Finding high-quality assets for free can be difficult, so in this video, I will be listing a few of my personal favourites in the building category as well as some awesome complimentary props!

Free Stylized Nature Environment by Ink Phantom Studio,
Dark Fantasy Kit [Free] by RuneMark studio,
and my favorite of them, Basement and Sewerage Modular Location by Sevastian Marevoy.
Anyway, you're an awesome channel because you review the best *free* assets, and it makes a lot more sense, when the majority of developers are low-budget- developers, but still aiming for AAA.

Just wanted to ask that can we import these architectures to other engines such as blender or substance painter? Or can we edit them itself in unity?
Thanks its awesome to hear that you enjoy my content. You should be able to import the models to other engines and software if they support the file type, however, materials will likely not transfer unless the file format is like fbx etc. However, you may be breaching licenses if you do import them into different software so if you are publicly displaying or selling a game using these models I would contact the author first to make sure it is fine. Hope this helps 😊

thank you brother this is amazing i also found a few packs before watching this video but they are older and for some i had to fix some errors but is great, i'm also in the middle of a build i took from here the the blacksmith and the blacksmith forge , i am going to take the ship as well once i get to that part and the medieval weapons and swords ( blacksmith forge has so many weapons xDDD i'll see how that evolves ) and some other assets form ur other video like Photoscanned MountainRock and BirchTree ( i wrote an awesome story for an rpg these past 2 years i actually wrote a trilogy haha so i just need some assets to build my vision xD it's gonna be magnificent like me ofc :P ) ty for these videos :) ( found some awesome payed assets as well but for now....well i'm in the free budget zone haha)
That's awesome to hear that your starting to develop your rpg project! It is good to see that you have planned out a story already, it helps a lot to have a specific direction when developing. It will be cool to see some progress videos or screenshots once you get going :)

Hey sketch, great video as always! Do you think you could make a video where you build a forest scene using the free book of the dead assets?
Interesting that you say that as I actually wanted to do that in the past. However, when I tried, it didn't work out too well since the book of the dead project has many custom features which cause issues and errors if you don't set them up correctly so I was never able to create something that worked probably. I might try again in the future but for now, I'm just going to leave it. Also. thanks! It's awesome to hear that you enjoy my content 😊

That last scene was made using the Sun Temple assets I just mixed and matched a lot of the pieces to make custom buildings, also added some custom textures.

Thanks. The skybox with the moving clouds is from the Flooded Grounds pack. Sun temple also has a similar skybox

can I become a level design artist or game environment artist, if I'm using free assets for visual purpose?
I have a very poor talent in complex 3d modeling and texturing, but I can make some props using Maya and Zbrush.
also I good eye in composition and placement for the game scene and more.

Firstly, level design in an actual industry context refers to the way you layout a level like where you place certain objects, NPCs and why. Unfortunately, on YT people only seem to equate level design with creating the graphics of levels, in industry this would be referred to as environment artist (although, different companies give different names).
In a AAA context environment artists are more of a general role, they tend to work on a lot of things like building the world, 3d modelling etc.
However, in an indie context, you can easily find work which is purely level design (in YT context).
Remember that the gaming industry doesn’t require any degrees it’s all portfolio-based, so, your main goal is to work on a series of projects that show off your skills well and network with people. If you’re just starting out established indie companies are not going to hire/contract with just a few screenshots of your work even if they look good, you need to have other projects to show that you can work in a game development structure and also know how to manage your time etc. So, I would create a few personal projects by yourself or with some others, take a lot of care with these since they are the most important. Also, involve yourself in the community, look around your area I’m sure they are small groups of like-minded people which you should try to connect with because it is likely they know even more like-minded people which can, in turn, improve your network and make you better known and more likely to land indie jobs in your area.
During this time you should, of course, be perfecting your skills and challenging yourself. Also, if you want to work AAA I recommend learning 3d modelling you will struggle to find work that is just building the level and additionally if you do, it usually has a lower salary compared to other positions.
After, a while you should have a decent amount of projects and connections in your portfolio that will allow you to start applying for AAA roles.
Obviously, you can never create a clear path to a certain career this easily, but, it should give you a good foundation to base your decisions off if you want to get into the gaming industry. Hope this helps

The environmental package comes with those demo scenes of that was your job?
All the scenes in the video are my own, most of the packages only come with showcase demo scenes of every model. The Sandro T packages, however, do come with full level designs

What asset did you use for the grass and and ground in the Free Industrial building asset and The Wasteland Lite?
Ground textures are from Unity's default environment pack (navigate to Assets > Import Package > Environment), while the grass is from Flooded Grounds, I just adjusted the colour in both the grass settings and terrain settings. Hope this helps 😊
@@sketch3436 I meant as in like, the terrain, the ground that you walk on in the scene and the hills and stuff like that.

These free assets are for personal use or can be used in games that you sell?
The Unity asset store license essentially states that all assets uploaded can be used commercially unless they are labelled as a ''restricted asset' (like book of the dead assets etc). So I believe that these assets can be used commercially as none of them were labelled restricted. But as all legal stuff goes it's way more complicated so I cannot be certain. I have highest doubts for the Sandro T assets (Sun Temple & Flooded Grounds) as the quality is too high for free use, in my opinion, furthermore, it doesn't come with a license 😒.
So if you're serious with the creation and distribution of your game I would recommend emailing asset creators to be certain. Most creators have their contact details available on their profiles.
Sorry for the long reply but this is one of the topics where it can be difficult to get a clear answer. Regardless, hopefully, this helps 😊

Yes, because these assets do not have a restricted assets label on the store page.
I recommend having a quick look through Unity's terms and conditions it can help a lot when figuring out if you can use certain assets.

All you have to do is download them from the asset store. Even if an asset becomes a paid asset in the future you will still own it.

No, the grass was added in to help showcase the assets. The grass I used is also free and is apart of Unity's environmental pack which you can download by navigating to Assets > Import Package > Environment.
Alternatively, you can also download the standard assets packs from the asset store which include the environmental pack:
