Yeah punk basically started as this kind of music but played very fast due to stage fright. And this version is noticeably faster than the album version
PART II 😁 HOLY SMOKES!! These guys or on Hyper Drive on this one. Way faster than studio. Their recordings sound Raw so no surprise they sound great Live! Awesome ☮️
I grew up on the great music of the 60's-70's. CCR has always been one of my favorites. John Fogerty has one of the most unique & recognizable voices around. They don't have a bad song! Huge list of hits! "I Heard It Through The Grapevine", "Proud Mary", "I Put A Spell On You", "Down On The Corner", "Green River", "Have You Ever seen The Rain", "The Midnight Special", "Susie Q", "Born On The Bayou", "Travelin' Band", "Run Through The Jungle", "Long As I Can See the Light", "Sweet Hitchhiker", "Bad Moon Rising" etc.
CCR are one of my favorite bands. Captivating from the first tone to the last with widespread musical colours. Thank you for your very appropriate analysis Bethany! 🙏
2 of CCR really weren't "Fortunate Sons", as they did go to War in 'Nam, & so their band, just: 'Creedance Clearwater' broke up, & when, post-tours, they all reunited, they added: 'Revival' to the band's name to represent 'em revivin' to rockin' roll!🤘
Cool song. Heart beat beginning to a jone of others heart beat a healthy rebellion. I Love It! His face looks to me as when he is singing this song. His soul is being tickled from performing this song. I can almost feel the inside gooses he is feeling.
This version is a classic example of that old band joke, "How do you know when a drummer knocks at your door?" .... "It speeds up." If a band launched today, or any era post Creedence, with a vocalist that sang like John Fogerty, I honestly feel they'd be a world wide success. One of my absolute favorite live performances from John Fogerty is 'Born on the Bayou', from the Premonition live DVD; it's SO good.
"Creedence", as we say here in Sweden, were huge. And still if someone is playing covers at a pub there will inevitably be some requesting "Play some Creedence!" In fact the band my cousin used to play in made it 500 SEK (about $50) to request a Creedence song just because the wanted to play other songs as well for a change 😅
I can name that song in 2 notes, it is one of those instantly recognizable songs, and important songs. John's voice is also instantly recognizable. I agree with you CCR is very underrated and always has been. Born in 83 I grew up listening to them as my parents were huge fans, and we always had the golden oldies on the car radio. I as always appreciated your reaction and thoughts on this.
I think my favourite version of this song is a live one with John Fogerty and Bruce Springsteen from 2009 at Madison Square Garden, 13M views on RUclips
Love the way you break down the vocals and your overall analysis of a song Bethany. Top notch. I appreciate your insight. Thanks. If you have the chance, please check out Stevie Wonders live cover of Fragile by Sting at Stings 60th birthday party. Stevie's phrasing and his take on the song is unbelievable. Thanks again.
Loving your channel! I highly recommend the CCR songs Wrote a Song For Everyone or (Wish I Could) Hideaway. Two lesser known songs that are more ballads than most CCR songs that really show off Fogerty's vocal skills. Also Hideaway is unique because organ rather than guitar is the lead melodic instrument in the mix. Unfortunately you'd be hard pressed to find a live performance of either of these songs to use on the channel. Thank you, have a good day.
Many of the great singers from the 70's are half-forgotten. You've just reacted to two of them -- Fogerty and Rodgers -- but there are many others. One of my favorites is Bryan Ferry of Roxy Music. Over the decade, Roxy morphed from edgy art-pop to dreamy ethereal, and every step of the way Bryan was fantastic. The obvious would be to react to a performance from their ultra-successful Avalon album, but you can pick him up at any point in the 70's and enjoy his singular voice.
Very Cool! Growing up in Hawaii,,, PROUD MARY was a standard bands would play at a family Luau. Miss those times. Here's an idea!!! ONLY YOU by the Platters 1955 performance. The channel Classic Hits Studio has a good video! Great Job Bethany!! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎🎸🤟🏼
Finally! Big CCR fan here. One video, especially this particular video is not enough to understand Fogerty's voice. You can clearly see how he is nervous and keeps looking at the drummer Clifford because they just getting faster and faster from the beginning to the end. So he couldn't sing the way he used to.
I love CCR's music, but I think their lore is even more interesting, and a bit sad to think about how much bigger they could have been. Banger after banger, songs like Fortunate Son that effectively defined an entire specific period of time, but the band only 3 years due to (apparently) massive control issues. They released 3 top 10 albums in a single year!
When you're 12 and heard this when it first aired, you learn to hear and tune in to music and singers and when you age, you can skip all the others over the years that just can't match bands like these.
While you're watching live videos, 😊😊 ‘Sivert Høyem - my thieving heart (live at acropolis)’ comes highly recommended. Totally different genre but very worthwhile. Sivert Høyem is the singer of Madrugada, with a very warm voice and already quite a long career that in my opinion deserves a bit more attention. Kind regards Luc
Could you please react to "Xavier Naidoo - Sie sieht mich nicht"? It's such a beautiful song with an amazing singer. I really love your content and am so happy that you already reacted to Herbert Grönemeyer's "der Weg"!
Hi Bethany I'm a super fan of yours I loved how u react especially to the Filipino singers and also to my favorite songs...Please react to these Filipino singers Almira Lat - He Knows (The Wedding Video) Sheryn Regis - Come in and out of the Rain (Wish 107.5 performance) Nina LIVE - (all songs) Kyla - On the wings of Love Moira Dela Torre - Paubaya (Wish 107.5 performance) Jayda and Jessa Zaragosa - Points of View (Wish 107.5 performance) Daryl Ong and Gigi Delana - After All Daryl Ong - My Destiny GiGi Delana and GGVibes - Bakit nga ba mahal kita (Wish 107.5 performance) Sarah Geronimo - I Just Fall In Love Again (Finally Found Someone Movie Theme Song)
Hi, Bethany..check : Falling in Reverse ,the 3 Reimagined songs ,1) Last Resort Reimagined, 2) The Drug in me is Reimagined, 3) I'm not a Vampire Revamped.........much ❤
You talk about wear & tear on singers' vocal cords. I have wondered for year what would have happened to Janis Joplin's voice if she had lived and kept singing with that insensitively.
I'm a 71 year old drummer and that beat has been in my bones for 50 years. CCR was my air drum band in my teens.
I just realized, this performance, could almost be considered proto-punk. The pace, the simplicity, and the message.
Awesome ☮️
Wonder if some Columbian marching powder was the cause of that.
I was lucky enough to see them live in the 70's. They were the first rock band my dad listened to and liked
CCR was so unique...and their music defined a period of time...
Phenomenal song. Have loved it for decades. CCR's repertoire is immense. So many artists have covered them.

