I’m a local angler and fish a lot of the same spots you do, but you catch way more fish than me! I love your vids. You’ve convinced me to use the Carolina rig for Sheepies rather than the taco jig, and I’ve caught more since I made the switch. Thank you! Hope to see you out on the water sometime!
Thanks for watching the video and the awesome feedback! Glad you’re catching more! That’s how I learned to fish for Sheeps, the old school method. Those sheepshead jigs haven’t been around that long as far as I know and people have been slaying Sheeps back in the days with the ol’ Carolina. If you aren’t already, go to a Owners 2/0 size octopus hook. And tie it on using a snell knot. Make sure it bends the correct way though, that’s crucial! Tight lines!
Thanks man! I’m a long time subscriber! Love your channel! But nah, never tried them. I’ve just always been taught to use the Carolina rig so it’s tough for me to switch lol😅
@@VISUAL-LY that’s awesome man thanks for the support. I was the same way with Caroline rigs until i finally tried the sheepshead jigs. Give them a try it’s definitely worth it
@@YakinwithJack ok, I might just have to eventually. Maybe sooner than later. I know so may people, including yourself, that catch monster Sheeps using them. Just stubborn😂 Thanks for visiting the channel bro🤙

I just recently started watching your channel. I really enjoy your videos. Great quality and very entertaining, especially when you guys have your competitions. Your channel is on my watch list for sure. Tight lines 🤙
Vis I am thinking about buying an Old Town 136 Kayak just to do some sheepshead fishing. I get excited watching you guys. love the video. I am a new subscriber.
Is that the kayak with built in autopilot? If so, congrats, that’s a very nice kayak and the motor should really help you stay in position to target sheepshead. Good luck and thanks again for subscribing!
I’m assuming you meant what cooler? Was confused for a sec lol. It’s the Engel 30qt. Comes with 4 rod holders. Love it for the kayak! Link below: a.co/d/7f1yNqW
Good question. I’ve ordered a Native kayak before from Paddleva.com - that may be your best option now. There’s also a native kayaks owners group on FB, people are always selling their kayaks on there. Good luck!
Thanks! You can catch sheepshead anytime. There’s just more and bigger ones in the colder months. Where we launched isn’t really a boat ramp. Just a creek area. It’s called haulover.
I know you were fishing a rising tide but did you find your sheepshead on the bottom. or suspended? If suspended were they staying at the same depth as you moved from dock to dock?
It’s was top of the incoming and the bite was pretty slow. As soon as the water started to flow out, that’s when we got most of the action. And most fish caught were near the bottom. Although, there wasn’t much depth for them. All the spots we fished were 2-4ft with the exception of dock3 which might have been 5ft or so.
Hey man! if you ever want paddle out with someone let me know! I just got a kayak a few months ago and haven't found anyone in jax to go out with. I'm about 15 mins ish from the mayport area.
😂😂nah, navy doing their daily military training. But there was a jeep parked at the launch for a long time. Windows we’re so dark on all sides we couldn’t see anything at all. I thought for sure it was FWC and as we were leaving a dude opens the door and scared the hell out of us! Lol! He commented on this video, just asked about fishing and subbed🙌🙌
@@artkitzmiller957 it was tough to tell because all of the docks were super shallow. 2-4ft max, but mostly on the lower end. I can say that all the ones I caught were on or near the bottom.
@@VISUAL-LY That is much needed info. I am going to make a trip down to Mayport from Delaware (I am retire military so I can stay on base) in March, I would love to meet up and fish with someone who has the local knowledge.
@@artkitzmiller957 if that’s the case, you can just stay on base and walk out onto the jetty rocks for instant private access to excellent sheepshead fishing!
This is my own personal observance. When I fished fresh water the solunar chart was really on target. In the tiasl creeks the tide and weather seemed to control the action. Solunar chart not so much
That really makes lots of sense. So many variables when dealing with moving water. I’m a lake, not so much. I can totally see that. Thanks for sharing!💯
