Paccar should take a vnl 860 for a long ride..say 3-4 days...then they need to redesign their bunk...they have a perfect shell with that 86" studio but if i ever bought a w9 with that bunk-fisrt thing i would do is gut the sleeper and mimic volov or freightliner with a kitchen table . really a shame that the biggest factory bunk on the market is soooo lacking in features

That’s because cat stop making truck engine in 2010 because of the EPA restrictions so the only way you can get one now is in a glider if you can even get a kw or Peterbilt glider

A cat motor is a cat motor they have been putting c15s in lots of different equipment. And the way I heard it paccar gave up on cat the stopped offering cat motors when you went to order a truck not the other way around.

I speak with people who have driven a 620hp Manual Cummins (in Australia) and the 685hp Mack MP10 engine with an auto (same as a Volvo 700hp) and everyone says that the 685hp Mack pulls like a 620hp Cummins,,,, I’ve come to the conclusion that those damn 12 speed autos are crap and let those big horsepower Euro trucks down, I’m currently in a MAN TGX 26.560 and the auto ZF gearbox 12 speed is just crap,, they need more gears but yet somehow the Euros are just stuck on 12 speed automatic
Very nice truck, but I'm curious, except for the heavy haul guys, do any highway trucks really need to split the low range? Seems like 13 speeds would be plenty especially with that strong of an engine
I have an uncle that drove a Freightliner with a Detroit Series 60 and a split 10. He out-pulled every 18 speed and 13 speed there was. He had two guys run with him one time, one with a Cummins and the other a Cat. They both bragged about how well their trucks pulled up the hills. When they got to a mountain, he got on the CB and said, “I thought you all said your trucks pulled?” They both replied with how well they were doing. My uncles response? He got into the passing lane and blew past both of them.
Trouble opening that hood. Sounds like Mrs Kenworth Guy needs to put some meat on your bones.....lol. If ordering a truck will Kenworth paint a truck at the factory a colour if the paint code is supplied by buyer. would that be considered an extra cost? P.S love the truck
and where is the Beautiful color I had on my 1999 w900L , it was purple orchid metallic that was a Beautiful color that showed off all the chrome and stainless so Hot.
no use for that new shit its not worth the money, I love my 2002 w900L loaded out from new, and the old stuff is the way to go just put some money into it and you have a nice truck , I could never imagine making payments on something close to 200 Grand id rather have the old truck and keep it updated with new parts and runs BETTER THAN THE NEW STUFF, O DID I MENTION BIG CAT MOTOR,

Why is the downpipe crushed down by the frame rail? I have noticed many KW trucks are that way. Is the fitment that tight where it turns down?

Wheelbase isn’t much. Depends on the range you’re in. Maybe $500. Frame paint is about $900

Oil pan and block heater. Keeps the engine warm in the winter

It depends on where the truck is being used and what application. Region haul or city with flat 13 is fine.

Bruce Sorensen I’ve been sitting in the truck when it’s out pulled a Cat. It’s true. As far as fuel mileage, he averaged around 8.5 MPG when he drove.
