It's so funny how many people are complaining about 'lack-luster iPhones' yet they buy the super expensive Pro Max just to scroll tik tok and take pet photos from time to time
One large point you missed is that apple knows how often their users upgrade (~2-4years). They’re not creating the iPhone 16 to appeal to the 15 users, they’re appealing to the 13 users who’s jump from 13 to the 16 will be a large
I get a new iPhone for work every two years. The last device that I felt really moved things forward was the iPhone 12 Pro Max because of the camera and OLED screen. From there I had the iPhone 14 Pro and now the iPhone 16 Pro Max. The fact is that the iPhone 12 Pro Max is 4 years old and is functionally, for my uses, the same device as my brand new iPhone 16 Pro Max.
@@johnolin you know I have an iPhone 13 mini and I went to the Apple store to check out the iPhone 16 and I don't think it's really worth an upgrade as honestly the cameras on the 13 I would say we're better in some ways than the 16 on some of the shots I took and besides that the dynamic island which I don't really care about and so I'd say maybe if you have the 12 it's worth upgrading but I think 13 you can hold off at least for another year easily
With AI we'll be able to stand in front of a store, take a photo and AI will tell us the opening hours. Which is literally written on the shopwindows... :D
We have reached the point where phones are cars and tv’s. We just have to change our mindset to what the upgrade cycle is. Won’t see people complying about Samsungs 2023 4k tv
People keep defending Apple - this is the reason i left them in 2009 and never looked back. the samsung s24 ultra has managed an SPen, better screen. more features, better camera and still get criticized than apple who have released the same thing for 5 yrs straight. Even Pixels make changes to their phone lineup and huawei are on another level.. yet everyone wants to claim phones have gotten to its peak when Apple are just the ones who have refused to be innovative smh
@@adventuresofa9jaguy322 that's exactly what I'm saying! Apple has all the money in the world. More money than ANY competitor. They have zero excuse not to be at the forefront of technology innovation.
Agree, for me, the 16 announcement was very lackluster. And, because of the unfavorable trade-in offers from the 14PM with my carrier (T-Mobile), I've switched back to Android with the Pixel9 ProXL. It's a challenge because lock-in is very real but it's kinda fun too, haven't been on Android for around ten years now.
Thank you for the honest review! My old iphone 11 died yesterday. Was thinking about the 16, then your review got into my eyes. Now I need to think again.
This is not a great "I'm not like the other RUclipsrs" take. We're not mad the upgrades aren't significant. We're mad because there is SO MUCH ROOM for upgrades and fixes JUST to be on par with Android (which iPhones still are far from). Apple has all the money in the world. Why are we making excuses for them? They have All. The. Money. In. The. World. We seem to forget this.
I like your take in this video. I've felt the same way with Apple for awhile, the only Iphones that were like a change 'TO ME!!!" was the X and the Mini lineup. the X was just a new design without the home button and the new face id, it was like thank you for finally changing it up and the mini was cool just because it was smaller but the battery sucked obvi. I think with tech we just adapted too quickly and everything feels the same; in a way it's why photographers are going back to old DSLR or film cameras but the tech is older which allows you to slow down. It's in the same case of how Sony is making a new P5 Pro and 90% of people who are casual gamers aren't going to tell the difference to the base version. I think we have more people who are less into tech than people are are into tech and everything for them feels the same in different ways; many people can't tell the difference between 60hz and 120hz if you show them. Tech just isn't as exciting as it used to be, and I think Apple Intelligence will be cool but if it isnt as good as Chat GPT then like it's not gonna be that useful. IPhones are great but we just hit a peak in cellphone tech that each brand will feel the same depending on what smartphone you get.
Ughh all I want is split screen multitasking I have the 14 pro max and the 15 pro max and I’m realistically thinking about trading in my 14 for the pixel 9 pro fold ….. I’m so tired of Apple.
Does the iphone 14 pro max have that crashing issue when you press the flashlight too??? Like some people have problems with their iphone 15 pro when they press the flash with their finger.
Apple should alternate between the base/SE iPhones and high-end Pro iPhones to upgrade each year in order to make significant leaps in designs and upgrades. Updating all models yearly seems excessive and redundant at this point. Having at least 2 years in between upgrades on each model line would allow more time for innovation
If Apple had sold the iPhone XR with the A18 that would be enough for most people. Most of my friends owing every iPhone from the 11 to the 15 pro max never take pictures outside of instagram and Snapchat. They never use the normal camera app, the ultramodern or the telephoto.
Using the PC was a poor example, there are many communities behind them such as building them and gpu brands etc. You can upgrade your PC with your own components and comparing it to a dish-washer is just absurd to me
Apple’s model is to let others make it first, see if it catches on, and if so then make their own version. I’m sure they’re looking at Flips and Folds but it’s too early to move in that direction.
Good video and yeah there's not a whole lot of reason to upgrade anymore at least not yearly maybe every four or five years I have an iPhone 13 mini and I'm not upgrading to the 16th there's not enough of a difference yeah the cameras are a little better and it's a little faster and the battery lasts a little longer but these are all not reasons to upgrade. I think the camera on my phone and the battery and the speed or just fine on the 13 mini so I'll keep it at least for another year or two maybe three
Bit of an odd video, Samsung aren’t doing anything different. Same designs, no innovation (according to RUclipsrs). Yet smartphones are still one of the most talked about tech items. These companies can’t seem to do anything right, I guess RUclipsrs have nothing else to discuss so they keep repeating one another. I should just stop watching. I own a Samsung btw. Have a good day sir.
In regards to your analogy at the start: the smart phone has begun to fade in to that space similar to the PC, but the marketing hasn’t. That’s why it’s such a let down. As long as the marketing and buzz that is created by Apple and tech media continues, it will continue to be a let down. People look forward to the “brand new” every September because of marketing. It is expected at this point, like seasons changing. Smart phones probably reached their peak about 8 generations ago. There’s not much more innovation to be had in the hardware at this time.
Then again what can be done that’s anything noticeable? Holographic phones, holographic flip phones? Maybe cameras that support 8K, 12K, or 16K video? Even with that being said, if function still exists more than the bells and whistles then the iPhone will continue to be fine. Security, longevity, and reliability are really the main selling points Apple has and regardless of any Android improvements or extra features they have, Apple definitely won’t become obsolete due to how they implement things better.
It's hard to believe that a tech RUclipsr has missed that iPhone 16 has upgraded about a dozen main components in very big ways. Take a look at a teardown and you will see a totally different phone inside, where the innovation happens. Apple spends way more on innovation than at any other time in their history. The fact that you don't recognize it is a personal problem, nothing about Apple. By the way, innovation comes from the amount that companies invest in R&D. Apple spend 29 billion last year, way more than any other consumer tech company. Just take a look at a few items, the SoC cpu and gpu are 18% faster than last year, did that just fall from the sky or was it innovated. Battery tech and removability were improved a lot. With regard on the AI side only Apple is respecting your privacy by doing mostly on device processing. When it needs to use a larger model it takes you to a private cloud that continues to respect your privacy. That cloud runs on efficient Apple silicon and is the only AI operation in the world powered by renewable energy. Every other AI provider will be paying through the nose in cost of electricity. All that massive cost will be passed on to users. Everything Apple did took a massive amount of innovation.
