I’ve been healing my relationship with food, and the pendulum has swung back and forth with rules and binge eating. These are some healthy foods I love that aren’t trying to substitute another in a restrictive way. What are your favorite health foods and healthy snacks? Comment below and let me know!
I appreciate the balance you brought to this video!! It can be hard to navigate foods when everything has a good/bad healthy/junk label. Remembering that food can just be food, on any side of anyone's arbitrary lines, can be such a powerful freedom. Enjoy the foods!
OH MY GOSH!! When you said grape nuts, my mouth started salivating!! I totally had forgotten about these! I enjoyed them as a kid too 🤣 HOW FUNNY! Definitely picking some up soon!
I'd love to try those coconut rolls 😭 Especially if they come in different flavors. I can't get Sprouts products, sadly. I do not compromise on butter! It's gotta be the real deal. Margarine can take a hike.
I loved this!! Previously I’ve been really strict with food and only having the most nutritionally maxes out things but I’ve been working on finding where I enjoy the “real” version and where I genuinely enjoy the “healthier” version. I love any kind of bean pasta, Halo Top, rice cakes (with hummus or peanut butter), veggie burgers, those two ingredient pancakes (call me crazy lol) and whole grain breads and tortillas. I’m usually not willing to compromise on baked goods, for me I enjoy my family’s baking as is and I spent too long avoiding it because it had white flour and real butter in it; I’m not willing to do that anymore. Also chocolate, I tried to convince myself I really liked dark chocolate, but I actually don’t like it that much unless it’s got caramel or peanut butter and I’d much rather white chocolate. I like that you’re sharing about your relationship with food and that not every choice has to be the “most nutritious” but also there’s nothing wrong with liking the healthy food. Lately it seems you have to pick between being super perfectly healthy or not enjoying any of the healthier snacks because you’re buying into diet culture. You always hit a great middle ground
thank you so much. I totally agree, I don't like dark chocolate-white is where it's at!! Thank you for your support. I really appreciate it and I want to talk about my relationship with food more!
She actually made a huge video all about it! I would link it but sadly that activates the youtube spam filter. Just search for mind over munch Sugar & Sweeteners 101 to find it
What I do with sweetened nuts is to mix them in a jar of plain roasted nuts 50/50, so I still get my hint of sweet but I feel better about not so much sweetener! I do it for salted ones too, actually!
I love Red Lentil pasta, plus I don’t have to worry about looking for a meat replacement, unless I want one, when I use them. I can just add something with mild protein in them, like some peas or Broccoli
I love this channel and the positive energy you give to help with healthy choices. Actually today I’m making zucchini lasagna from your video you posted some time ago. Thank you !!!
I love this channel. My favorite though, r the Bento Box prep meals&Slow Cooker meals. Along with any of the prep meals. Get so many great ideas from channel and hoping more meal prep cooking ideas will come through this fall n winter can’t wait 😊
Dude, my mom used to coat bananas in grape nuts and give me a side of yogurt for breakfast as a kid... It was my favorite breakfast. But as you said, with soymilk...cold... yes.
I eat most of these products and love them! Some I've never seen or heard of, so thanks for sharing! I compromise on just about everything because I don't eat grains.
Most of these I love....that caramel rice cakes....so yummy and grape nuts in vanilla ice cream....my fav. I have them when I want something sweet, they satisfy my craving.
