For this episode of "Why I Made This" Zach talks about the Hephaestus Variable Voltage Fuzz. The new standard/mini version is far and away one of our favorite fuzz circuits ever. Learn about why we decided to make this a standard part of the Mythos Pedals lineup.

Sooooo happy this came back. Been at this top of my wish list.
This pedal is sooo fun! And so simple. Congrats Zach! Cool looking guitar too!
Just ordered from ur site thank u Zach!
I love this pedal! It reacts so well to changes in the guitar’s volume and tone knob! It also has an inspiring reaction to harmonics! So much fun!
Killer playing and awesome job representing the pedal.
Very cool! We would love to try it
Sounds crazy - love it! I’d really like to try one.
Thanks Zach!
This is a stupid amount of fun. I love it.
I just bought one and it is just a blast! I do find myself wishing that there was a master volume on the outside because I love to tweak it, but not having it makes me get creative!
Love my first edition!!!!
thanks for sharing
That's super cool! gonna have to get one of these, I have a soft spot for this circuit as it's the first pedal I ever put together via a kit
Sick!
There are positions that highly reminds me of ZVex Wolly Mammoth, but others, that are very different.
"It lives inside your guitar" thats a sign of great fuzz.
Mine is very fun. When I turn it to about 2 O’clock and pluck the string with a light touch from my finger, it does a distorted octave down. It is a cool pedal and doesn’t overlap with any over the other fuzzes I have…
This was my first mythos pedal. The Rhett one. It really does pull a different style out of the player
I love this got to get me some of that stuff 🎉🎸🔊☮️
I had no clue about that internal volume pot. That made so much difference for my pedal. Omg it is a main stay from here on out.
Sounds deluxe! Great playing Zach!
Thanks a lot!
Badass guitar
I think an expression control for Warning would be amazing!
I’ve been wanting a boss tone and have been staring at the myriad of options or making my own clone. Measuring transistors for these finicky circuits is painful. I really need something better than the HFe thing on my multimeter. I’ve conditioned myself to avoid the frustration of simple fuzz circuits.
But Lord, this is a simple beautiful design. A minor tweak on a classic circuit that gives it a magnitude more utility. One knob.
[cue Office Space Lumbergh voice] So yeaaah. I’m going to need you to make sure Eastside has these in mid August when I’m in town.
I want to get it from some dudes and not the man, man.
got mine, so fun and unpredictable. You have a quite unique left arm position while playing.
Broke my left wrist as a kid. Only have about half rotation
Wow! Glad you make it work that well despite it. ✌️
The fuzz I've been waiting for...just keep 'em around. The penny's are being saved for a needed new lens. ;)
Mine arrived today. Will have to wait until tomorrow when baby is awake
Is that work with overdrive and other fuzz pedals well (in sub octave setting not as fuzz) like the Argonaut, or it is an alone usable pedal ?
Best by itself IMO
@@MythosPedals I get it. I am sad about this. I liked the anti argonaut idea through. A dirty, weird, fuzzy, sub octave thing what it stackable with any gain pedal like the argonaut (I have one and I love it). I wanted to use this pedal just an attitude pedal like the argonaut.
That 10/11 o'clock spot was some busted grill madness. Ugly, deathwish, scoundrely pirate tones. These are good things, by the way.
Came for the pedal, but that Squire really caught my attention. What is that Squire?
What Squier? The guitar is a Swope.
Great video! Love the "why I made it" "why I bought it" series. I know this is completely not the point of the video, but what was that bass?
Just a Mexican standard P-Bass. Its a 60th anniversary I think, has a cool silver-y finish
Please make a silent fuzz with a tone knob !!!!! 🙏
A what?
@belo1971
So basically a Tone knob 😂
Fuzz = Noise. Unless it’s a gated fuzz, in which case it is intermittently quiet…
you need to embrace the chaos.
@MythosPedals
I’m really digging the Argo Fuzz. It’s brilliant. This one sounds nasty (in a good way). Keep them coming!
Zach you are a great player but why do you hold the guitar like you do, you make my wrist hurt
Left wrist was broken as a kid. Didn’t heal properly so I only have half rotation in my left hand.
