As we approach the 50th year anniversary of the Burning of Long Kesh (October 15th 1974) I spoke to a man who was there and witnessed the whole event; the build up, the explosive of violence & destruction and the aftermath.
John Nixon, a young men at the time, had only been there imprisoned for a few months when the arson took place. John describes the brutal fighting that took place afterwards between the guards and the prisoners and the punishment dished out to the Republicans following their actions.
John also speaks more about the formation of the INLA which took place in the months following the Burning of Long Kesh.

I remember going the maze on visits as a little kid to see my grandad I didn’t know what It was and got told it was a big hospital and grandad only worked there as security lol I fell for thst story for years lol
