I just got a 2005 Altima for 500 dollars, it needs a bit of suspension work. This coming weekend, i will be replacing the rear hubs, shocks, swaybar links and brakes all the way around. This video has been very helpful, thank you! Even if a car has a decent amount of repairs, it is so worth it to do yourself if you feel confident enough. I spent 350 dollars on parts vs paying a shop 1k+ to repair it.
Make sure the new hub is right side up or the screws will not go in all the holes. At about 8:47 the old hub comes out, there is a bump in the casting at the top of the hub. Your new one does not have this, my new one did, but just to be certain, a line through the center of the holes on one edge will pass closer to the bore than the others. Great video, I used it to walk myself through changing my hubs. "Still cheaper than a car payment!"

Tip: If you're having trouble breaking any bolts I used a 2 by 2 piece of wood.. wedged it between my shocks and pressed on wrench.. that way very easy.. Also the break piston can be removed completely by removing top bolt and sliding out the bottom one with the whole part. Easier access that way. And thank you for video.
15:37 The lower slide pin is NOT the one with the rubber cap. The UPPER ones has a rubber cap, as is seen at 1:44. The lower pin has no cap on it. Also, no lube on the slide pins?
If you remove the cap off the brake Reservoir it makes it a lot easier to move the brake caliper also because these vehicles are prone to rust and bolts snapping easily make sure to use penetrating oil on all the bolts a couple days before you plan on doing this that will make it a lot easier. Good video
+EagleEyez786 Thanks for watching. If any of our viewers needs to make this repair, we carry the auto repair part shown in this video on our website. Here is a link to them www.1aauto.com/2002-06-nissan-altima-wheel-bearing-and-hub-assembly/i/1ashr00105?RUclips&CTA+Comment&Uc2EkWV8
Ah yes. Comes out so easy. Until it doesn't. Had to use a homeade press with 2 bolts 4 washers and 2 nuts. That made it easy after beating the hub with a hammer for 2 days. This car must be in a non snowy area. Also taking off the caliper by the bracket is much easier. But if you are going to do it that way, grease those pins! They wont grease themselves. 😀
I still don’t get why even people with hands on experience desperate the caliper Into two pieces just remove the bigger bolts and bam 💥 the entire caliper comes off I know he knows I just don’t get it unless your greasing the pins which obviously he didn’t 🤷♂️
Hi, You mention this car did not have an ABS sensor. My 06 Altima does have ABS, is it as simple as disconnecting one more component or is it more complex? Thanks!
Mark all you have to do is remove the sensor from the knuckle before attempting to remove the hub and bearing assembly. If not, you will end up replacing the hub AND sensor.
Im trying my best to get rid of the second bottom bolt of my caliper but wont come off. I used wd40, and blaster. Im turning it clockwise like i see in the video but still it wont come off. Any advice you guys can give
+Wilkins Dessalines Thanks for watching! You can try using heat to get the bolt to expand and contract. This might help loosen it up so you can get it removed. 1aauto.com
+Retroman2000 We currently do not have an auto repair video that covers this particular repair. The front hubs will have to be pressed out, so you will need access to a proper table press. We will keep this request in mind in the event that we need to make this repair in the future. 1aauto.com
+DJ Nati We don't have a how-to video for your vehicle right now, but the basic steps in this video should be enough to do this task. Buy this part for your vehicle on 1AAuto.com: 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c

Awesome video. I was able to replace wheel bearing just like the video. I couldn't have done the job without this video. Thanks!

I wonder if the brake caliper assembly can be removed as a whole unit instead of messing around with the slide bolts and brake pads.
Great video with good use of a GoPro/camera for the inside views. Great tutorial and extremely easy to follow!
This is the best video for wheel bearing replacement... thank you.. soo much...

How long when they need replacement about how many miles I got 125,000mi on mine ..05 ...
It was a good video but you did a few too many extra steps that you didn't have to do all right but great video

Unnecessary work to end up not doing it right 😹
Whats the torque spec on back 4 bolts on wheel bearing???
I think the said 58-68 ft/lb in the video. He set his torque wrench to 60 ft/lb.

Tools list errata: it's not a 14mm socket- it's a 17mm. Make sure to have both normal and deep socket versions!
Should I change rear bearings both sides or just the troubled one?
We recommend doing both at the same time. Thanks for checking us out! +Nhat Nguyen
I didn't see you grease either caliper pin...smh.

What is that dust cap part number for a 2007 Nissan Maxima
+Connor Iaroli Thanks for watching, but we do not have that information for you.
If you painted break pads cover but your working very good
I could hear the slide hammer from the tool box! "USE MEEEEEE"!!!!!!
Brilliant!
A1 job!
Would this apply to an '05 Maxima ?

@@1AAuto Thanks for the reply! The hub assembly part is the same for both cars, so I'm gonna assume it's the same procedure. Great video!
THNK U SO MUCH FOR THIS!!!!
+Wade N Thank you!
Torque specs included.
Would've liked to have seen the symptoms and diagnosis, otherwise good video
Who else here almost freaking crashed going down the road because your wheel fell halfway off
very helpful
right rear is getting really everyone else think i should replace both rear at the same time?
I need to replace mine and I’m doing both at the same time. For the cost of the hub assembly it seems like good insurance.
Yes, me 2... at 170K miles if I'm going to prep & clean up afterwards (even myself!) one, then I'm doing both! :)
Yes...always replace in pairs. If money is tight..then replace the bad one. Just plan ahead to replace the other side when you can as well.
