You mentioned a fishing pole, a little tip is to use a longer (7+ foot) pole with some 20lb test or higher line. Poke a stiff wire through a tennis ball and bend the bottom part of the wire over so it won't pull out and twist a loop in the top to tie your line to. The tennis ball has the weight to cast far and past the boat with a long stiff pole and it has the resistance in the water to pull the line tight higher than the boat so you can walk left or right and then relax the line once over the boat then reel in. If you put a small screw sticking up 1/8 of an inch or so on the nose of the boat will give the line something to catch on. We did this back in the day on our nitro boats
Proboat builds quality product. The polycarbonate hull is new from them and for the larger boats it seems to be the way to go. The 48” zelos fiberglass hull is stiff but extremely heavy. Even the. 36” zelos needed 2 6s systems to push its fiberglass hull up to speed. I love my 29” veles’ hand laid fiberglass hull , but the abs hull on the Traxxas m41 works great so I have high hopes for this new Proboat offering
The biggest problem with polycarbonate is that it has a large potential to warp where fiberglass will not. Also poly has more flexibility which means at high speeds that hull isnt staying rigid
Yes your right that's why I bought the scattmaster chance version it's made out of the best scatt,I run two 12s liposuction batteries, let me tell you scatt is better then poly any day
There is something kind of funny about seeing this boat with the tag 5 horse power as if that’s a ton of power. Not realizing at first glance it was an RC boat. 😂 love it. That is a ton of power for an RC boat.
Friend of mine here Las Vegas Has Eliminator with blown Chevi 28' and runs 126mph on lake mead and what you want with a hull like you have, light chop is what you want to run the fastest, water won't suck the hull down less friction less drag. And all my RC boats always run faster with light chop. Have fun !
I like everything about it except hull construction. I personally think if Pro Boat built this fibreglass it would be a huge hit. But I’m spoiled with a fleet of gas boats all fibreglass or carbon fibre built. The Spektrum electronics are top notch though. I guess time will tell the tale of durability. Great video!!!!
I have this same exact boat love the color I also live in the Northeast too so it pops out on the dark water I've always had little pool boats and this is my first real size RC boat and went a little tuning I got mine up to 77 miles an hour can't go wrong with this boat I love it.
yes, definitely run the extra cooling line. with no air circulation in the hull it gets really hot! i have two 17" recoil (discontinued) pro boats. one for me and the wife. they are a blast. bought a bunch of spare parts so hopefully run them for years to come. personally i'd have gone with the 36" shortwave for the self-righting feature. i get go big or go home deal too. just my advice here, make or get yourself a rescue boat. your going to flip it sooner than later. that's when the fun ends and the freak out begins. have fun!
I've got a-lot of the ground vehicles from Traxxas. Now I'm going to get a boat , a bit expensive ... I can't wait to cruise the local pond ...Great video ,,, See you ..
Wow funny cause i have a Miss Geico 36 & that thang is wicked faast! My figer shakes @ times too but i'm really liking this one here so i will be ordering me one next week now the decision of what color 👍👍👍💯
Miss Geico is fast, but she's a maintenance nightmare. Very difficult to access the motors. I've yet to take mine out without breaking something on it. Her guts are very fragile.
That pro boat black jack looks awesome can't wait to get mying it's looks like a lot of fun i am loving this pro boat black jack awesome video keep up the good work keep on rc and rc boat action and stay safe 😎
Great looking boat, they advertise it as an RTR, but you never mentioned anything about any batteries being supplied with the boat, if so can you run it with one 4000 mah pack until I can purchase the right batteries?
You can always run a lower cell battery in any capacity, only thing that will suffer is performance, although if you're willing to spend 600 dollars on and RC boat, you should be understanding that you're going to be spending another 1-200 on batteries. Just my .02
Thanks for the video! 1 On the Pro Boat promo video they have the music turned up, so you can't hear the boat. 2 I wanted to see if the bow bounced a lot like the Zelos 48.
i’ve got both. really can’t go wrong with either. the m41 is a little easier to work on and is very stable at high speeds. the blackjack is a little harder to work on but is faster. needs tweaking for high speed but handles rough water better.
