Hiking 16 Miles at Cleburne State Park | 3 Loops Dayhike
Earlier this year I started hiking a loop in Cleburne State Park (Texas) that was exactly 5 miles, with a goal of adding on additional loops throughout the year. On this hike I did 3 loops for the first time. I hope to be at 5 loops by the end of the year or at least sometime during the winter.
If you go out to Cleburne and hike this same loop, I'd love to hear about your experience.

Is This the Coolest Summit of Any State? | Hawkeye Point | Highest Point in Iowa
Просмотров 24414 дней назад
This was the 9th and final highpoint of our 2024 Summer Highpointing Roadtrip. We travelled to the summit of Iowa, Hawkeye Point (Elev. 1670 feet), on July 7, 2024. Beautiful day and we loved our time at the summit. There was so much to see. Iowa has really put a lot into this park. The boys were feeling inspired (we had just been to the Field of Dreams) and played a lot of catch in the beautif...
Charles Mound | Walking to the Highest Point in Illinois

Charles Mound is located on private property in the Northwest corner of Illinois. The property owners allow public access to the "summit" on certain weekends each year. You can find more information out by visiting the Highpointers website or Facebook page. This was our 31st State Highpoint as a family. And definitely the buggiest. I'm not sure if it's usually this way but the bugs were terribl...
Going to the Highest Point in Wisconsin | Timm's Hill

Standing at an elevation of 1951 feet above sealevel, Timm's Hill is the highest natural point in the state of Wisconsin. We traveled to this country park as a part of our 2024 summer highpointing roadtrip. This made our 30th State Highpoint as a family! 60% complete!
Mount Arvon | The Highest Point in Michigan
Просмотров 17828 дней назад
This made highpoint number 29 for the Hall Family. At 1979 feet above sea level, Mount Arvon is harder to get to than it is to actually summit. There is a lot of dirt forest road driving involved. We stayed in a hotel in the town of Baraga, MI, right on the shores of Lake Superior. From our hotel it was nearly an hour drive to make it to the trailhead. The walk to and around the summit area is ...
Black Mesa State Park Tour | Oklahoma State Parks
Просмотров 18928 дней назад
This is a short tour of Black Mesa State Park near Kenton, Oklahome; waaaaaay out in the Oklahoma Panhandle. This was shot in June of 2024. While it was very windy, we overall had good weather. We saw TONS of wildlife in our two nights at the park. Our reason for staying here was to be close to the trailhead for Black Mesa, the highest point in Oklahoma. This park is also known for its dark ski...
Fort Parker State Park | Throwback Video

This was some old footage that I never did anything with. It was really fun watching these old clips of my boys. My favorite videos on my channel are the ones of them or us 4 all together. So I thought I'd post it on here for friends and family or anyone who has been following my channel long enough to remember when they were little! I think this was from 8 years ago.
Backpacking New Mexico | Climbing Truchas Peak | Pecos Wilderness
Просмотров 365Месяц назад
This was an overnight backpacking trip in the Pecos Wilderness near Santa Fe, New Mexico at the end of August 2024. My friend @OneMansOdyssey came up with this route for us from Jack's Creek Trailhead, to the summit of Truchas Peak (the highest point in the Pecos Wilderness), and back. We also saw Kennedy Point, Beatty's Cabin, and Pecos Baldy Lake. We only saw two other people the entire route...

