    You could also play the first inversion of the chord in your right hand and move your thumb down to its 9th (perfect fourths) then play C bass with the tenth. Very popular move.

    Yes Mosaic, the chord is derived from the seventh mode of the melodic minor scale, and it coincides with the super locrian mode. The Chord is often used on third progression resolving to the sixth progression. For ex. E7#9#5 to Am9 is a iii vi progression in C.

    Hey man love your vids ...can you do me a favour and tell me how you voiced the g# minor chord that you resolved to after the D# #9 #5 2.35 into this video...i would be so very great full....thankyou Joel

      Good afternoon, I usually voice it with a F# major chord in right F# A# C# over a G#minor in the left F# A# B D#. This voicing makes a G#minor11

      Juan Vargas I can use any inversion, depending on the sound I like when I resolve to the next chord. I listen to how the top note sings across the chords.

      You can call it either: #9#5 or #5#9 either way.
