The Isle of Man lifeboat

A film about one of the Isle of Man lifeboat stations produced in the early 1960s as part of the series This Week in Britain. The series ran from 1959 to 1980.
This Week in Britain was a five-minute weekly television series broadcast in the 1960s and 1970s in Canada and New Zealand. Each edition was presented by women, such as Ann Forsyth and Noeline Pritchard and consisted of one topical story covering an aspect of British life. This enterprise was not a purely commercial one. The British Government provided the finance for This Week in Britain, as well as many other programmes, and the series produced by the Central Office of Information or COI.
The Central Office of Information was established on 1st April 1946 as a service department designed to produce publicity material, across different media including film, at the request of government departments
The lifeboat featured in the film is the RNLB R..A.Colby Cubbin No.2 ON 930. She was named by the Duchess of Kent on 25 th July 1956. Bought at a cost of £33,829 from the legacy of Mrs EMM Gordon Cubbin of Douglas, Isle of Man, this 47ft Watson cabin motor lifeboat, weighed in at 22 tons.

This Week in Britain was run for some years on ABC TV in Australia, too. It seemed all modern and exciting, back then, when I was a child. Now it looks rather old-fashioned! :/