In future videos PLEASE don't scan so much or so fast .... I wanted to watch this because I stay here often BUT I got vertigo from the video.
@Fred-rs7py sorry it was hard to watch. Sort of funny thing is that this is the only video I ever videoed with a gimbal. So it's actually smoother than most of my other videos. Thanks for giving it a shot anyway. I appreciate you watching.
4.5lbs without the camera gear. Nice
Sweet five hours 15 miles! Congratulations!!!! 🍾🎉🎈 hope rain did come in. Conquering that goal
Thanks, Liz. We did get a little rain. There was actually a tiny bit of water dripping over the spillway. Should get more rain in a few days. Lots of places in TX need some rain!
Love this :)
Thanks man!
Welcome back to Texas! At least from a video standpoint. 😊
Yeah, it has been a while!
Wow! You’re a beast!!! Love the video!!!
I don't know about that, but I did feel accomplished. Now I need to get 4 loops soon!
Awesome! Thanks.
I hiked there several years ago, and as you had said in an earlier video, the trails can be confusing. I think sticking to the outer loop trail is the best thing😃. Pretty place.
Hey Paul, good to hear from you! There are trails that are very confusing for sure. I won't even hike the Pink Trail. It winds back and forth and has so many pointless cut through and add ons that it's hard to keep track of where you are on trail. You have e a good point about staying on this loop and the trails make way more sense. Thanks for taking time to comment. Great hearing from you.
Man, I miss getting out there. Morris Meals or Burger Bar is a nice reward.
@@BluecollarBackcountry I ended up at Morris Neal's. It was worth it! We missed you at the meetup. Everybody asked about you. I hope we can get together for a camping trip or breakfast or something sometime. I hope you had a good time with your family in Arkansas!
Hey Tony, I sure have missed your presence on The Tube. I watched your tip to tip trip for the humptennth time the other night @bluecollarbackcountry
Hey there Tony!!! Miss ya!!!
Yep. It was a dry month for sure. I hope it improves a lot especially at the Grassland for December.
Yeah, we could still use more rain to get us caught back up.
Thank you for this! I am in the área and appreciate learning about this trail. I think we are starting to really cool off around here now and we have some great hiking weather in the forecast!
Hopefully we have a long "cool" season before it gets too cold. It's a great time of year to get some miles in. We could still use a little more rain as well. Thanks for watching and happy hiking!
When hiking," the early bird gets a face full of spider webs!"
@@hikingwithjackieboy I know that's right!
Don't show people that!! I5s been hidden from most for long time. Go home berry picker
Don't worry, I'm home. We didn't get any berries, but we did have a giant cinnamon roll at a Cafe nearby.
I love it! Sure have enjoyed you sharing these.
Jerry, thanks a lot for watching these. These videos definitely don't get the traffic and comments others do. So I really appreciate you taking time to watch and comment.
Another one in the books! Let me ask you Cameron. When y’all get all the high points done are you gonna start on the lowest state points?
I doubt it. We probably have 10 more years in our high pointing journey. Ethan is only 9 years old right now. And now we're on to the bigger, more spread out, Western mountains. We will almost surely slow down to only 1 - 4 mountains a year from now on.
Ty
Thanks for watching.
Love it! We were there two days before you.
That's awesome! It was such a neat highpoint. We loved it and had a great time.
Cool channel. Subbed
Thanks for watching and for the sub!
Address please
I’ll be Honest!!! YOU should have Turned Back 2 miles in
A sea of trees. I’m impressed that it’s a wooden tower.
And huge at that! Very well built. The old metal tower ... not so much. Although I have seen where people have climbed it. These upper Midwest highpoints don't have a lot of prominence but each of them was still really beautiful.
@ Yeah, I discovered that on the Mountains to Sea trail in NC. But the views as still beautiful in my book. I’d definitely go back to see them again.
What a beautiful area!!
Yeah, one thing we learned on this trip and others we have done to the highpoints is that there are so many beautiful places around the country that you never hear about. We've gotten to visit some really cool, out of the way places through Highointing.
It’s a long time dream of mine to go backpacking for a night or two. I’d love to do it. Now that I’m entering my mid 20s I want to start having adventures like these with my dogs
Start small and gain confidence. At the end of the day, it's just walking and sleeping. Good luck to you. Thanks for watching.
That's cool you're making all those trips. Nice video 👍
Thanks, Rod. Thanks for watching. We were able to knock off 9 highpoints on this trip in 2024. We will have less in 2025 but we are going to do a few big ones west of us.
Helpful . Thanks alot . All best
I appreciate you watching!
That's an optimistic sell for the grandiosity of the high point on that summit sign.
Ah, it's all relative I guess. Just under 2000 feet probably feels like being above treeline on a snowcapped peak to the great people of Michigan.
Long way from Texas.👍
@@rlands5134fd it sure was. I think we ended up around 5000 miles on this trip.
Nice remote State Park. We live in South Texas so we rarely travel to State Parks in other States. Will remember this one for future travels.
Not sure that I'd go too far out of my way to visit but it is very convenient if you're doing the Oklahoma highpoint and it's not too far out of the way if headed to Colorado or something.
Great job dealing with the elements. Really beautiful out there. Bucket list destination for me. Really cool video 👍🏻👍🏻
It was a really beautiful area. The little bit of hail we got and the rain just added to the memories. Thanks for watching, Jason.
Nice. Pretty great views atop! This reminded me of camp stops when I’d was a young un with my folks on our way to the mountains. After setting up, dad would take me on little exploration hikes.
My boys will run around by themselves a bit but Ethan likes waking up early with me and exploring the parks before everyone else wakes up.
the amount of “uh”s and “um”s made it unbearable to watch the whole thing. good content, but something to note from a viewer standpoint
I do the best I can. Glad you didn't have to watch the whole video. Or have to listen to me in everyday life. I'm sure it's rough. Thanks for the feedback.
What an awesome vacation!!!
It was pretty nice. We love that doing the state highpoints takes us to places we would never otherwise go.
@@CameronHall88 yes!!! Brilliant!!!
Awesome video!!!
Thanks for watching.
The boys were so little!!!
I love listening to all the little things they were saying in the background.
@@CameronHall88 me too!!! Adorable!!
Nice campground!!!
Looks like a nice State Park
Looks like a neat little park. Been a long time since I saw a Horny Toad! When I lived in Bedford as a kid before development they were everywhere so glad to see they are making a comeback!
@GeezerAdventures we've been there twice and I've seen them both times. I think we saw 5 on this trip.
Horned lizards are still in decline. If people would quit spraying their land and yards to kill ants, the horned lizards WOULD make a comeback because they would have enough food. Harvester ants do not attack people and they are the horned lizards food source. All ants are not fire ants. Quit spraying poisons unless you can specifically target a fire ant colony!
Thanks for sharing this. It makes me want to review my packing list. Do you bring any first aid items besides the ibuprofen bag and leukotape?
I don't carry much of a first aid kit and I never have in the past. I actually don't know that I've ever used the ibuprofen either. Ive just been lucky i guess. But I am putting together an actual (but still small) first aid kit as I have started going on trips with my kids.
Thanks for the informative video! I'm on my way to Mckitrick Canyon today. We're mid October. Hoping to see some good color.
They may not be at peak, but I'm sure you'll still see some awesome color. I hope your trip goes well!
Its gonna be crazy when its time to summit Denali.
@@philip8551 what's really going to be crazy is figuring out how I'll ever afford all 4 of us making that trip!
😂 I was like who’s headstone is that

