Finally, this could just be something that happens with the new Unity versions, after-all this tutorial was done on one of the 2018 versions. Hope this helps :)
first of all, the grass texture u use at the start isnt in the pack. So i clicked on a random grass texture when editing the terrain and when i click on the terrain it does nothing. how do you paint grass on the terrain???
Massive thanks to you mate, this has helped me create an outstanding piece of work for my school project. I would like to ask one thing, how are you able to preview the rocks and boulders in your inspector menu on the bottom right?
That's awesome to hear. To get a preview just click on the 3d model and then left-click on the bar at the bottom of the inspector window that has the model name, right-clicking this will also expand the preview to fullscreen. Hope this helps 😊
All you need to do is create a new terrain (GameObject > 3D Object > Terrain), then navigate to the paint texture tab on the terrain and select create new terrain layer, this will bring up a window where you can select a texture, if you place in the grass texture as your first texture it will automatically fill the terrain with that texture. Hope this helps :)
I noticed that you didn't make the objects static for the built in renderer. Is this a better way for the game to run? Or is making all objects static hard on your cpu? Thanks for the video.
Setting objects to static will improve performance, however, if you have static objects the lighting cannot change. I didn't set my objects to static since I didn't want the video to turn into a performance video. Hope this helps :)
Simply Brilliant, Watched the video few times and I still totally Love it, Thank you for the great Tutorial and fantastic Content, Looking forward for all future videos, I have 1 Noob question :) I can't seem to adjust the terrain height after i add the layers and other prefabs, the scene screen simply turns black once i choose the raise/lower terrain option, is there any fix or am i forgetting to do something ? Thumbs up and subscribed to ur channel off course :)
Thanks, I really appreciate it 😊. That bug you have sounds very strange, I haven't had anything like that before. However, I assume there is some conflict or missing file somewhere which is causing the terrain system to stop working. I would recommend to reimport all assets by navigating to Assets > Reimport All. If the bug still occurs check if it still occurs in a different project if it does it is likely an issue with the core Unity files and you probably need to reinstall Unity. Hope this helps
This video uses the old terrain system so that will be why you are having troubles finding the texture options. For the new system, you have to click the paintbrush button, then you should see a tab below it, by default I believe it is set to 'raise and lower terrain', click on this and select 'paint texture'. You then need to add your textures, you do this by 'creating a new layer' when you press this button you can select the texture you want. Hope this helps :)
All you need to do is unzip the folder and and place it anywhere on your computer. Then launch Unity Hub and click the 'ADD' button, then just select the folder and it should work. Let me know if you have any issues :)

That does sound strange, you should make sure that all your layers are selected on your light (the layers tell the light what objects it can effect). zuzuuii Yes easily, all you have to do is navigate to Assets > Import assets > Character, this will install Unity’s standard player controller package. Next search for FPSController in your project and drag the prefab into your scene, make sure to disable or remove your main camera and that’s it! If you play you should be able to walk around like any other game. Hope this helps 😊
Hi. Can you show how to open the Rocky Hills Environment - Light Pack you gave as here after i import it from the store? for some reason i cant open it.
When you import from the store it should be automatically added to your project, there are no additional steps to open things etc. To check that it is in your project or not click the import button again from the asset store, if you see blue ticks in the package preview it means those files are not in the project.
You will need a player controller in the scene to walk around. Unity's standard asset pack comes with a prefab called FPSCotnroller just drag and drop this into your scene and it should work :) Standard Assets: assetstore.unity.com/packages/essentials/asset-packs/standard-assets-for-unity-2017-3-32351
Thanks 😊. You can run any project in any version, however, it is prefered to run a project in the correct version it was initially made in to avoid errors. Since my project consists of mainly 3d models and not a lot of scripts outside of unity's files itself it should be okay with your 2017 version. I recommend using Unity hub as it allows you to easily download different unity versions and then change which version you use for different projects with a single click. unity3d.com/get-unity/download Hope this helps 😊
By base, I'm assuming you mean the terrain. The reason why you might be having some issues is because in this video it used the old terrain system so all the UI is different. In the new system, you have to select ''Paint Texture' from the tab drop-down (by default I think it says raise and lower terrain). My latest follow along video uses the new system so just skip to the texturing part if you are confused. Hope this helps :D
If you could provide a bit more detail that would be great. Post-processing has a few required steps for it to work, so make sure that you have a post-processing layer on your main camera with a selected layer, wherever your post-processing volume script is, make sure to set its layer to the layer you selected. Hope this helps :)
@@sketch3436 Well, in the video when you add the "post-processing layer" component to your main camera i don't have that option, only the option to add a post processing script. I also don't know what a post-processing volume script is,(I'm very new) so that might also be a problem.
@@sketch3436 I figured it out, thank you very much!
@@nemothedino6869 That's good to hear :)
You just saved my ass! Thanks a lot
All good
Is it in URP, HDRP, LWRP, 3d?
