Thanks. It definitely wasn't my idea. But I've been using a fosters pot for a long time. I still have my original and it hasn't worn out. Thanks a lot for watching.
I'm guessing that you have to stick to designated campsites? Do you have to stick to the trails, or can you go off on your own? Can you make a campfire there?
Yeah, Texas state parks are mostly all the same. Have to stay at designated sites and no campfires at backpacking sites. I think some parks prefer you stay on trail but I dont feel bad about going off trail at all.
I stayed at site 3 a couple of weeks ago even though 7 is my favorite. And on those hot summer nights couscous rehydrates just as fast with cold water. Mix in a foil pack of tuna or chicken and you have a good meal. Another good video. I like the Zpacks tent.
That's a great idea on the couscous. I'll have to check out site 7 next time I get out there. Hopefully sometime in the next couple weeks. This was my first night with the Zpacks Duplex. Love it so far. Thanks for watching.
Awesome. It's a great place for kids. We were actually there this past weekend with our boys. Hopefully it quits raining and the water goes down. The river was too high to see the tracks this past weekend. But as long as it doesn't rain a bunch right before you go, the tracks should be visible.
Look up Zelph's stoves. I think his website is woodgaz stoves. He's great to work with. It's actually my wife's stove. I normally use an esbit stove or jetboil minimo.
Campsite 4 is pretty good IMO. Hiking in August in Texas? You're a tough guy! Did you go during the week as that place is usually busy on weekends and I didn't see anyone else in the video. Check out my vid on the Sawyer Mini for some hacks. Keep up the good work!
TheGoatMumbler I did go during the week. Way too busy for me on the weekends. I saw 1 group of 2 people early in the day and that was all I saw. even when swimming in the river for over an hour. didn't see anyone. It was hot but not terrible. I'll check out your video for sure. Thanks for watching.
The overlook view was awesome. Thanks for sharing your journey.
Ingenious way to repurpose a Fosters can.

On of my favorite parks for day trips! I stayed there for a camping trip earlier this year, so nice.
Its a great park. I ended up taking my family down there a couple days after this trip just to swim and check out the dino stuff.

That water was probably cold
Looked like a fun time. I just went on my first overnighter since the spring as the weather here in TN has finally cooled some

Omg I’m heading there in couple weeks and taking my son for the first time!

I really like your cook kit. Did you make it yourself or did you purchase it from somewhere?
