Do you think it’s possible to fully protect yourself from manipulation, or will the human factor always be our weakest link?

It's unlikely to fully protect yourself from manipulation because human beings are inherently emotional and social. These qualities, while valuable, make us vulnerable to influence. Emotions, trust, fear, and cognitive biases are natural parts of our psychology that manipulators can exploit. However, by understanding your own triggers, questioning motives, and staying emotionally aware, you can reduce your vulnerability. While the human factor will always present some risk, awareness and mindfulness can significantly minimize the impact of manipulation.

No, it's not possible to fully protect yourself against mind manipulation especially emotional manipulation simply because we all are more or less susceptible to it.
However, malignant narcissists are usually not susceptible to manipulation due to their lack of affective empathy (emotions).

Bias is not in and of itself an error. If I see a red hot surface on a stove, my bias is that it is hot. This is not itself and error in judgement. Bias serve a vital function to short circuit to a safe correct choice.

You’re absolutely right, bias in itself is not always an error. As you correctly pointed out, it can serve an important function, helping us make quick decisions in dangerous or familiar situations, such as avoiding a hot surface. However, as I mentioned in the video, manipulators often exploit cognitive biases to influence our perception, creating the illusion of a correct choice or steering us toward certain conclusions. So, bias is indeed a tool that can be both beneficial and a vulnerability for manipulation.
