Not true!!! Go take a container and fill it to the brim with water. Now put a block of ice into that container. Lets say for example that 2” of that block of ice are risen above the water line and the block is free floating. There is a portion of the block of ice under water but 2” remain above right. As it melts and completely melts from ice into water … none of the ice remains. And a single drop of water will overflow. The water level remains the same as it was while the block of ice was present. Its all about displacement. As water freezes into ice … the volume of water is smaller than that when it turns to ice. Water is more dense then ice is
