Thanks for such an informative video! I would like to start a label so I can have one consistent space to place my music while ensuring I keep control of it over the long-term. The genre isn't mainstream, mainly downtempo/trip-hop/acid jazz. In fact, right now there's barely anyone in the genre in my country (Malta). So while I'd love to sign others, I can't see myself signing anyone to my label. Do you think this is good enough reason to not start my own label? My priority is not to turn a certain profit or work on the label full time. Appreciate any suggestions!
The short answer is no. The streaming platforms have to use a online distributor because there are so many artists and labels and dealing with them all separately is to much work. But online distribution can be cheap and they don’t own your music so you keep all copyrights yourself.
Sorry, but barbershops are not our field of expertise 😅 but you're still welcome to apply the principles of a record label's business plan and adapt them to a barbershop business!

can we direct distribute our songs in all streaming platforms without any using online distributor?
