Hello, I found your channel last week and absolutely love it! I was born and raised in the Netherlands , always near or on the water! I emigrated to California, also near the ocean, I now live in the high desert, landlocked in Arizona. I like it here, it is very rural, but oh do I miss the ocean! Watching you guys' adventures soothes my soul. You are both have such a peaceful vibe. I love your music as well! Safe sailing!

When calculating the tides please always take the following bunch of “special effects” into consideration that most likely will occur in the Frisian Sea resp. Waddenzee:
    (a) Tidal currences keep channeling in and out most forcefully between the islands. Detailed local tide-charts (don’t know about software) will depict hourly sequels of currental forces and directions - on the basis of standard conditions, that is.
    (b) Wind-against-tide-conditions will surprise you with unexpectedly severe conditions such as short and steep waves driven by the currence running up against the winds.
Good news on the other hand: Wind running with tidal currence allows for astonishingly flattened, smooth waves.
So always be on special alert when tide or wind are shifting: This shift of forces may cause massive stress on masts, sails and rigging! Put in a reef beforehand or be ready for quick action.
    (c) Stay clear of undeep spots that might leave you with ground waves.
    d) Strong winds most likely will render your tidal charts temporarily useless by shifting huge masses of water into as well as out of your way - the latter possibly critical for your clearance.
    Here also avoid case (c).
    e) In case of serious trouble don’t hesitate to call coast guard. They’ll take you on their radar and guide you safely out of harm. (No joke: in the olden times they sometimes asked you to drive a loop pattern for identification - but I guess that’s well out of the way in modern digital times ;-)
Now please excuse my cumbersome English and my little drama-build-up.
I’m sure you’ll do well as you always do.
Have a good one and stay safe!
    Cheers, Peter 🏴‍☠️

Have watched a lot of these sailing sites over the pandemic period (addicted to them), and one thing I've noticed they have very similar background and opening music accompanying them.
Just a thought with your musical talent, plus your producing talents, another way for income, you could make tunes and songs to suit the sailing community, and offer them on-line for a small fee.

Yeah. I too don't know what navionics are thinking when they publish tidal information in NL. They happily provide crazy high and low water for the entire IJsselmeer as well which doesn't have any tides. And whenever I looked it up for the north sea or wadden sea it made no sense when comparing to other published info.

Well, it won't help them anymore, but there is a document on the internet with the best times to travel with the current.
      Ask Google for: "vertrektijden jachthavens"
And it gives for Magic Carpets journey: 0 tot 5 uur voor LW Oudeschild (0 to 5 hours before Low Water in OudeSchild )
So they just started the journey just opposite to the window given here. :-(

A Dutch guy in a TV quiz in the UK, years ago, rang the buzzer to answer a question about the name of that sea along the Dutch coast behind those islands. He answered "Wadden Sea" and lost the game. He should have said "Frisian Sea" - it felt so wrong for a bunch of foreign islanders to change the name of "our" sea and dare say we've got it wrong.
About the Dutch name, have you thought about the name "wadden"? It's a biotope where, depending on the tide, we can wade. That was a way to harvest sea fruit, in the past. Today, guided tours are offered to walk/wade from Friesland to one of the islands. (Forget to try it when not enough trained, when neither weather nor water are warm, when you have a risk of bursitis and tendinitis, or when you are a heavy frame on small feet ...)

Your mooring lines. The rounded shape of a sailing boat make it hard to prevent the horizontal rocking motion, you might think. Have a line at the front and tie it to a nearby bollard on the pier and do the same at the aft - the boat will rock with wind and waves (looking from the helm forward, and the bow of the boat may move from port to starboard and back - that kind of rocking.)
Now add a third line that makes a triangle. Start at an (near) aft cleat and run the mooring line to a bollard on the pier at midship, where you lock it, and now take the other half of the mooring line to a cleat near the bow. With proper cushions between the boat and the pier, all the motion got arrested this way when the line is tight enough. When you are confident enough, you may think this is the only line you need ...
Think of your variants and how to adjust for tidal changes when piers are fixed (don't go up and down with tide).

I know how to create a split screen (for running different clips together) but I’m really curious how you make those segments that show you in all the different poses composing your music. That is a real mystery to me! I am making my videos on my iPhone (mostly) using Adobe Premier Rush. Love the challenge of video editing. You guys are doing a wonderful job!

When I was young I was into kickboxing and eventually became and instructor but as a kid I had massive amounts of energy and would be roaming around the house punching and kicking things in the air. It would get on my fathers nerves and he would say, Stop being such a spaz or spas. Some would find that to be offensive, nowadays but growing up! in the seventies, it was a common thing to hear. IE Your such a spas..lol

Nice video, my first of yours, most interesting! Not sure how your man copes with a single female, then a pair then triplets, then quads and finally quins all playing different instruments or singing, what a family ha ha, lovely. Its also great to learn of your mistakes, we all make them sometimes. Good to see the mooring techniques and also great to see the two of you sharing your adventures. Most enjoyable!😁🌬⛵⚓

How nice to see you guys in the Netherlands! What are your plans regarding the Wadden? Your boat is probably to deep to go to the smaller islands that are so beautiful and more quiet than Texel that is close to the mainland with that big car ferry. Terschelling could be a good compromise with a deep keel harbour that is always accessible. The ultra summum is to spend a night on the Wadden sandbanks in a "platbodem" or twin keel boat!! I will be sailing myself on the Lauwersmeer in the north of Friesland this weekend, who knows ;-)