Great job! Not an area we were familiar with but certainly worth looking into - beautiful! Enjoyed the video.
It was my first time. But it was a great trip. Could drive all the way from north Texas in a day and start hiking the next morning. Really big mountains near Santa Fe. It was really pretty. Can't wait to visit again.
Wow! I’ve not been there. Some good history too. Thanks, Cameron!
It's close enough to us, we need to go again. I found these old clips while I was editing another video. It was really fun seeing these videos with my boys when they were pretty small. The history around the cemetery in the video was really neat. Definitely worth checking out again.
My wife is from Muheyuh ! :)
I love the spelling! Haha.
I love that park, it's underrated.
We need to revisit Fort Parker for sure. It's not that far from us. I found these old clips from when my kids were little while I was editing another video. Not really a great video, but these ones with my kids are always my favorite. Hopefully they can look back on them one day when they're older and enjoy.
@@CameronHall88 that's what it's all about. I know I do the same thing with my son during the summer.
Hell yeah! I always enjoy your music selections, and it really transported me out there with y’all. That shot of the bird soaring coupled with the music really spoke to me. The power pose by Nate at the end of the video was also pretty awesome heh-heh. New Mexico is such a cool state for the outdoors. Beautiful scenery and a great video my friend. I’m going to have to make a trip up there! Ps, I couldn’t help but smile while watching this one.
Thanks for watching. The area was really beautiful, which made it easy to get some beautiful shots. But what was the most beautiful was not having to carry days' worth of water at a time!
