Great news about your new house, sounds idyllic! As for stitching in hand, as long as you wash your hands before stitching, you’ll be fine. If worried still, after finishing just give your piece a rinse in tepid water with some Vanish Oxy and Fairy liquid and all will be fine. I stitch using the sewing method and bunch my fabric diagonally from the left (you do it vertically). As for frogging etc, it’s a personal choice really, you can do either. Sampler pieces usually contain mistakes so yours wouldn’t be out of place. The only thing would be to bear in mind not to use the extra stitches you’ve added, to count from (unless, of course p, you’d need to so that the design fits). Enjoy your furniture buying and I’ll see you at the September Essex Needles retreat x

Your new home sounds lovely. It's good to have a dedicated stitching area. On your sampler new start, I think I'd restitch the error part since you are not that far into it yet, and it may make it harder to do the inner parts further on. The other question about stitching in hand...I fold my extra linen like you do but then a take a strip of regular fabric, fold it in half, slip it over the extra linen and baste it to the folded part so it covers the front and back. I change it out when it gets a little dirty looking. You could use clips to hold it on with, but I find them clunky. I hope this helps. You have beautiful wips. That afghan is big but it is going to be stunning with all those Fall colors. Happy stitching!❤

Congratulations on the house! That's exciting news! For Rejoice Evermore I would probably leave it if it didn't mess up anything else. If you can get the flowers into that border without a problem and get the straight line border in without a problem than count from that. Unless it's going to make you unhappy. If it's going to bother you frog it.

I don't think your border will be noticeable when done. Bear it in mind when lining up your inside motifs . Leave it as is. Old samplers have huge errors in them and nobody worries about that. I wash my hands regularly, everytime i make a cuppa or go to loo before stitching, it does stay pretty clean. Thanks for the mention was great to meet you too.

What a great video Elaine. So happy for you that you have found your home 😊 Chickens are great, have kept them in the past, hopefully get some in the future, great little characters..😍
Stitching, great progress, you can really see it in your wips and lovely cow pile finish. I have yet to start my piles! Also, weird coincidence, I ordered pumpkin house and harvest house from 123stitch during the week 😂 I was longing for autumn, summer doesn't work for me 😂
On the Rejoice border, I think I would frog it if its gonna interfere with the strawberries, but maybe you can fudge it. I'm doing that one, and my border strawberries have an extra stitch in them all 😆

I am so happy for you and your husband that you’ve found the perfect house for you both. Exciting times ahead. Lovely that you will have some chickens and lots of space. You’ve made some lovely progress on your stitching. Your Pink House is looking so pretty. If you can make the border work on your new start and get all the rest of it to fit OK I would leave it but at the end of the day it’s whether you can live with it or not. I would hate to have to take all that out! Can’t wait to see what you’ve got coming from 123 Stitch. Hi Elaine, just got to your frogging dilemma and wanted to pop on and say I would leave it as it is, as you stitch the rest of the design you will find the error and if at that point you want to frog, then just frog that small area (which hopefully is just a little section). Off to watch the rest of the video 😃 When I stitiched in hand the L&L wedding years (and years...) ago I use to roll up the fabric so was holding the back of the fabric in my left hand and maybe hold a pillowcase or piece of fabric over the piece you are holding to help protect the fabric too.

  • @cococreates26
    @cococreates26 Год назад

If you leave the border error in, add a post-it note or something to your pattern marking EXACTLY where the error is.
This will stop you coming to stitch that area in a few months and completely forgetting where it is and messing up the inside! Xx

Commenting half way through! I would stitch the strawberries, 1 in the ‘wrong ‘ section and then 1 either side of that section. If the strawberry fits and doesn’t obviously stand out from the others then crack on but … start all the sections from left to right so you don’t have to worry about placement.

Fantastic news on your new house, so exciting. Was talking to my husband about it and he said he'd have the building for his bikes and I could have the summer house 😂 Love how your pink house is coming along, seems to be growing so fast now. Great stash, I've now got Hive Rules as daughter wants it stitching for her, no idea when I'll start it though. I stitch a lot of samplers in hand and tend to roll my fabric up from the bottom to where I'm working and I wash my hands - a lot! - sometimes i'll have a small piece of cloth that i put onto the roll to hold the fabric in very hot weather so that stops my hands sweating into the stitching fabric but most of the time I just go to the cold tap, that way it stretches my legs/back at the same time.