I have the original Blackjack it was a cannon red the speed control and original Blackjack is on at 20 amps three cell batteries pretty good I had a long time ago down in Winter Haven Florida
@@rcdriver monster garage when jesse james raced pikes peak after the race his would shake. He said thats how he knows it was a good race. On his dash of race truck his post it note said . Stay calm. That must be a fun boat.
Hell yeah I agree. If I ever bought a boat it would have to be a big one. I don't wanna worry about flipping over by hitting the wake of a small fishing boat.
The water looked pretty calm to me, surely there aren't many times that you'd get less wind. It didn't handle those conditions very well, I'd have been disappointed.
This boat is absolutely a screamer I love it I have the same boat the same color scheme I think it's a wise choice up North with the color of the lakes but it's definitely a crowd pleaser I always get people coming around to watch it and give me comments on how fast it is it was a little intimidating at first because of the speed but I enjoy it every time I take it out my heart does race definitely cuz it's just so exciting to to run this boat but just to let you know I definitely enjoy this boat despite the price but like you said if you want a lot of fun you know things aren't cheap and the technology is probably most of the the price of the boat but I definitely enjoy it enjoy your boat it's a lot of fun. Also I did take advantage of the second coolant water outlet so I have one separate one from my speed controller and one separate one from my motor I think it's a beneficial thing to do because by time the water with the single one by time the water gets through the the motor it's already heated up and it's going into your speed controller and you definitely want to have some cool water in that. With that said have fun that's what the hobbies all about enjoying ourself keep the bottom side down.👍
Honestly, 51mph isn't anything to brag about, but I can see room for more. Better batteries, tuned prop, bullet nut, better water conditions, break into the 60s
@@driverjamescopeland my buddies blackjack 29 on 4s was doin 50+mph all stock. My genesis cat I built with a turnigy 180amp esc and 2200kv motor on 6s clocked 65mph. Like I said, 51 is ok but could be better

I know you have done a few videos on this Miss Geico boat but how would you compare this new BlackJack 42 8s to the Miss G?? ? I am not trying to break any world speed records just want a solid boat that does over 50mph
can you speak to the flex shaft removal on this one? people are struggling on how to properly remove it, as the instructions are inadequate and the diagrams are inaccurate. also, there is a brass bushing in the prop support strut that it's not clear if this item is pressed in, or it's meant to come out during maintenance of the flex shaft.
I just won one of these from Horizon in their Summer of Fun Sweepstakes. Should be here tomorrow. Pretty cool boat, but I won't even be able to run it. Such a bummer because it looks like a lot of fun.
I just got the Veles 29 a week ago. I love mine, just make sure that you have a backup plan on a recovery boat to retrieve it when it flips. Two days ago mine flipped over as i was trying to turn, a twig got stuck in the rudder and forced the rudder to straighten out and caused it to flip. Thankfully, the wind pushed it across to the other side and I didn't have to throw a kayak in the water.
Considering I bought the ProBoat Zelos Twin before it was discontinued for $588, I don't think $599 for a 42" is all that bad, especially for an 8s system. My Zelos Twin is faster out of the box than this new Blackjack, but there is (at least how I feel) more potential being able to handle a higher performance prop than the Zelos Twin. The difference is my Zelos has twin prop, motor, and ESC which makes each system work half as hard as it would with one system and probably part of the reason for higher speed out of the box.
Just a note for those who might not be familiar with these. The connectors are IC5 not EC5 as stated @ 13:08 although they are compatible with each other.
That color looks 100x better than the black. Just the color alone makes me want it even more!!
did you get it yet?

I think people over do or over think making things as ridged as possible. A little flex or give will take more abuse before it breaks.
I just need to win the powerball tonight and I'll buy it! I know a 240-acre property for sale with a 100-acre lake/pond on it
Could it tow a kayak? 5hp is more than some small outboards.
