Recently (after I made this video) I just ran into the same issue, no heat…My thermostat has been replaced and I checked the antifreeze levels to make sure they were right. I’m hoping it’s not the heater core.
Here are some things that could cause you to not get heat: bad thermostat, low antifreeze, clogged/broken heater core, blown fuses, faulty blower motor, and some other issues.
Your best bet if you know the antifreeze is good and the thermostat is working fine, bring it to a shop and have them look into the issue. If they tell you it’s something you know how to fix then you can try fixing it yourself, otherwise have them fix your issue!
I’ll let you know as soon as I find out what is wrong with mine!

I replaced the temp sensor and still had issues. V6 2014 Dodge avenger se Canadian model. I closed the vents, set to heat, turned it to heat and hit the recirculation air. Heat came through the whole car. Hoses from firewall were both hot while the radiator hoses were as well. This was my technique.

If the needle on the temp gauge covers the center white mark on the gauge, it's not overheating?
The needle on the temp gauge in my 2012 Dodge Avenger does that and it honestly freaks me out a little.

From what I've been told, dodge avengers are FAMOUS for bad heater core systems for heat. I know people who have changed their core around 5-6 times because the heat stopped working. It's a dodge problem and they failed to fix the other models of the avenger. But as for the thermostat, I'm having same issue with engine temperature, it's also in the shop right now as I was smoking from under the hood and had to pull over yesterday.. could also be a plugged core.

Not sure if you reply to comments, but was your heater not blowing hot air? I have same year Avenger and heater quit working, blower works though. Could that be thermostat? AC works though. I fear it's the heater core

Hey Angie, Matt here, thanks for watching the video. Yes, of course we do! So my issue when I filmed the video was that my thermostat was broken. I could clearly see that my engine temp wasn’t where it needed to be and that’s when I went to get it diagnosed, confirmed that it was the thermostat, and replaced it. Crazy enough, not too long after that my car stopped producing warm air. While I was at work my parents brought it into a shop and they replaced my thermostat…yup the new one I just bought -.- So anyway, I feel the place didn’t fix the new issue and got paid to replace my thermostat I just replaced. Anyway, if I were you. After making sure the coolant is of course at the right level and not the issue I’d drive to my local auto parts store and get it obd2 scanned (it can’t hurt), you can monitor your engine temp along the way. After that you can see if there is a thermostat issue. If that’s not it and you know you’re blower is working…well it may be the heater core you fear. I’ll update you when I find out the issue with mine!
