- As part of the process to obtain your Canadian Fireworks Operators Certification we would normally have you help setup a small show and then fire it. But with the courses moved online (no explanation needed) we had to come up with a way of showing you the practical portion, so we filmed it 😃
I've been a certified display supervisor for 20 years now. SO SO glad to see you pushing the e-match safety protocols, regarding NOT removing the shroud, and also, not matching the shells before loading them into the mortar. I only do 1-3 shows a year, but constantly run into tech's that think and were trained that it is acceptable practice to do that !!! I would think the Niagra Falls incident would have been enough to end that practice!
Yes you would think so. And also to continually strive not to put any body parts over any mortar or firework!
So far I've done fire safety, I have my firearms license, which allows me to buy large amounts of gunpowder and black powder, and my chemical license, which allows buying and transporting large amounts of dangerous chemicals and fertilizer to use commercially on farms
All of those safety courses were on how to not make explosions, so of course I have to add a piro display license to my belt 👌
I’m just a backyard guy, but for some reason I find this all so damn interesting. Think I picked the wrong career. Thank you for posting. I want to find a course to join.
Online courses begin this month! www.fireworksfx.com/professional-training/
Listen folks....I wish someone would have told me about wetting the cakes down years ago. As I’ve had a truck burn to ground because of that very thing!! Take this VERY serious!!! The spent cake was NOT hot and had no signs of smoldering. About 1 hour after it fired it still caught on fire, lit the rest of the debris we tossed into a truck, and literally burnt the truck to ground. As we had all gone inside for the night. By the time the neighbors told us the truck was on fire, it was far tooo late to save.
PS, that was just a consumer grade cake too. Professional cakes have even more juice and more likely to lite the paper/cardboard on fire. Please take this safety seriously.
glad we were able to share some safety info 😀
YUP, I am with you, I wish when I took the course ( not through this place) someone had laid that little piece of wisdom on me.
Hey man i just joined rkm as an assistant setup person anything i should be aware of? or any tips you can give me?
Good for you! (who is RKM?). Without knowing the situation I wouldn't know what to say. One thing though, get yourself a headlamp, crucial bit of kit.
@@FireworksFX Rkm is a pyro company based in MI but they do town shows all over il,wi,mi....
Im very shocked with you being in the industry and not knowing who rkm pyro technics is...
@@bon3s994 this is a Canadian channel and RKM is a relatively small regional company, you shouldn't be surprised he's never heard of them.
This just reminds me that we all got into fireworks for different reasons. Im all for darwin awards for idiots that dont have common sense. There is literally no other excuse.
