- Here we go, more subbed Kancolle. This one was tough!
So if we take a look into the booklet, we can see both Kongou and Haruna fighting against two abyssal princesses (the Symbiotic and Airfield ones), with a higher focus on Kongou.
Following the lyrics, seems like the abyssals get their asses kicked. However, they also get to bring the ships along with them to the bottom of the sea...

I've listened to this quite a few times and only now noticed that one frame at the end which flashes red.

そう言えば、霧島以下の日本艦隊とサウスダコタとワシントン、駆逐艦四隻の米軍艦隊の艦隊戦が事実上の艦隊決戦ですね。サウスダコタはボコボコにできましたが、霧島はワシントンのレーダー管制射撃で九発被弾して航行不能(後に沈没)。
劇場版で第二艦隊にいたメンバーのほとんどは実際にアイアンボトムサウンドに散った艦艇。

No wonder Kongou is so determined to win. After all, her sister Kirishima and Hiei was sunk during the Solomon Campaign (i.e where the Ironbottom Sound is)
Christopher Halim there is like 10 different ships in iron bottom sound 2 of which being the USS Atlanta and her sister ship the USS Juno

There's about everything down there from little PT boats to those two big _Kongō_ class battlecruisers... It's like a damn naval Verdun and well merits its moniker. (Also the _Atlanta_ class had no ship named Juno though; there was a _Juneau_ however which is keeping its big sis company down there...)

Also minor detail but there was no "US Air Force" at the time, they weren't an independent branch yet (that only happened in '47) and instead still organisationally under the Army and duly went by "US Army Air Forces" (USAAF) - the flyboy brass were *at least* as concerned with winning their independence from the Army as they were with winning the war.
Also lot of Navy planes down 'round Guadalcanal, what with a good three different full fleet carriers being deployed there at various times.

Kancolle is the only shipgirl franchise that actually understands what makes shipgirls appealing as a concept
there's a reason so much of the KC fanart is totally unsexy images of violence and redemption
I mean beneath all those cute moe stuff, KC have a dark and sad undertone that actually make you feel bad for the IJN fleet and their eventual demise . it help you understand the axist side of the story
@@faynk.6247 Heres a question for you, Kancolle is from IJN's perspective so if the enemy is the USN and its allies how does that make the USN abyssals? As I understand Abyssals are sunken shipgirls that are more or less twisted poltergeists of their former selves brought back to the surface by whatever malevolence exists at the bottom of the sea...
afaik, Kancolle was the original Shipgirl franchise so of course they understand, they made the damn genre! XD
@@Feiora The popular fan theory back then was the Allied are the Abyssals. but it was a common misconception. the game, anime and movie shows that every sunken shipgirls in the past (even IJN) can become abyssals. the game isn't based around IJN vs Allied like many people often think, it more around shipgirls vs abyssals (light vs dark). As a Teitoku On your way to eliminate all abyssal threads you can come across many abyssal ships and by sinking them you cure them from their abyssal state and bring them to your base. Also the current newly added ships in KC as of 2021 are South Dakota, Washinton and Honolulu( all USN ships).

Such a good rearrange, you really get a sense of the grief and hopelessness they felt watching their friends die around them. Can't say much for the translation though, whoever did that really needs to work on not transliterating certain,lines and think of better alternatives because some of them make me cringe ^^;

American GI if I do belive the Kongo was the last Kongo class to sink in 1945 I THINK
+jakob ming Haruna was the last one being sunk of the Kongou sisters in 1945. Kongou was sunk by a sub in 1944.
The US Navy has sunk many Japanese warships, including the battleship Kongo. But that was unavoidable. Because that is "war" ...

アイアムボトムサウンド？
アイアンボトムサウンドとは、昭和18年に起きたガダルカナル消耗戦の主戦場となったガダルカナル付近の海峡。大戦中、日本軍の鼠輸送の駆逐艦やアメリカ軍の重巡、両軍の航空機など、多くの兵器がこの海域に沈み、それらが海底を埋め尽くしているため、鉄底海峡(アイアンボトムサウンド)と呼ばれています。(金剛はアイアンボトムサウンドに沈んでませんけどね。ちなみに金剛の姉妹艦の比叡と霧島はここに沈んでいます。)
