@lickdacat2 ummm... wow... I was not talking about hollywood stars here. This is all about music. But since you brought it up... I don't believe for a minute that the stars I look for on Netflix got lucky. Luck and preparation, perhaps. But 10,20,30 blockbusters later... it ain't about who they're screwing. It's about their ability to crawl into a character roll and do something amazing with it.

Great tips. May want to re-record when you're fully hydrated or over your cold. Mouth sounds are very distracting. Still worthwhile advice. Thanks!

If you compare the stagnation of mainstream country to a style like metal or progressive rock, you'll see that country doesn't have a large, vibrant underground (cover bands in bars are not an underground), does not have a large number of subgenres and doesn't have an industrial infrastructure that encourages artists to develop as individuals. I'm more a fan of metal, indie rock and folk, but Corb Lund, Hank III, Cash, Haggard and Robbie Fulks are great alternatives to Nashville's recent output

You are wrong, stars are not special people. Most are just normal people that got lucky. Some are very talented but very few, it is more about who you screw and how good you do it.
In Hollywood on the movie scene, most are Jews who just knew the right people. If you are not Jewish, you can just about forget getting a break. In movies you can take 50 times to get a scene right as the editors take care of everything.

Country music is sounding a bit "inbred" these days? Hey, he said it, not me!
Seriously, though...Is there any other genre of music that is as watered-down and soulless as contemporary country music? All the management firms and record labels want some clone of some other popular act. Most of the hit singles are written and recorded by the same circle of producers and songwriters. All the "artists" (or "commodities") rely on their silly lyrical hooks and gimmickry (dumb tie-in dances, etc)