John Fogerty never went to Vietnam. He got a draft notice but enlisted in the Army Reserve. He served 2 years here in the states.
@briangriffin5524 👍: Johnny F' didn't, & it was dos' otre' who did:
2 other band members.
John toured the UK about 18 months ago and I was lucky enough to see him in Manchester - he's still knocking it out of the park!
'Up Around the Bend' is another favorite, a summer weekend classic!
Cool song. Heart beat beginning to a jone of others heart beat a healthy rebellion. I Love It! His face looks to me as when he is singing this song. His soul is being tickled from performing this song. I can almost feel the inside gooses he is feeling.

They certainly seem in a big hurry on this performance.
Loved Creedence Clearwater Revival!!❤❤❤❤
Totally agree. As a boomer, CCR was huge during my childhood. But these days, they seem to get lost in the shuffle of bands from that era.
CCR makes my top 5 best ever American bands lists for decades now.

My favourite CCR song.
Talking about John's singing voice, I think it definately got higher as he got older as well.

You just cant getting bored with this band - soo much differences in the albums.
The Power to Project at that Tempo, That is CCR.
Thank you
It's Righteous!

Great protest song! We need more!

Grande la Creedence
This a song about not be able to avoid the draft to be sent to fight in Vietnam
*Freedom intensifies
That reaction to the intro 🤣😍🥰
We need The Vocalist to react to Mississippi Queen by Mountain and Spiders by SOAD.

Please review Country Girl by the actress Jesse Buckley from movie Wild Rose.
Hiya Bethany
Fogerty is 'The Old Man Down The Road'
Wink wink, nudge nudge
Was that video played at 1.25x? It seems faster than the radio single.
They almosf turned this one into the punk rock version 😂
When is the next video?
A song about Al Gore being a "fortunate son, millionaire's son, senator's son"
Trump is the most fortunate son ever!
@pensiveowl7791 he's a disgrace, Mr bone spurs.
You talk about wear & tear on singers' vocal cords. I have wondered for year what would have happened to Janis Joplin's voice if she had lived and kept singing with that insensitively.
The anger and disillusionment in this song has a very punk rock attitude Waaaaaay before punk rock was a thing.
Do yourself favor, listen to another Vietnam protest song. This one by Arlo Guthrie...titled Alice's Restaurant ,,,...boss stuffz,
Ccr a maior
Sometimes I think you were born way, way too late. :))
Same. 😅