Grape Nuts...yesss! 👍 Rice Cakes... yesss! 🙌 Found a pretty clean rice cake at Dollar Tree (believe it or not) called Munch Rite Brown Rice Cakes a 7 Super Seeds. Love them and so does my 2 yr old...🤔 Love your channel by the way! Really great content!💕
Love your channel and I also enjoy your Twitter lol I am with you the coconut rolls from sprouts is not a option for me lol I also love the saltiness of skinny pop The Ice drinks in the can with caffeine is so not go for ppl. But it works for me!! Lol thanks so much for always sharing and keeping it real. My food anxiety is slowly getting better
It’s so funny your story about the grape nuts. I loved them too as a kid and my mom only bought them for herself because they were kind of expensive for a small box. But I loved them so much, I would sneak a little bowl 😅☺️
I really like the Birch-Benders Paleo pancake mix, just the plain one but I haven't tried the pumpkin one. Then again I love plain buckwheat pancakes (made with only buckwheat flour which apparently according to other people is awful lol). I will have to try the pumpkin ones though. I also loved Grape Nuts cereal as a child! I also like rice cakes but I prefer the thin ones and I like the ones that are rice and lentil, I'll now use those to have my tuna "sandwich" with. I love mayo but I found out that the soy in most mayo's is no good for me so now I use other "healthier" options (healthier for me, since like you said it's all subjective and arbitrary). Thank you for another awesome video! You're always such an inspiration.
Great video! I love alternatives like these. WHY DO RICE CAKES TASTE SO GOOD?! Tis a mystery. I feel like these kind of products are so enjoyable because they are a change from the same old chips, etc. I really enjoy trying new foods (or new flavours of the same old food) and I feel like the "health" snack section of stores are great for finding new alternatives. Everything in this video looked delicious!
Hello,I want to thank you for your videos; I can't thank you enough for offering to give advice on foods.I'm type 2 diabetic and would LOVE recipes advice. THANKS AGAIN
I’ve always loved rice cakes and grape nuts. Just because. And since I was a kid. But I eat grape nuts as a topping (like granola) on stuff like yogurt or puddings etc not as a cereal. 🤗
Since the covid I've gained some weight. Getting back to healthy eating so I can lose these extra lbs. Some good healthy options here. Thanks Alyssia:)
I agree with you on the pasta! Unless I’m making it fresh I’m okay to swap it for red lentil or chickpea. I also really love cauliflower as a rice substitute (except in fried rice)! And I’m addicted to the Aldi’s brand of white cheddar puffs over the Cheetos. 🤷🏽♀️
Loved this video 🤤. Can you please make a video with healthy meal ideas that are quick to make at home during quarantine while working from home? Plis plis plis 🙏🏻
Great video! There are many healthy substitutes that I like as well or better than the original versions. I know not everyone is a fan, but I really like shiritaki noodles and shiritaki rice. For me, it's all about the sauce and what you put on it. The noodle/rice base doesn't matter as much. I also love the Birch Benders brand. I've never tried the Pumpkin Spice Paleo mix, but will have to look for it, since it's almost that time of year now! I've tried the Protein and Plant-Based Protein mix, and both were good. FlapJacked also makes tasty protein pancake mix.
I've had garbanzo pasta that turned to mush on me I really don't think I cooked it too long I'd rather use "Pasta Joy" rice pasta They call it pasta JOY❣for a reason
Grapenuts, yes (!!!), but I have to zap them (w/milk) to soften a bit first. Sort of like a textured oatmeal. Haven’t used margarine in decades. I remember my mom’s story about how (during WWII) margarine was weirdly white & came w/a packet of yellow dye that she, being the eldest kid, was in charge of blending together. What will I not swap out? Ice cream! Ice milk is (to me) disgusting. I do enjoy (some) frozen yogurt, and I’ve had a soy milk ice cream sandwich that was good...but if I’m hankering for actual ice cream, I go with the good stuff. To me, that’s Ben & Jerry’s - yum!

Oatmeal is pretty healthy, especially heart health, though..... so it's odd that you don't consider it. I guess it depends on how you cook it and how you eat it though.
@Jennifer Lopez I nurish myself. I dont need to eat oatmeal to be healthy. That's the issue. If you consider it healthy FOR YOU then you eat it. Tried coconut rolls...Why, I couldn't put these down.
BTW Aldi has them they are great
Biena roasted chickpeas! They come in six flavors and I can find them at my local Sprouts. Really clean ingredient list. Great crunchy snack.
Do you know a good gluten free saltine? I've tried so many and cardboard was better

Thumbs up for the butter 👍
Cannot stand margarine;
it's just cheaper and lesser quality oils.
Plain cheerios have been my favorite cereal since I was a baby.
