Jack at the Dallas International Guitar Festival in April '11. He was there all weekend. Jack can play any style. He is one great musician!!!

A toaster with a short! Good line!
Amen, to those words brother.

Jack takes back seat to no one! Here's a good example of when you think you've heard the best and Bam! A true master of his craft
Soul!. Not a wasted note. Simply the best.
There's lots of great guitar players. Jack Pearson is a great musician with great guitar chops..
Jack is testifying with his distinctive blues phrasing. In his tasty ol riffs.

That was nicely put

Soothed my soul - appreciated.........!

Jack Pearson is just a beautiful, beautiful musician. Absolutely stunning.
Some people's taste is all in their mouths. 6 people here can't do anywhere near what Jack does.
I've heard there are people out there who actually like Justin Bieber or Kanye. I don't get it, but whatcha gonna do?
Every guitar player in Nashville loves this guy and Nashville is pretty much guitar central of the universe....Play on Jack
They're just upset he's not playing his $78 squier... yet.... Nicest guy you'll meet!
If you worry about those people you may have mental health issues.
How did I miss out on this guy until today? Awesome talent!!!
It's hard to be inspired and be taken back to when I was a kid and purely loved guitar. The last time I was truly taken over by pure guitar was SRV.His music does the same thing for me.I love his playing.

Guessing you were @ the Filling Station too! Homeboy! Ain't he something & was at age 15&16.
The Nationals! Yep, Saw him at The Caverns awesome!
That was some of the best blues playing!! thanks for uploading this great guitarist.
Best touch on the strings and heart felt playing I think I have ever scene.
What a gift to be able to say I had the distinct pleasure of recording a CD with this monster of guitarists. Gawd!
I can't believe I haven't heard this guys sooner..I bow down.
A Jack of all trades and a master of all.
❤AMEN!!
Jack, you have so much Soul in your playing, I can't get Enough of it, Cousin Figel
jack is great
saw him yrs ago with abb
he is so uniquely soulful, jazzy, and bluesy
thanks for this!
The most versatile player maybe in the history of music . Jack feels the blues like Elmore James , his touch is as sweet as Duane Allman.
Amazing!🎸
Wow, such a guitar great!!!! The rest of the band is cooking mighty fine too!!!!!!!
He is going to be back there on the 27th of October. I just moved to Nashville and cant wait to see him play. I have been wanting to for years.
wow..sublime..what a master...

Incredible tasty phrasing. . .

I just heard of this guy. And..its..I'm happy.
Your remind me of Duane in this take of your soulfulness. Thanks
@rockinredneck57 Jack does have a Sivertone that he uses for some slide work, and yeah, it sounds at least like a million bucks, maybe two. Quote from Jack about his Silvertone "They don't make masonite like this anymore!"
Yes, I'm a believer that no man is created equal!
The best!
@jacksfan08 Tone is 95 % in the fingers! You are exactly right!
I am now influenced.
Just discovered Jack a week ago and each new tune I hear is like finding new treasure. How could this gift stay hidden? Geez Mr. Pearson sir. Put some dates on the calendar and I'll call my travel agent. Can't wait to see/hear a live show.
Jack "can't hit a bad note" Mfn Pearson People!
A good name for him!
A National tresure"
The way it is....
might be the best...........
Oh so very good!
@goldensleeves G&L website says Legacy Special. It's sweet, that much is clear! Of course, in Jack's hands, a Sears Silvertone would sound like a million bucks!
BadAss!!
reminds me of Mark May!!!
Jack has been touched by the hand of God.
No dude - he just practiced an insane amount and made the best of his natural abilities and propensities. Give credit where it's due, why don't you ...
God ain’t got nothing to do with it...
Mike Bloomfield would have loved this. I do
4:20 aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh too much, too much for me I can't handle that
Tell em Jimi sent ya......
quite nice. anyone know if he has been compared to BB King with those single-string runs?
Wow that guitar must be made out of pure wood
he made a face to get to the note (carlos santana)
now I know why they talk about you. this clip tells the story. yeah
Incredible. Unbelievable. Great soul. What model G&L is he playing there?
Just exactly who in the hell gives this a thumbs down?
Probably somebody who's disappointed that he wasn't doing a song by Beyonce.
Jesus 😅
I'd love to know what kind of rig he's using. He's got a great touch!
Did this man ever jam with the late Danny Gatton?
Silvertones ? Don't forget that 3,000 dollar hand built tube amp he's playing it through.
Does anyone know the name of this tune and if it's a Jack Pearson song? If not, anyone know who it's by? Thanks in advance for the help!
The song is "Weep And Moan" written by Jack Pearson and William Howse. You can find it on Jimmy Hall's :Rendezvous With The Blues" album Originally released on Capricorn Records in 1996.

Cant you hear me weep and moan
Anyone know what scale he's playing at about the 4:20 mark?
Jacob Aubin Sounds like a fast Bmelodic mminor over the Bflat 1 chord
Roy Kressin Wouldn't that be a Bbalt?
theMstanglover yes, the 7th mode of Bmm is Bbalt. (actually A#alt).
+Jacob Aubin An awesome-sharp augmented. ;-)
What song is this??
+mikey lasusa The song is "Weep And Moan" by Jack Pearson and William Howse. Also recorded by Jimmy Hall on his "Rendezvous With The Blues" album.
Anyone know what amp he was playing back then?
Back then he mostly used a Yamaha 50 watt solid state head into a separate cabinet with a 12" driver. He was often asked what kind of tubes was he using.

it's funny.. eric Clapton gets praise as being the best.
then where does johnny land?? is pearson alien? he don't count I guess.
+Trevor Rohwer Trev I agree your point. EC well marketed but highly over-rated. He could not even think about playing this sort of stuff - just don't have the feelin or skill.
+Barry Jansen Claptons expression is unique. Jack is cool they shouldn't even be compared. Green is Green and Blue is blue fellas
Jimi Rocks Well if you say , but boring as hell
+Barry Jansen right
+Barry Jansen
The sad thing is he did - listen to his playing on the John Mayall "Beano" album. E.C. was never a great singer, but then, neither is Jack or Eric Johnson and Roy Buchannan was just terrible.
are you guys thick? it's an asat deluxe. legacy's are strat shaped. it's not that hard.