Hello Elaine! I just wanted to thank you again for your wonderful videos and inspiration! It takes me a while to get through a video since I am constantly popping over to 123 Stitch to check out the patterns you show (I added the Strawberry House to my wish list)! It's been a while now... since last Fall, but I first commented on one of your videos after I happened upon it and was completely amazed by your work, especially Cheese Delivery. I was a journal maker, not a stitcher, but you replied that you hoped I would find my stitchy bug. I thought that was so sweet of you but knew it would never happen! So... of course I started stitching soon after and haven't stopped! I have been focusing on smaller projects for now because I have had so much going on, but see something larger on the horizon 😊 I turned 60 last month and have seen so many stitchers start something to celebrate their 60th, but the ideas were all too grand for me. I finally settled on the Keeper of The Pins patterns by Brenda Gervais... 6 patterns for 60 years... and... I ordered my first 2 pieces of linen! I have been using 28 or 32 evenweave/lugana. My package from 123 Stitch arrived today with all of the called for threads and I put my first stitches into linen. My soul rejoiced! 😂 There's no turning back and I will be buying linen for the larger project I have in mind. You can give yourself a pat on the back for being a great enabler! One day I hope to own a needle minder and a project bag as well😉. I love the fact that I have been able to watch your progress on Cheese Delivery and everything else for several months now. I do watch all of your videos. Congrats on finding a new home. It sounds lovely! A bigger home with more walls to fill ☺️ Take care Elaine and happy stitching! Oh... to keep your hands clean, you could always use hand sanitizer, then a damp cloth and then dry them. It's just an idea, but I'm new so...

Congratulations on your 60th and I think keeper of the pins is a great booklet, but anything by Brenda gervais is fantastic in my opinion. If the strawberry fits and it's not too obvious, you could leave it in. A lot of samplers have errors in them and it adds personality to them so I would't worry too much. But of course it depends how much it would bother you in the end.
I quite like stitching in hand but I'm having exactly the same problem as you in the hot weather. I generally only stitch in hand on projects I can wash afterwards or if the weather is cold and my hands are not sweaty. Having a small towel to dry your hand or even help hold your folded up fabric can be helpful too.

Hi Natalia, thanks for the advice regarding stitching in hand, I think I will only stitch like that on a few projects, I still like my q snaps!! I did frog in the end on the sampler. With the Essex Needles Retreat days, yes I will still be there as I organise them with Teresa, so I wouldn’t leave her to do it all herself, so definitely you will see me in November. Take care ❤️🪡🪡🧵🧵

I’d have to frog, because I’d worry that the inner square border might also end up out and then its all on for young and old. And congrats on the house! How exciting!!!! Can’t wait to hear more about it - take care, Nic x

I would definitely not frog it! Especially with the straight inner border to count off of, I don’t see any reason to frog. I stitch in hand and I wash my projects when I’m done with them.

Great to see you again Elaine .Brilliant progress as always 😊 your house sounds so exciting it will come around really fast I’m sure be great to see the chickens 😊 just got back from America and hubbies mum has chickens ❤ fresh eggs everyday just gorgeous.I think maybe go with your instinct on the frogging and possible do the inner border before you decide I couldn’t tell it was wrong but if it bothers you now it will later xx

Hi Elaine! I am so anxious for your life update and here all about your house sale. Congrats on another finish despite everything you have going on. So nice to see wing color on Blackberry Dragon! How thrilling that you have reached the bottom on Cheese Delivery! Wow, you really have done a lot of stitching in the last month. I am so happy that you found your new home, sounds perfect for you. If you sell a house here in the States, the usual clause is that you only have 30 days to evacuate so you are lucky there. I hope the sellers of your new home find a place as quickly as you did. I am sure you would really like to be settled before the holidays. Moving in December is the pits. I am so excited for you that I am having a hard time finding words. I swear my grandson has gained another 20 IQ points in the last couple of weeks. He went from barely stringing 2 words together to 3-4 word sentences that actually make sense and are correct, and can name most colors correctly. Hope everything goes smoothly. Happy stitching. Looking forward to your mid-year WIP parade.

@@elliewelliestitcher Was doing pretty good until I mis-stepped on a curb. After 2 weeks finally got a referral to the ortho and I broke the 3rd and 4th bones between the toes and the ankle on my left foot so now I am in a boot for at least the next 3 weeks, basically the same type of bones that I broke in my hand earlier. Did it the day after I turned 66. This is not the way I want to spend my old age. I don't know why it switched my name, strange!

Urgh, gutted for you with your boarder. I hate to say it but I would frog it. I think you're going to have a problem with that inner boarder because it's not going to be an even distance from the outer boarder. You could stitch the inner boarder and then decide what to do but my gut is that it's going to look weird. And I hate saying this because I'm all for fudging it if at all possible.
Hurrah for afghan stitching - I'm all for people stitching more afghans! The fabric is enormous - much too warm to stitch now. It takes a little while to get used to wrangling that much fabric but once you get into the swing of it it's great.
Congratulations on the house purchase! You'll love having hens!
    Happy stitching Elaine.
